:rotflmao: I wonderred why they were calling Crawford "Luuuu" in game 7. :square:

That is infact the reason i would sit Franzen and enter Michigan Mike. I'd rather take my chances with an old rusty Mikey Mo with something to prove, than a great playoff scoring machine with a bad peg. You can't do s*** with a bad ankle. It's not his fault, it's just the way it is.
-
Well, you sounded like you were getting a little emotional.
-
Make sure you take a fresh box of tissues with you to bed tonite, sweetheart. I expect Kronwall to get off his lazy ass and move his feet instead of coasting in and getting totally outworked by Pavelski. Thats what i expect. Pavelski was willing to bust his ass to make the play; Kronwall wasn't. That was symptomatic of too much of the game. I expect them to have learned from last year that you don't win Stanley Cups by letting the wind get taken out of your sails by little men with whistles and diving divas.
-
I am going to disregard them because they are out of our control. If it was an even game, then I may point out of dive or two. But when we play two periods like we did, I would be very embarrassed to even bring it up. We did not take care of our own business. We got severely outplayed in the 2nd, and got beat badly in the third. The OT PK was a thing of beauty for 3:55, then not clearing it and getting fresh legs out there cost the game. But at fortyf***ingsix shots on goal, it was just a matter of time before one fluked it's way past Jimmy. It was an embarrassing 40 minutes of playoff hockey by us, and you guys are worried about dives? We have much bigger things to worry about than that. You guys are worse than Canuck and Pittsburgh fans. You ought to be ashamed of yourselves.
-
No, actually this stat line says it all for this game. Shots: SJ 46; Det 25 Score: SJ 2; Det 1 They give up 46 shots to only 25 and you guys are bitchin about dives? 18 shots in the 2nd period alone? Sheeyaat. Half way thru the 3rd my wife said "One goal isn't going to do it for this game. The Wings better pick it up". She was right. Dive schmive, the Wings had no jump after the 1st period.

Let me be the first in all of hockeydom to say it: The time to upgrade the hockey helmet is now upon us. It can easily be made more like the football helmet while retaining the traditional shape of the hockey helmet. It is time to take the next evolutionary step of the game. Time to reinstate the red line also.

How does the Canuck Front Office let the Green Guys in the arena? They are are a major embarrassment and are as ridiculuos as anything I have ever seen in a game anywhere.

Good summation, there, actually. I've lived all over the world. In '98 I moved to Bellingham and tried to become a Canucks fan (2nd to the Wings, of course). But Brian Burke was an unbelievable whiner. He was incredibly condescending in every interview I ever heard on The Team 1040. In short, he was a jackass. ("If Trevor Linden gets a better offer than what I gave him, I'll drive him to the airport"). Crawford was an ass in his interviews too. Always defensive, etc. It trickled down thru the organization and the team, although incredibly talented, was rancid. Matt Cooke. Dave Nonis was Burke Jr. Schooled by Burke and was a walking Mini Me of Burke. Made some good moves, but the guys attitude was impossilbe to like. The Green Guys. The "Luuuuuuuuuuu" everytime a puck hits Luongo in the logo. Annoying, 2nd only to the Jordan Tootoo whistle. If you want to heap praise on a player, you wait for the player to accumulate a few great moments and then when he ragdolls an opponent and turns the tide of a game, all 18,000 of you chant his name in unison: "Todd Ber TU Zi!" Gillis is also super condescending in his interviews to the Team 1040. He is getting a little better, but just the other day I was thinking what a great interview Ken Holland is. Holland, Babcock, Devallano, Nil, the Illitch's, all people I would love to have over to my house for dinner. Not Gillis. Gillis is smart, though. He refers to Detroit as the Gold Standard for NHL franchises and that's what he wants to do in Vancouver. That's cool. It seems he has that team set up real well. On the other hand, who locks an unproven goalie up for 12 years? And I guess we will see about the Sedins. I've liked them for a long time and stood up for them when Canuck fans called them the Sedin Sisters. I am super glad that the twins won the Art Ross back to back. (Can you imaing eif Burke would have signed them in Toronto before Gillis resigned them, and they won the Art Ross back to back in Torontao instead of Vancouver! ) But Milbury was right when he called them the Twinkies saying they have been totally ineffective in round one and are afraid to go to the ruff parts of the ice, unlike Pavs and Z. It's cool that they have a Michigan boy leading the charge. AV is a likeable coach. I'm glad he is doing well. I've tried to like Burrows but just can't. I like Sammy, and Erhoff was a great addition. Torres? I just don't know about that guy. Manny Malhotra is a class act. (Married to NBA Steve Nash's sister) I wish him all the best in his recovery. Vancouver's attitude after beating Chicago was not right. I don't hate the Canucks, but they make it difficult to like them. A lot of people in Bellingham feel that way.

