Mcgrattan heard the call of the wild, unfortunately for the wild he responded.

Damn it! Think of all the fun, we'll be missing out on.

Pittsburgh is definitely the capital of something, just not hockey.

(Ominous tone) Winter is coming... Is that better? -

They lost to Boston yes, but they didn't get embarrassed. Other then a few empty net goals and 1 really bad game the series was close. Tampa is good, they should continue to progress. It's also possible some players had career years, and will take a step back, and as always injuries happen. My point being is that a lot factors into a franchises continued success. Wings at the moment are upper middle of the pack with room to grow, it's not all so bleak. Other then that, if Mantha and Larkin are ready they should play if not let them continue to develop. -

I agree on Larkin, completely disagree on the other point. I just wish everyone would stop referencing the first round exits. It's not as if the team got manhandled and embarrassed. The past 2 years we went to a game 7 and should have won both series. Yes, the team has obvious weaknesses, but they're not as far away as some believe. -

The Larkin situation reminds me of the Mantha talk from last season. Id be shocked if Larkin plays with the big club next year. I voted for less then 5 only because an injury might give him a shot. Other then DD who was the last prospect Holland rushed? Wings just don't do it. -
Tarasenko re-signs with the Blues (60 mill/8 years)
wings87 replied to frankgrimes's topic in General
You're right it's a crazy pointless system. Since after 2 lockouts, the cap is now over 70 mil. In several years we are ones again going to look for something to watch in the winter, while the owners jerk each other off. -

I'm not just talking about the extra year, but about the entire cap on contracts. If a team wants to do something stupid like give a 30 year old an 11 year deal, and as long as every year counts for the same cap hit, then it shouldn't be disallowed. Anyway, just my 2 cents. -

Thanks for the update. On a separate note: Not to start a referendum on the validity of the contract limitations. However the more I think about it the less I like the idea of the league controlling contract length. Now I get the reasoning behind it, but the league already has a rule about circumventing the cap along with a salary cap. Is it really the commissioners job to protect teams from stupid longterm deals? -

Well that explains it then, I guess I missed the rule change. -

Great deal. Hopefully this is a signal that the 10-15 year deals are done with. -
Here's hoping the numbers hold up in the NHL. But even 25% could mean the difference between a playoff spot or being left out of the party.
-
I don't think it'll make as much of a differance as people hope.
-
He's a good player. Plus he's money in the shootout, and in today's NHL that's crazy valuable.
-
Yeah it's 3 mil but it's only a 1 year deal. Let's not make it seem like Holland has lost his mind.
-
Will he be there on closing night is the question?
-
We could, we won't of course, but we could.
-
I don't know how I feel about another 35 year old center.
-
That last statement is the reason we need another d man. We lack on d, especially moving the puck. Green will be a tremendous upgrade, but like I said, not enough.
-
Depends on contract. At a reasonable rate why not.
-
Kronwall and DD. Is Greene and E good enough for you?I like the signing, it's just not enough.
-
If there was that possibility he wouldn't have signed. This was most likely his best offer, minus a year maybe.
