  1. I must say, I'm part of the demographic DatsDeke is lobbying for.
  2. If I lived in East Lansing this time of year I'd canoe the Grand, I'd practice eskimo rolls in Lake Lansing, I'd mountain bike Burch and Rose Lake or better yet take the short drive over to Yankee Springs and ride Devil's Soup Bowl. I'd hit many of the awesome Lake Michigan beaches, or even road trip up to Glen Harbor. I'd hit The Green Door for some live blues. I'd skateboard down the Habitrail. I'd shoot hoops on campus. Sling Frisbee on campus or play some disc golf or ultimate frisbee. Join in on a LaCross game or get one started. And I'd check in on LGW a couple times a day. But thats just me.

Osgood may retire following this season

I saw Ozzie speak about retiring after this year and he mentioned he'd really like to be a bull pen catcher for the Tigers after he retires. Seriously. That would be cool.
  4. I actually wish the Wings would win the Cup in early April; there's just way too much stuff to do in the summertime. Our TV is rarely on this time of year. This is probably an hours ride from my garage.

Red Wings Making Play for Modano

Why should the man not be able to talk to other teams and entertain other offers? It's his life, his family he has to move around, his income. If he get s a $2m offer from someone else, thats a hell of a lot different than a $1m yr, especially since it's his last year or two. I hope he looks at those other offers, and I hope he decides on Detroit. Look at the injuries we had last year and had to depend on a hot streak by Todd Bertuzzi of all people.

Bob Probert passes away at 45

Never saw Battle of the Blades last year. I heard the producers told Probie that if he does it, Domi would do it too; and then they told Domi that Probie said if Domi would do it, he would do it too. So they both agreed to do it. Love his attitude, he was crackin up out there just having fun. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-pL0hU0zZ-A&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVJRomwjPTs&feature=related

Take off your Homer glasses and see the facts: Chicago Blackhawks 2010 Stanley Cup Champions. Detroit Red Wings 2010 also rans. That is the Hockey's Holy Grail grabbed by the nuts. Mission accomplished. Talon, Bowman & Bowman, whoever, hockey is back in Chicago after a long, long absence. They could have farted around like Toronto and not gone anywhere and not gotten any picks in return for going no where. But instead, Chicago took the bull by the horns and won the frickin Stanley Cup. And now they have a 2010 Stanley Cup and better picks than the Wings do. The Bowman's were handed a great roster that would self destruct at the stroke of midnight after the '09-'10 season, and they are getting a lot more out of the scrap pile than anyone thought they would. A core group of awesome talent (a ton of Olympians), and some periphery players to fill in and step up. Where's the sarcasm you're hoping for? It's one thing to hate your rivals, but it's another thing to underestimate them.

No doubt. I think the Bowmans are doing a great job of restoring that franchise. Most teams try a longer range plan to someday win the Cup. Instead, they took their young guys and added expensive veterans and went for broke and won a frikin Stanley Cup. It seemed like they went from crap to winning the Cup in only two seasons. Vancuover's going on 40 yrs without winning the Cup. Now they have to lose a lot of guys, but they are restocking the farm while they still have a stud nucleus on the ice to remain competitive. I for one say good job Chicago, good job Stan and Scotty.
  11. While looking for info on where Matt Butcher is these days in the Canuck system, I came across this short Canucklehead"s prospects video. Kinda cool. 1. Watch it and say "Hey, thanks T.Low, that was kinda cool". 2. Anyone find anything like this for the Wing's prospects? http://www.nucksmisconduct.com/2010/7/6/1555835/canucks-prospects-camp-day-1

Nabokov leaves the NHL, signs with KHL

Does anyone else see the irony of the N. American hockey league using a centrally planned system (salary cap) and the Russian using more of a free market system for a team's roster based on supply and demand and simple cost/benefit projections?. Sheesh. What's this country coming to?

I agree. I predict he's gonna go Quincy in Toronto.

    Tired of the Hawks?

It's not reasoning and it's not logic. It's simply an observation of fact. Chicago won the Stanley Cup by way of Vancouver and San Jose, not thru Detroit. That's all he's saying. Why are you so sensitive to it? And too bad all the Chicago fans are back to watching baseball like usual so you have no one to talk hockey with except the real hockey fans of the Detroit Red Wings.

Got goosebumps listenning to that crowd and seeing him humbly standing there with his hands in his pockets, then misty eyed watching him escort Vladdy out there...damn

VERY sad. I just heard on a Vancouver FM radio station. May you Rest In Peace, Bob Probert. Very sad for his family. He was just getting his life together in last few years. An acquaintance of mine fought him at the Joe. Here's the PG version: It was Probie's first game back after the suspension for the 11 grams of coke he tried to bring across the border. The Game Program featured Kocur, Probert, and I can't remember the 3rd guy, but they all had their shirts off and the caption read something like "700 pounds of beef". As they lined up for the face off my buddy (who shall remain nameless- he doesn't need this story coming up when people google his name) said to Probert "Hey, shouldn't the game program have said "700 lbs and 11 grams?. Then we dropped the goves right then and there and there. OMG what was I thinking?". He had a lot of life to live, yet. I can find a little peace in the fact his last moments were spent out on a boat on a beautiful day surrounded by loved ones.

Is Vancouver the team to beat?

There is no "team to beat" in the West. It's up for grabs, but Vancouver has as good a shot at taking it as anybody. Observing the facts: Vancouver made it into the final four in the West last year, then got ousted by Chicago, but after blowing Chicago out in the first game. Chicago got weaker, Vancouver got better, Detroit got marginally better, San Jose...? And some of the main Chicago guys that disrupted Vancouver's game are gone. So...who is the favorite? Chicago will make the playoffs and once your in, who knows whats going to happen, but they're sure not the favorite. So, is Detroit the favorite? No. San Jose? Not at this moment. It could definitely be Vancouver's time. The Sedins need to take the next step in the playoffs. Luongo needs to get rid of the C and get his mellon together. Sammy needs another blockbuster year, as does Raymond and Burroughs, and the D line is more solid.

Looks like Hedberg is holding out in ATL

Hope that approach works for them. My local bowling team has a lot of players that are the same race as me, but I still don't go to any of thier games. I'm just saying...
