Yeah, I got to admit, putting a big time tax cheat in charge of the IRS is pretty intelligent and progressive. Even the strongest Homer has to admit that. Edit: Did you have to pay GST on that KooL Aid or was Acorn handing it out at the Duty Free?

:ranting : Ha thats funny.

Sometimes a goalie just needs a hug from his Forwards. Wasn't he an All-Star last year? He hasn't been the same guy ever since he got injured in Sarah Palin's carpet. I don't feel bad for him. I have a hunch that he will still make quite a bit more money than I make, even when he goes to Peoria. What kind of car does he usually drive to practice?

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong (as if I have to ask ) but I could have sworn I heard Mickey say last night that Huds is playing 2nd best only to Datsyuk on the Wings lately. Not that I want to split hairs and start a debate about who's playing better (Hossa is of course doing awesome) and exactly what he meant by that (production value to ice time?) but either way, that is high praise and high recognition.

Red Wings send Abdelkader back to Griffins, call up Darren Helm

This is a good thing: playoff games are usually close games. But what i really want to know is how are they winning the games. Are they ahead by two or three and giving up goals at the end to make the game close, or are they behind or tied and pulling it out in the end? Those are two different scenarios that may relate to playoff success or failure. Seems to me to be a bit of both and not necessarily enough to draw any conclusions. Any empirical evidence to support a theory either way? Anyone?

Excited to see Helm up. I hope its for longer than just a mocha. Whats the deal, are these guys having to clear waivers or what? -

Saw Ville's awesome first goal on the highlights. Sweet. Thanks, guys. Edit: trying to type Abelkekders name screwes up mu typung for thr est of the day! 2nd edit: Oh yeah, and how did Fedorov do? Damn, I wanted to see that game.

And of course Bertuzzi started it just like these Homer announcers say Iginla started this one as he "unexpectedly goes after Tootoo".

I want Hossa, Franzen, Hudler, Fillpula, Veino, Ericsson, Abdelkader, Helm,...I want it all. I guess that's why I'm a Red Wings fan in the first place.

$1 Hot Dogs, baby, hell yeah! Hockey cheerleaders are annoying.

I got lucky when I finally had a coach that was good at player assessment. He figured out right away that I never hit my target with my shot. He told me to start trying to hit the goalie with every shot and damned if I didn't start scoring! Edit: Thats a true story. And one time I was right on the goalie's door step, 4 feet away from the crease, yet somehow I still managed to hit the Mountain Dew display over the glass.

I saw Wa Husky club team goalie face 75 shots, loosing to Western Wa 5-4 or something. He looked like Jet Lee out there. Girls basketball 100-0, loosing team school wants an apology! Puh-leeze. http://highschool.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=903780

I randomly sent an email to a sports writer named Kurt Mensching after reading an online article he wrote about NMU Wildcat Hockey, asking about Butcher's absence and he said he was going to talk to the Wildcats coach later and would ask him for me. He just emailed back and said most likely out for the season with a hip injury. Ouch. Thanks, Kurt, for taking the time to do that.

Good points, all of you. Dr. Sapirstein, , I'm luvin' it. GMR, you're spot on. The ASG has been a sorry excuse for a showcase for a long time and the Wings have played along with the silly dog and pony show just to support the NHL, and now this? Lidstrom's been Mr Cool Norris Nick for all these years, he's 38 and after working at one of themost intense, emotionally and physically demanding jobs, he gets less timeoff than my Fiancee does from her job. He's fecking injured for pete's sake. The league can feck awph when the WIngs win the cup. Then there's this crap: The anti-Lidstrom crowd cause its getting boring that he's so perfect and awesome. Pisses me off. http://blog.mlive.com/snapshots/2009/01/bu...e_antilids.html I don't think the league wants to piss off the sleeping giant. But I hope they continue to do just that.

Who do you take? Datsyuk or Fedorov (in his prime). If you (SK1) would have asked me two years ago I would have said hands down Sergei Fedorov because he was such an incredible all round player. His shot, his skating ability, his speed, his size and strength. Wasn't it Bowman who said that if the experiment with Feds as Dman would have been permanent he would have won the Norris? To me Feds=scoring The thing about Datsyuk that I find most amazing is that he still is getting better, both at the things he already does unbelievably well, as well as the things he didn't used to do well at all, like hitting. What is left to be said about Pavel's forechecking and backchecking, and his patented lift the stick and steal. His passing skills, his legendary dekes. His shooting is up this year. He is amazing. Datsyuk=playmaking anywhere on the ice. I guess for me, the fact that Fedorov has never been the same player since he left Detroit, for whatever reason, seems to be alittle bit telling. Hopefully, we'll never find out how Pavs does in a different uni. At this point, I'm leaning toward Datsyuk. Without getting into the whole arguement about how/why Feds left, what do you guys think? Dats or Feds?

And Marc Crawford on HNIC was talking about the incredible depth on the Red Wings his example was, "I mean c'mon, they got a guy like Valterri Filppula on the 3rd line for crying outloud. Opposing coachs hate that!"

At the 1 minute mark, watch Feds split the seam down the middle and just fly past the entire Canadiens team to get the feed and score. 5 goal game. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKJ5oj7vKlI What hasn't been said about Dats. Datsyuk Ownage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9wBJ7o9Boc...feature=related Datsyuk Dangles:

Peak performance vs consistency: I would think that a few guys on the same team having peak performance years would give you a better chance at winning the Cup those particular years, than a team of consistency.
-
Watching the youtube highlight vid of Feds: Wow. The way he could burst right down the middle to fill the lane and just pass guys like they were shoveling snow or something. What a freight train.

I'd like to be the guy delivering the Little Ceaser's to those meetings.

Good post. Makes me think that: Fedorov=Bo Jackson Datsyuk=Barry Sanders Daniels would have said that "he;s just been Fedorized!" or something, you're right.
