Its too bad a lot of you can't get past the way Gary Bettman looks, the freaky way he talks, and the way he physically shakes when he tries to talks. I'm sure that if it were up to him he would look like (insert name of your hero here) He is actually a very intelligent man. You guys don't like him because he brought a hockey team to Nashville, Phoenix, ? I don't get it. He is a lot more respectful to the people he talks to than NBA commish David Stern, thats for sure. You can debate wether or not he is doing a good job as a comissioner, but people a lot smarter than you and I, and a lot more successful (the team owners) are the ones that really know what he is doing and how well he is doing it. He made a point about how vulgar the term "sloppy seconds" is. I mean, c'mon the visual that brings up is not what I want to think or hear about when I'm watching hockey with a lady in the room, namely my 70 year old mother. I'm beginning to wonder if most of you even know what the term means. Flame away, I can take it, its only the internet.

In this case, Avery went out of the lockerroom and asked the reporters if there was a TSN camera around so he could say his little prepared vulgar statement. Yes, I think its fine to say whatever you want to say on the ice in the context of the game. That is considered "sporting". It would have been funny as hell if Avery said that to Phanueff during a game. Averys teammates would have thought it was awesome. It was stupid as hell to go out and tell the press to gather round because I have something funny to say. It doesn't at all have the same effect. His teamates think he's an idiot because of it. I gaurantee the 6 game suspension came in part from the Dallas organization so they could figure out what the hell to do with him. The team didn't want him back after that. Not a single guy in that lockerroom stood up for him after those remarks, they all just shook their heads and said something like, yeah, thats avery alright. They were embarrassed. And let me tell from experience, these are guys that think nothing of going to strip clubs that cost $500 a person to get into where everything is game. These guys have seen it all. But there is a time and a place for everything. Discretion is the better part of valor.

This is a great move for the Canucks who have already beaten the Wings and the Rangers (6-3). Wellwood and Sundin have an excellent little history together and with Dimetra make a very solid first line. ANd more importantly, that puts the Sundeens back on the second line. Thats a legitimate top six, plus they still have over 2 million for a pro rated trade deadline acquisition. They are sitting pretty.

Well said, and props to you for saying it. I actually agree with the intent of Bettmans arguement here. You can't say things like "sloppy seconds" on the air. Bettman was very reasonable on the interview i saw when the reporter asked if it would have been ok for avery to say it on the ice, he replied, "if Avery would have said it on the ice, then you and I are not having this discussion."

I think a lot of people, myself included, just want to see somebody different in net for a few games. I am kinda anxious to see how Howard or Larsssssson would perform. Personally, I don't care if the Wings don't win the Presidents Trophy this year. It might do them some good not to. I'd be willing to gamble just to see the youngens play a few. Like last year when they went 1-10 as the Detroit Red Griffs. It was an interesting spell.

Bryzgolov to Gretzky from across the ice: "Its 14 to frikin 3 and you want an extra attacker for the last minute and a half?!! Yeah, I saw the Pittsburgh game, too, coach, but ..."

IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII LIKE IT! Could be good. Do you think Hudler is kind of a Mini Me Hossa, though? But you almost can't go wrong with those six, as long as Holmer and Franzen are split up.

somebody with more IT skill than I have, needs to put the Grier video in the Sharks thread and say "Sharks?, you mean these guys?"

I hope you regret your decision to regret your decision to join LGW so you could complain about people that complain about people, only to prompt more people to complain about people who complain about peple who complain. As far as your post goes, I can't complain because I have no complaint to complain. If there were an Evil Dr. Suese, he would have sponsored this thread. But I'm not complaining, I'm just saying...

Agree. They look like they all bought them at the same corner sports supply store. I do like the original Ducks jersey's too. But if they had to change logos and names, I thought that they should have dumped the Ducks portion of it and just be called The Mighty. There's a helluva lot you can do with that. But maybe it sounds a bit too 4rth grade basketball.

Sure, that'd be neat!

