I hope this isn't a replay of the Comiskey Park Winter CLassic with roles reversed. Great to see the Wings step it up. Go Team!

Fleury pursuing charges against Graham James

The book, the comeback, the charges, its all about a man reaching a point in his life where he is reflective and wants to set things straight.

Atleast take his mouthpiece out of his mouth and throw it on the ice.

Wonder how much of that is due to his wrist injury. Ya gotta think it's not 100% yet. I'm still not used to the Wings getting outshot so badly. 7-13 so far.

Fleury pursuing charges against Graham James

I heard his interview on Vancouver's Team 1040 a month or two ago; Some seriously heavy s***. To think my nephew is that age right now playing hockey, I would kill someone if they lead him down that path... WARNING: SOme of you may want to stop reading right here: As a 14 and 15 year old living away from home playing hockey, James would take FLuery and (the other kid, can't remember his name) out and party and get them wasted on booze and whatever else. Then he'd take them back to the hotel room and tell them (paraphrasing) "this is how real men have sex with each other". On road trips James would alternate, one night with Fleury and one night with other kid. So then he started drinking all the time as a 14 year old, cause he was so confused about what the hell was going on. He was drunk or hungover at most games. He said "what the hell did I know, at 14 your dick gets hard when the wind blows and you're not quite sure what to do with it". You may be able to get a pod cast from the team 1040.
  6. I saw the clip 3 times on the local news last night, (I live near Vancouver). In Burroughs defense, he was riding a bike during the post game interview and he was quite emotional about the situation and kinda got nervous during the interview, maybe knowing he had to watch what he said...I think he sort of mispoke when he said "I think". He is a Frenchy, so English is more a 2nd language than primary maybe. It kinda looked like he all the sudden got choked up by all the cameras and mics in his face. I burned a goalie in a beer leauge pretty badly, only to find out that he reffed in one of my other leagues. Sure enough he was reffing when I tied the game up with a one timer with less than a minute left and he skated right in front of me, looked me in the eye and yelled "NO GOAL!" as he waived it off with that ******* arm wave off move right in my face. Said my winger was in the crease. We lost the game. In the post game handshake the oppossing goalie told me he didn't know what the hell the ref was talking about, there was no one even close to crease when I scored.

    Jiri Hudler back next season?

Sammy has 15 goals and 30 points so far this year; good for 1st in goals on the Wings (along with Holmer, and ahead of Datsyuk and Zetterberg) and 3rd in points. Go Sammy, Go!

But..the Wings have more loser points than most of the teams in the hunt.

    Holland going to re-sign Holmstrom?

I'd think they'd offer "Holmer" a 1 or 2 year deal. He has a specific role on the first line (at which he is undeniably the best in the league) which results in him being a great $ value and makes it a heck of a lot easier to move the talent down into 2nd and 3rd lines. The Canadian Nicknaming system commonly cuts the last name off at the end of the first syllable and adds an "er" to the end of it, when applicable. Holmstrom - strom + er = Holmer. In the case that the player's name already ends in an "er" or a "y", or something alse that wouldn't work with an "er", the last syllable is dropped , and "s" or "y" is added as needed. Draper = Drapes Maltby= Malts Datsyuk = Dats Garth Butcher= Butchy When the player's last name is already only one syllable, the appropriate addition is often obvious. Helm = Helmer Bret Hull = Hully It's pretty simple, but effective. I'd think with so many f you living so close to the Candian border (as have I all my life one way or another) would know this. Actually, Bret Hull's mom Joanne filled me in on the details after she refferred to my buddy Garth Butcher as Butchy. And life suddenly became so clear to me. But call him Homer is you want, and always chant "In the crease...out of the crease...in the crease...out of the crease" in the back of your mind while you do.

Pretty soon - Who are the THREE odd men out?

but they've got to know that Janik is the future here, Lebda and Meech have given everything they've got to this organization and done all they can in Wings Uni, it's time to set them free to flourish elsewhere. Detroit could right a book on the quality Defensemen they've lost one way or another in modern history.

While I do realize that there are some quality players in the Wings lineup, at first glance comparing it to last year's lineup it looks like Datsyuk and a beer league team. GO Pasha, GO!

    Red Wings First-Half Grades

I did not see a team grade. Objectively speaking, since they are currently out of the top eight, I'd have to go with a C+. If they were in the top eight, a B-. That being said, I wish I had time to make the following thread: Take other top team's rosters and scratch guys off that are somewhat comparable to the Wings injured and see what's left of there team. Gotta get back to work.

    Our 3rd and 4th lines

I see where you're going with those lines. However, I would like to see Filp center Franzen and Bertuzzi. It may turn out to be total vanilla, or it may turn into something very difficult as hell to play against. I'm curious and want to see it. And I like the thought of Clears teamed up with The Nightmare on Helm St and All Hallows Eaves, that would be a scary line to play against and could provide some clutch secondary (tertiary?) scoring. The Wings are hanging in there despite the redonkulous amount of serious injuries and off season losses. Hopefully the returning guys will get their mid season legs quickly and provide a big spark to get into the playoffs and begin playing their best hockey right at playoff time.

Why do you guys think the Canuckleheads are waivin the guy? Because they hoped he would quarterback the Power Play and provide some Offense, but he HAS NOT. His gas guage says EMPTY. He is 40 and done.

    Crosby hurting Pens?

NHL Hockey is a business. Crosby sells more jerseys, puts more people in the stands, sells more airtime than Z or D or anyone else for that matter. Not to mention he had as many goals in two games as Datsyuk has all season at the time of this posting. While I m a huge fan of Z & D and not so much of Crosby, he is indeed worth the investment. And don't forget, if Draper and the Wings would have done their jobs last June, they wouldn't have had to piss and moan that Crosby was too busy skating with the Cup to shake hands with their Captain.

    The trapezoid.

Get rid of the trapezoid?!!! Thats discrimination! The NHL has circles, rectangles, triangles, hell ,even lines and dots! But you guys pick on the lowly trapezoid. Geometric discrimination!!! Its a stupid rule though, no doubt. A very socialist way of thinking: Pulling down and penalizing the hardworking skilled acheivers to equalize them with the less talented, less committed proletariat. If Turco can play the puck out there and wants to risk it, let him, and let the cards fall where they may. Teams must learn to play the Stars accordingly. If Luongo can't play the puck outside of the Tzoid, TFB. The Canucks will adapt to his strengths and weaknesses, and teams will play them accordingly. Thats sports. Turco has excellent stick handling skills because he worked very hard to acquire them. Luongo does not have those skills because he never worked hard enough or spent enough time to acquire them. He was simply concerned with blocking shots, not dangling.

He really didn't say that, did he?

See, if its not derogatory, you really don't have an insult there, now do ya? See how that works. Start at the 9 minute mark with Guiseppe Yakeveta and just watch the last 40 seconds. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ER6YfWt8HQk...feature=related "The '90s are killing me! You're not suppossed to tella guy you're gonna kill him no more. I gotta tip toe through the tulips with these assholes. It's taking all of the fun...outta the job."

He really didn't say that, did he?

Europe actually does not have it's own race. That was a nationalistic comment. Only North America (minus Mexico) is so uptight that there would be a suspension handed down for a nationalistic comment like that. Canada seems to go way overboard with Political Correctness. Ridiculously so.