And from this point on, all four teams are now traveling about the same. Nashville to Vancouver is about the same as Detroit to San Jose. Of course, the East is all one time zone, what can you say.

That's a great clip, and I'll bet it's older than you!

Bryz can't trust his Dmen. That's why he couldn't hug the post on Cleary's goal; he had to split the difference. At the beginning of the series, all I heard about on CBC was the depth of Yote's D, (until PJ Stock jumps in laughing and says "they need it all because Dastsyuk is the greatest talent in the world!").

Dats for MVP; Helm for Taco Bell Unsung Hero. But I agree, Kronner played well, Lids was great, Howard made some huge timely saves, everyone stepped up in playoff mde.
-
I haven't noticed an over abundance of turnovers. WHat I have noticed is like the above poster said; he is using his size pretty well. I notice he'll take down two different puck handlers in one shift. He is passing well. And remember; there are turnovers and then there are turnovers. There is a lot of chipy little gnip gnop going on, players just slapping the puck around, in hockey in general, especially during playoff games. I haven't noticed him making the big glaring turnovers.

I lost respect for JovoCop. He looked like a bitter old man. And my respect for Doan went down. Awesome hockey player but he yaps damn near as much as Sean Avery. Kyle Turris is going to be a great player in this league.

When your team is up 2-0 and 3-0, it's a different situation. You have to be very careful about contributing to the rise of the overall emotion of the game in their building and then have it swing against you as a turning point.

It's a long grind to the Cup. Put the Mule in the barn for a rest, and dust off the highest scoring American of all time and let's see what he can do. Old Guys Rule.

HNIC Stanley Cup Preview on CBC right now. When reviewing the Wings-Yotes matchup Mclean says Phoenix has a lot of depth at D. P.J. Stock replies, "They are goining to need all those guys because they don't have much up front and Pavel Datsyuk is the greatest talent in the world". Good kid, that P.J., always liked him. Edit: I had to laugh; CBC actually used the Chara shoving Pac into the stantion on ther cut-to- commercial highlights. Classy, guys, real nice.

I can't believe how quick Bert escapes out from under keilsa to then rog doll him to the ice. Unbeleivable quickness and strength.
-
Need school kids at the games, that was great atmosphere. And you know what they say about Todd Bertuzzi; He calls the goalie Susie. Considering he's the most booed guy in the league, it must have been great for he and his family to hear the Joe chanting his name in appreciation. Awesome. Illitch needs to have college discounts to get those kids to the Joe more often.

Thanks for the link. I tried before I posted and my internet provider is not on the list.
-
Anyone have a link to the game?

You are correct, Sir. Of course I am still about the lose. And of course I want them to win, but I am a bit concerned. The team started off looking like Cup favorites at the beginning of the season. It seemed as if things happened too easily for them and they thought they'd better slow down and pace themselves for a long season. That coupled with the injuries and suddenly the've lost their Mojo and can't seem to get it back. Let's hope. Maybe it's time for Darren Helm to stand upand give a speech in the locker room. if everyone played as hard and as intense as Helmer, we wouldn't be talking about this. Go Wings

It won't be nearly as bad as the St Louis gmae. Nashville 7, Detroit 2.