DY, for me its the fact that he never did it like this before now. Here is one of the most skilled hockey players in the world, seemingly at the top of his game, the pinnacle of his career, yet he still finds a part of his game that he sees how to improve on and he does it. A 180 degree, night and day turn around. 100% improvement. Ya gotta give 'em props for that. I worry that he gets knocked around too much, and all of the sudden here he is leveling a few guys every now and then. I really noticed last year in the playoffs, and I too saw the interview where he credited Dally Drake, and I think its awesome. And its an unexpected benefit of bringing Drake aboard last year. Sure they knew he would provide leadership/grit/desparation, but I highly doubt Holland told Devellano that he thought maybe Drake would teach Datsyuk how to hit. I can see Babcock now, "You know Devs, uh, our main problem is that Dats down't hit enough, ---how bouts we sign old free agent Dally Drake to come in and teach him how! That'll bring the Cup home for us." Yes, the Wings could hit more for my personal style of hockey. Every little bit helps and its fun to see Dats giving and not just recieving.

If you can't find any tissues, there is old toilet paper in the can that should have a clean side you can use. You must be wearing a perfect little blouse and I'd hate to see it get all snot stained.

[] Can't help but laugh after watching Datsyuk knock down Zdeno f***en Chara! Threads like this are why I love this webiste! What a treat! Thanks a ton, bro.

The reason the Wings have lost in the first round a few times is that mentality right there. They coast into the playoffs on crusie control and try to turn it on in game one. Its really tuff to just turn it on. It takes a while to ramp up if you are not already there. Meanwhile, we play the 8th seed whose been ramped up like wildcats because they have been playing for their lives trying to make the palyoffs the last 8 weeks of the season. They are already at playoff speed and we have to get warmed up and before you know, they've beaten us 4 games before we could get our s*** together.

Wow. Wow, Dude. Wow. Sweet, Dude. Thats frikin awesome. wow. Thanks for the pics, I really enjoyed seeing them.

Huh, I hadn't noticed! Now that you mention it, good point: bring back Downey!
-
Exactly. And it was fun watching them come from behind and win for a change, instead of watching the other team come from behind and almost win. Boy gets lead, boy loses lead, boy gets lead back.

If anybody ever had a right to dance a goofy ass dance after every 2nd play, it was Barry "The Best" Sanders. He earned the right after fakin guys outta thier jocks and making them look silly grasping and clutching at thin air. But nope, he just took his 6 pts for the Lions and handed the ball back to the referee, like a man who has been there before and will be there again. Hossa has the determination of a man on a serious mission, who will let no man stand between he and his goal. To me, that is where his swagger comes from. He doesn't talk the talk like the NBA or even the NFL, he just goes out and plays like a man on a mission. You're totally right. Edit: The day that NHLers start to ham it up and woof it for the cameras is the day of descent for the greatest league in pro sports. My days as a fan will be numbered after that. Hopefully, it won't come during my lifetime. May tradition and honor reign supreme in the National Hockey League for many years to come.

Just curious, as a soccer goalie, during a given game, how long would you go between saves? When I grew up in Michigan boys played football and girls played soccer, so I don't really know. It seems that the goalie stands around doing nothing a lot while the girls kick the ball back and forth. Soccer kind of seems like "City" work, where only one or two people are actually working and the rest are all standing around watching them. Not like hockey where all five skaters are flying @ 20 miles an hour and even the goalie can't blink.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I can't hardly stand to watch football anymore. OR basketball. True excitement and emotion when its due is a great thing to be a part of, but dancing after every 2nd play is ridiculous. Way to go, Marion Hossa! And did you see the close up of Pavs and Hossa on the bench trying to be discrete about grinning and chuckling after Datsyuk mowed over Sharp or whoever that was? That was priceless.

I don't care what anyone says, a strained groin or even just a nagging groin is enough to slow you down. You lose your burst of speed with a groin issue because you feal like its going to pop if you hammer hard on it during acceleration, especially with your first step and any hard quick change of direction. To a degree, you will be less effective with any level of noticeable groin issue.
