I thought Lidsrom had a terrific year, but the reality is a lot of the guys voting for the Norris won't be able to get by his minus 2, so he very well may be the runner up.

My guess is Atlanta goes to Winnipeg and therefore gets into the Northwest Div, Nashville replaces them in the Southeast, and Minnesota replaces Nashville in the Central. Pretty simple. But if it doesn't happen in the next two weeks, it will be too late for this season.

I'd take Erhoff over Bieksa. Bieksa makes too many tunovers and would crumble under the wrath of LGW. He often looks like Sammy when he gets the puck; unsure of what to do with it, then panics and turns it over. And he's kind of a dick, he doesn't have the class to wear the red sweater.

Great OP, thanks for putting the time and thought into it. I agree with a lot of what you have to say. The only thing that really jumps out at me is that O'Brien seemed to do a lot of stupid s*** in Vancouver during his time there, on and off the ice. He looks to have matured a bit...but i'm still leery.

WHat's the story with Blake WHeeler? I haven't seen him play, only the highlight goals. He's got great size and suppossedly great hands, why doesn't his name come up at all? WHat's his story? -
Right now, it all comes down to effectiveness. I don't agree that Huds is better as you say he is, and neither one has been particularly more effective than the the other; maaaayyyybe a slight edge to Hudler, but Mo could certainly pick it up in his 2nd game in a row should he get the chance.

I'd think it should work and really wish it would, but the reality is that Modano has looked suprised by half of Datsyuks passes. Instead of gelling with Dats, he looks to be in awe of himn out there while under his breath mumbling "holy s***, I wasn't ready for--oh my, that was coo-- how the hell he'd do---awe crap".

I've always been on the fence regarding Hudler, but this year he lost me. You are correct, though, he looked good, he wanted it, he was a chippy litle thing out there and came out of corner mucks with the puck, made good passes, and generally gave a great level of contribution. Even though I'd prefer Mikey Mo in the lineup instead of Hudler, I really can't assess a discernable difference in their play. I want Mike to snipe and score and be a great story...

Other than looking at every player's individual bio, is there a quicker way to get the current roster's position number of where they went in their respective drafts? My google fu is not the greatest and I only have a minute here and a minute there and haven't found anything that would really be helpful, but want to respond on another forum about what Detroit is able to do with 19 yrs of low draft picks. If not, I'll go the individual bio route, or keep looking when I get a chance, or may blow off responding all together. Any help will be appreciated (link or?) Thanks, Go Wings.

Exactly. Then add players that other teams had given up on, the cast offs. Draper, Cleary, Bertuzzi, and to an extent Eaves, Miller and now Mikey Mo. This guy on another forum (non hockey forum, but NHL Playoff thread)hates the Wings for the old BS reasoning that they buy Cups. How can anyone in any sport not like an organization that does things the way the Wings do? They make more out of less than anyone I've ever seen. If our country had been run half as well as the Red Wings organization had been run for the last 25 years the entire world would be in a much better state than it is now, that's for sure. THey should be an organization case study.

Toby, you're money, thanks a ton. Blueadams, you're a dick. Good luck with that.

It's no wonder why sports psychology is such a big business.

We'll Finnish them off like we did tonite with Filp!

For some reason I have never been able to finish a single sentence you have ever posted... for some reason I seem to get distracted and lose concentration and moments later realize I've been staring and day dreaming... Oh yeah, Modano. Hopefully he's more like Bolland with his sudden impact rather than Hossa-like, getting so nervous he grips the stick too tight and has knots in his stomache. Go Mike, Go! Oh, and great avatar, btw.

We just need to make sure that Abdelkader shows up each shift and not his evil twin Elbowkader. This team needs Abdelkader's hits and general physical play. And Clowey is now a little too concerned with Adbelkrasher and that is a good thing.

SAn Jose is officially better than the red Wings. Took the series last year; took the regular season this year, and are now sweeping us under the rug when it matters most. San Jose hit the jackpot adding Couture, Ian White and even Kyle Wellfed is being all he can be. Thornton is still a douchebag but Mclellen has him playing like a Conn Smythe candidate. And Niemi gets yanked against LA but he is killing us. We just don't have the jump. The first two games SJ had an unbeleivable pace that we couldn't match. Tonite we just didn't look too concerned and it slipped away. Sj will smell blood in Game 4 and put us out of our misery. Very disappointing.

Reunite the BFF line from the beginning of the season, when we looked unstoppable. Zetterberg, Dats, Holmer Bertuzzi,Filp, Franzen Cleary, Abs, Modano Draper Helm Eaves
-
The Sedins still are not strong enough on the puck. Seeing how effective they are together in the regular season, can you imagine how awesome Datsyuk twins would be together! Goalies wouldn't have a chance in shootouts with Datsyuk twins.
-
You sir, are correct. On the losing goal, Abs was tied up with a Sharky so Ferrio took the puck out from between Abby's legs and threw it on net, right passed a dumbfounded, spectating, nonshotblocking, Jimmy Howard screening Brad Stuart.
-
It pisses me off that we need some ******* Sharks fan to point out the obvious because the LGW faithful are too busy whining about the calls.
-
The reffing was totally subpar, which is actually par for the course in the NHL. Nobody seems to know what a penalty is or what is not and yes, it's pathetic. Atleast it wasn't as bad as the "clipping" call on Albert's beautiful textbook hipcheck on Tootoo.. No the Wings wer not going to win that game if the refs swallowed their whistles. It was only a matter of time until Jimmy cracked because no one can withstand a barrage like that when your team is not giving the effort to help. The first goal was a "direct result" of Kronwall coasting in backward letting Pavelski skate right the f*** around him for a clean shot at the rebound. The winning goal was a direct result of abdelkader not being sure about what to do or where to go, so Ferrio skates over, takes the puck out from between Abby's legs and fires it on net. Stuart is so lethargic he skates aroound like a dumbass and doesn't even try to block Ferrio's shot. Instead he screens Jimmy's angle and spectates as the rookie gets his first ever playoff goal. Both SJ goals were a direct result of a SJ player beating a Detroit player due to lack of effort by the Detroit player. Yet, you guys don't want to discuss that; you'd rather talk about Buttman and conspiracy theories. Edit: see for yourselves. (click the video camera icon next to each SJ goal) http://www.nhl.com/ice/boxscore.htm?id=2010030241 I'm huge Abby and Kronner fans, but I certainly hope Babs rips them a new one for those highlights. We as Red Wing fans need to take ownership of our team's mistakes and not cry about the refs like Pittsburgh and Vancouver fans do. Instead of this thread, there should be a 5 page thread about the mistakes Detroit made allowing SJ to hang around and win. Then late in the 5th page of the thread someone could mention that the reffing calls really didn't help either, and some else reply, "no, they really didn't" and that should be it. Quit bitching about the calls and fan up.
