Zetterberg the best swede in nhl, accoring to Team Sweden players
T.Low replied to a topic in General
Dude, ya gotta luv it: all these posters knowing better than the professional hockey players that are currently on the ice day in and day out with all the other Swedes in the poll. -
You should have seen the '02 Stanley Cup victory empty netter by Shanny; very exciting. Thanks for the OP, that was great. It was indeed a sweet move by Kesler.
-
Indeed one of the "bad bounces" Crosby was referring to in his post game interview. But, in the words of the immortal Darrin McCarty, "That's hockey!"
-
Old Guys Rule! Rafalski (the oldest guy on the ice) really stepped up showing some increbile leadership. He new he had to take the entire Canadian crowd out of the game and he did exactly that with his first goal just minutes into the game. All of Canada was stunned. Then he didn't let Team Canada get any momentum as he answered their first score with another goal right away, again taking the crowd out of the game.
-
Well said. Langenbrunner played fundamental hockey; he went to the net and put himself in the right place at the right time and thats a recipe for success. If he is not there, then it just looks like Rafalski missed the net horribly.

I love Canada, but at the same time, you see that they really could have had it all; British culture, French quisine, and American know-how. Instead they ended up with American culture, British quisine, and French know-how. Ouch.
-
Miller, Rafalski, Jack Johnson, Tim Thomas, Tim Gleason, Ryan Kesler, all claiming Michigan as their home state. Cool.
-
OK, has anyone seen Team Canada Scott Nedermayer interviewed at all? I think I've only seen Sidney Crosby interviews.

I live a lot, thanks. I'm taking "Early Release Friday" in about 15 minutes to go enduro riding thru the Cascade mountains all weekend. I'll be laughing a little with each wheelie and grinning ear to ear all weekend. Will have my laptop hooked up inside my van so I don't miss US v Canada Sunday. The only bummer is that it's too cold to wear my black Wings practice jersey (that matches my black and red GasGas fse 450), I'll have to wear a jacket instead. I don't mean to be condescending, I just never thought making fun of someone's looks was funny. Especially after 7 pages of the weekly Crosby Sucks thread. Cheers

I remember Stevie Y lobbing one over a Dman for and empty netter, long ago.

That would have a chance of being humorous if there were actually some sort of hideous feature about Crosby's face...but its not abnormal at all, nor especially ugly, so it is simply a very sophmoric statement. I mean, that could be more accurately said about Pavel Datsyuk, for example. Sheesh. Give it a rest already. I'm starting to like the guy just because you guys are giving him such a rash of s*** it makes me want to stick up for him.

Out of the Team of States Tourney, Minni could be the team to beat. Wonder what the Teams of Providences would look like. Ontario and BC could be fightening, I suspect. Could Team Michigan compete with Team Sweden? After all, they are both drawn from a population of just under 10 million.
-
So far the Michigan connection is doing well in the Olympic Tourney. I would like to see Ryan Miller brought home to wear a Winged Wheel. Wonder how different the Canucks program would be if they had gotten home town boy Burnaby Joe Sakic. That being said, even though I know Pat LaFontaine (played baseball with him as a kid) I'm glad we got Stevie Y instead of the homegrown talent in that particular situation. Nothing against Pat. He's terrific. But ya can't compete with a Legend.

I thought that was the "good points, all" icon, signifying good post.

"Most importantly, as Bettman said, the NHL loans out its players to participate in the Olympics and the more than 140 competing in the current tournament add up to $2 billion in contract salaries. "For two weeks we loan out the most important assets in our game and nobody should underestimate that," Bettman said." Olympic hockey with NHL palyers is exciting as hell, I hope they are able to play in 2014. But Bettman's got a point. It's not as simple as most of you seem to think it is. Personally, if NHL players were not in the Olympics, I would not alter my day to watch the games the same way I am this year. And yeah, it's not like NHL players were always in Olympics; quite the contrary actually.

Maybe I'm not annoyed because I don't watch that much tv in the first place. I watch the Red Wings when they are on HNIC, or sometimes on the internet. But I don't bother with cable tv and don't pay that much attention to the media. That way, I don't hate somebody because the media may be trying to sell him too much. They may be shoving Crosby down your throat, but they don't have access to mine. The media doesn't have influence over who I like or don't like.

Finally.

2010 Winter Olympics - Slovakia vs Russia (Group B)

Yet Hudler is not on the Czech team... -
I'm watching CTV out of Vancouver and they are not pushing him any more than he deserves... No matter what you punkasses out in internet hockey BS land think, that 22 yr old kid is awesome and has the respect of Stevie Y and Mike Babcock, WHo do you think told him to get his ass out there and do it right this time for round two of the shoutout tonite against Switzerland? He always has a camera on him and always has a mic in his face and rarely says the wrong thing. I don't particularly like the kid, but my respect for him is growing.

Sure, he's good, but who would you take off the team to fit him in? -
Yeah, I kinda looked at that statement for minute too, especially after Team Canada's major lack of chemistry last night against Norway. (Major sarcasm warning for some of the slower people on LGW; you know who you are) Yes they were playing Norway...but Canada looked focussed and unbeatable last night. They are a team on mission. The entire team had as much chemistry as the Sedin twins have. It was an unbelievable display of hockey. Babcock couldn't even keep a straight face on the bench.

His old man is tough as nails and a hard worker. His step mom's not too bad either (Cammi Granato). I'd really like to see him succeed.

I saw this Olympic Hockey special about Team Canada. They showed Yzerman's Olympic goal and the erie part was when Pronger skated in for a celabratory hug with Stevie. I threw up in my mouth at the site of it.
