I just saw the clip on Vancouver news. Chara at the podium, says, "And the first pick of the 2012 NHL All Star Game, I just love the way he plays the game, Pavel Datsyuk". Awesome.

He is still super strong on the puck, and he doesn't get stopped immeditately. It's just that he seems to be a half step slower, and his shot is a little watered down.

I believe this is the issue. Knee and back problems add up over the years, stiffen up, lose their explosiveness, handcuffing shots. Warren Miller, the great extreme skiing movie maker summed it up best with regards to age and the athletic body: "If you are a better skiier at 41 than you were at 21, then you weren't much of a skier at 21". I still give Z mad props for pushing that beat up body of his.

But Dallas Drake has won a Cup, here in Detroit as a matter of fact. Plus, he's been retired for a few years already so I think he may be a bit out of shape.

Miller and Eaves are really good guys and i like them and want them to succeed. But they are vanilla. I don't think they really strike any sort of angst, anxiousness, or irritation into their opponents on game day morning like the Grind Line did.

No links, but I heard on Vancouver's Team 1040 that while Toronto draws roughly 19k fans and Florida draws roughly 14,750, the real difference is that Toronto also draws 750,000 tv audience, Flordia draws a tv audience of another 14,000. That's a major difference.

Knowing what we know now about it (not much at all) if he did that to my kid I'd either shake his hand and thank him, or punch him in the nose depending on what exactly happenned. (I've seen him fight, I know I can take him ) If he had it coming to him, then so be it. At 12 yrs old, there can be a huge size discrepency between kids. If some kid is being an incredible out of control spastic idiot (like the 13 yr old that shot at me while i was paddling a racing kayak then his idiot mom stuck up for him) then I can see an authority figure stepping in for some drastic discipline. There are too many out of control kids because their parents won't do anything about it. (We try to talk to him about it but he just doesn't listen . And don't get me started on yuppie hockey parents, my God! My dad never shook any of us, but he sure should have shaken the s*** out of my brother. I'll be the first one to say he was an idiot if the video shows it.
