STand up and be counted. Which site has more of the other teams fans. While I don't think there is anything wrong with other teams sites, I'm not on any sort of disney.com or whatever, everything I need to know about hockey I can find here. Who's on both and what are your experiences? How are they similar and how are they different (other than the obvious!).

Not to be a conspiracy theorist here, but i have this...conspiracy theory. That NBA ref was busted a few years ago for being involved with a gambling ring. Was watching the game at a pub last night and couldn't tell if something specific happened to sparked Datsyuk standing up to Pronger of if he just had enough thruought the game. I saw at first they had words and later some shoves. Props to Dats for not taking any s*** or backing down.

Ahh, yes, the OSHL. The schedule could then be cut back to 70 games so each team could play each other 14 times. Sweet. The NHL teams are each an NHL " franchise" though...could be a (high)sticking point. I do like the thought of an OS division, except for the fact that then there could never be an OS Stanley Cup Final. Cut out some of the dopey teams (markets), I welcome contraction. They've been trying so hard to grow the game that its come at expense of the integrity of the game.

I totally agree with you that he should be able to speak freely. And it pisses me off that he gets his ass beat for doing so. However, he is proof that what i say is true. I guess the difference is that he and you have not seen it before to know that it is an ugly truth, and many of us here have. Ask his bloody nose if it matters or not. There are evil, bad, mean nasty, illogical, unreasoning people out there that do not embrace the same values as you and I. I strongly doubt these thugs were actually at the game, inside the arena. If they pick oppossing team jersey's they may feal they are less likely to encounter intervention. I rmember the Rodney King riots where Regianld Denny got dragged out of his semi truck and kicked and beaten with in inches of his life. many punk asses saw this and imitated it in Dallas after the Cowboys won the super bowl, and soon after at another sporting event. I remember being in a restaraunt it MSU and hearing a dishwasher say "man, LA, and Dalls got there's when do we get to have ours!?. Be aware. These assholes exist. Just check out youtube and see how many peole get killed by random violence while sitting at a park bench. BE aware.

Dude, too funny you should say that. It was an outdoor shop and all i could think was that we were wrestling way too close to a $20,000 rack of composite sea kayaks. The vison of the carnage of expensive broken boats flashed across my mind, so i picked him up and body slammed him head first in the other direction into a Prijon, (the toughest blow molded plastic kayak on the market) that was sitting on the floor. I beat on him against the Prijon so bad his buddies didn't know what to do. And before anyone gets all righteous on me, there was a long history with theses thugs and my store, and this was the last straw. People still tell me that they were eating lunch at the side walk cafe across the street from my store when that went down.

I didn't address your cell phone comment. Yes, use the cell phone and alert the police to a potential situation. Been there, done that. Good thing to do. And as a matter of fact, the last fight I was in, I was potentially saved by the cell phones of observers that didnt' otherwise want to get involved. I had detained a thief, and before I knew it was the three of us(including my girlfriend!) against ten of them. I must have looked like a rabid dog because after I took care of the thief, the others just shouted and prodded but didn't charge and we held out until the cops got there. I managed to drag the thief back into my store and two of the thugs followed us in. I shouted at my girlfriend to lock the others out and it literally became a cage match with 7 f***heads beaten on the glass worse than any hockey game until the police showed up. 10 yrs later you realize how lucky you were to survive that s***... I didn't mean "walk on by when kids and women are getting shoved around, be a *****, it s unfortunate, but thats life. I meant, its unfortunate that there are assholes like that looking to sucker punch someone, but thats life, learn to know it when you see it.

You guys are totally correct. ANd in the playoffs, the league does not want the game to be determined by the refs (if you can believe that after last night) so the penalty calls will not be there. During the season, the Wings thrived off the Power Play, not 5 on 5. And now the PP is not going to be there. Its going to be interesting.

If a group of thugs yells random sports rivalry s*** at other teams fans as they walk by, there is no harm done. My kids and my wife will be fine, so i would not ask you to intervene. It is a flammable situation like gasoline. Its harmless as you simply walk by it, but it could be lethal if you ignite it. Don't ignite it unless you are willing to deal with the consequences is all I said. If you intervene and violence erupts, then maybe my wife gets sucker punched in the mouth and mamed for life. You may kick some ass, but you cannot control the collateral damage. As soon as you've stopped the car, rolled the window down, and said anything, you've ignited it. Edit: How could I sleep at night if anyone in my family ended up in a wheel chair for life because I had to be the big man and open my big mouth? Thats a nice theory that I tend to agree with, but you are missing the point. The reality of what happenned was that anything said to those thugs from a stopped car would be, and were in fact, fighting words. They were bad people looking to find anyone to inflict violence on, not particularly needing a reason. Unfortunately, people like that do exist, and as a responsible adult, you need to recognize them when you see them.

DId I mention that i think it was awesome that Dats was in his face?!! I think Pronger was kinda laughing becfause he was a little startled and suprised that Pavel wasn't backing down an inch. By no means am I saying Pronger was scared, rather a bit suprised.
