Hossa barely touched him, but it doesn't take much to send a guy into the boards in that situation and it could have been catastrophic. As a Hossa fan, I still think he should have been tossed from the remainder of the game at least, maybe even a one game suspension. Just because the guy didn't get injured is no excuse. I can't believe Hossa would push a guy from behind like that after doing a header into the boards himself last year so badly (in San Jose?)

Sounds kinda *** to me. I guess thats why I never joined MyFace.

I just saw the save on NHL videos. It's hard to tell, but it looks like the shot actually knocks it off. Is that right? If thats correct, that's a huge save. Unbeleivable concentraion. I've seen Luongo more than once flinch and react by going down to protect himself rather than continue with his concentration and keep after the puck. That was amazing.

I don't think they did actully learn. Haven't you seen the pic of the mural with Toews and the Stanley Cup? Where have they been all these years, how do they not know these things?
-
Those are great pics. Luv the intensity on Kronner's face, too.

Like it did from "08 to '09?

I was sorta thinking the same thing. I would not know Lady Gaga if I saw her, never heard the song, and not sure I could tell Beyonce if I saw her or heard her, although I do recall thinking she was hot.(I'm just not into pop culture) I guess you had to be there. Good thread, none the less.

I saw the leg extended also, and yes he knew exactly what he was doing. However, it is a hcokey stop, not a kicking motion, and whats more is that he had to support himself with a Dman draped all over him. The only way you can do that is to get the leg way out exactly like that. Wihtout the wider base and increased leverage of the leg extended, he would have highsided in the goalie from the force of the Dman pushing on him. I'm not a big Canuck fan, and don't really care who wins this series; its just my observation. Not much of Canada outside of Toronto actually thinks much of Toronto, but there definitely is no love lost between the cities of Toronto and Vancouver, period. It's kind of amusing to watch from the outside.

What a Horse s*** call. Watch Milbury in the video; it's all he can do to sit still and listen to Murphy's BS. Sedin knew exactly what he was doing. He absolutely had to "hockey stop" so why not hockey stop into the puck. It may be a loop hole in the rules, but loopholes are legal. And his only other choices were to make sure to NOT stop there( which would be ridiculous), or not turn his skate at all, thus not stop at all and get a goalie interference call. He made a great split second decision, did the right thing and did not get rewarded for a smart, athletic play that was (theoretically)inside the existing rules. But I could not stomache the whinning on Vancouver's Team 1040 yesterday. As the Red Wings have shown, champions have to overcome this kind of bulls***. Life is full of bulls*** piled aginst you and with people that do not want you to succeed. Deal with it.

And we have Bertuzzi almost scoring goals for a lot less cap hit.

Marian Hossa was an outsider coming here to play with our already successful team. He was here for the one year and we knew all along we would not be able to keep him, and now he is playing for a rival city. It's easier to blame and hate on the rental guy rather than put any responsiblity of failure on our own boys. Its human nature.

The D did their job? $6m+ Raf***ingfalski lets Stalh walk right by him and score THEE shorthanded goal that was the defining moment that turned the series around. Hossa was a part, and yes a big part, but he was not alone. he had plenty of failed backup. Losing to Pittsburgh in the Stanley Cup Finals was a team effort. The Wings were worn out, injured, snake bitten, and generally unable to fend off the charge by the younger, healthier, more excited Penguins. Whoever hoists The Stanley Cup deserves The Stanley Cup.

Can you imagine what the rest of the west will think as they watch Detroit dismantle Chicago in the first? And why wait? Why let them get their stride? Why let them get into a groove by winning a series, or even worse, two series? Feck, they'll be no living with them, then. Go out and whip their ass early before they know what's happened. Win Game 1 in Chicago (or Vancouver) with authority, then OTL in Game 2, then sweep in Detroit and close it out on the road in 5, taking a 3 game streak into round two.

Yes, it would be classic. No, he does not deserve to get the wrong end of the stick. He is part of the reason we didn't win the cup last year, as is the definition of team. Dats, Z, Lids, Pavs, Raffi, all part of the reason we lost. They all failed. Hossa does not suck.

I would prefer the Canucks in the first round. Chances are we will see them in the 2nd if not the first and that seems more dangerous. They are cold streaking right now and we are hot. We can take them down quick before they have a chance to regain their mojo. If we see them in the 2nd, they will be full of round one winning confidence and thats when they are really tough. Taking this theory one step further, I would want to face the best teams first, Chicago or Vancouver. Get either one of them right away before they have a chance to gain playoff confidence. Then hope that someone knocks off whichever one we don't play.
-
It's his incredibly competitive nature; he wants to compete at the highest level.
-
Priceless. Kind of encouraging that we've played the vast majority of the season with the $32m payroll due to injuries, yet we are right there even with Pittsburgh in points.

Yes actually, I would prefer the Canucks in the first round. Chances are we will see them in the 2nd if not the first and that seems more dangerous. They are cold streaking right now and we are hot. We can take them down quick before they have a chance to regain their mojo. If we see them in the 2nd, they will be full of round one winning confidence and thats when they are really tough. Taking this theory one step further, I would want to face the gest teams first, Chidago or Vancouver. Get either one of them right away before they have a chance to gain playoff confidence. Then hope that someone knocks off whichever one we don't play.

I'm always traveling this time of year. It's great except of course the SCPlayoffs are beginning. Last year, I didn't even know who the Wings were playing in the first round until I snuck into an all inclusive resort in Punta Mita and watched the game in the bar with a handful of Canadians. I really don't want the hassle of taking my lap top with me, I'd rather travel lighter than that since I'm flying instead of driving my van. Leaving Seattle Friday nite after midnight. I couldn't help but notice the Wings fans on LGW from all over the world...but don't recall seeing any from Mexico (ha ha). So, anyone else gonna be at Yo Yo Mo's sports bar in Sayulita, Mexico for Game I? Even though we didn't really watch it, the Super Bowl was on in a beach side palapa in Akumal, Quintanna Roo, while we were there a few years ago...but as we all know, the NHL is a different animal entirely.
-
Yeah. I just hope that Hossa Curse > Bertuzzi Curse.
-
I see what you did there...being right and all. And he's actually behind his ppg in Calgary. I guess the grandma in me likes to think he's found a certain happiness with our beloved team.
-
I would have to think this post Olympic stretch is the best he's felt playing hockey in many years. this may be his best year since before Moore.

Oh and I just rememberred, Roberto Luongo got voted Most Overrated! Ha! The Vancouver guys were talking about that.
-
Ha. Thanks for reminding me. Listenning to Vancouver's Team 1040 the other day they were talking about that anonymous NHL player's poll and said the voted most overrated player was their very own Roberto Luongo. Ha!
-
I heard The Team 1040 in Vancouver talking about the poll. They said Crosby was voted 2nd best player, Malkin and Zetterberg received the same amount of votes to tie for 3rd, and Joe Thornton and Datsyuk received the same amount to tie for 4rth.
