  1. I could get used to this.

Trade deadline fast approaching - who should we target?

    I want Stafford.
  4. Very nice, we don't even look like the same team. I guess the Olympic break did wonders for the Wings.
  5. I didn't realize that Karlsson has 55 points. Big year by him.
  6. With the way Pav looked last night I would rather have him take this game off and rest for 5 days before the next game. We need this guy to be himself down the stretch.

Trade deadline fast approaching - who should we target?

I agree, but it's a double edged sword. We won't become the class of the league again unless we get better. And it will be tough to get free agents to take less to play here until we get better. Not really sure what to make of Weiss though, I liked the move when he signed. But he seems to be a completely different player then what I thought he was. I hope it was the injury that slowed him down but I guess we'll find out soon enough.

So next gen consoles? Who is making the jump

I switched to the ps4, love the gameplay but my biggest issue is that there is no media remote like on the ps3. Which makes watching movies uncomfortable and until Sony releases a remote the ps4 will feel incomplete.

I think that where a lot of the anger comes in is when the team has had cap space and what Holland decided to do with it. Instead of spending the cap space on top guys we get deals such as Ian White and Sammy which seems like a waste of cap space. But yeah I agree with you I see no end in sight for Hollands low-risk management style.

Trade deadline fast approaching - who should we target?

I agree being a GM is a tough tough job especially with an entire fan base constantly screaming and scrutinizing your every move, not that he cares. But ever since the 09 season Holland seems to be in a holding pattern, he's been waiting for things to happen instead of making them happen. When the team has been good enough to contended he says that we already have the players we need to win, and when we are struggling he says that being a bubble team it's hard to upgrade. He seems to have an excuse for not making a move every year. When Rafalski retired and he had cash he didn't get a replacement. And when Holmstrom and Lidstrom retired he failed to replace their production. And yet the Wings keep insisting on playing a puck possession game when they don't have the players to do it anymore. I'll commend him on getting guys to buy into the Wings system, but I'm sure the passionate fan base and great ownership has a lot to do with players wanting to stay with the Wings.

First of all who cares if I forgot to mention his last name, you had no problem understanding who I was quoting. And second, I never said it was a great trade; but as a trade philosophy a GM you can't be scared in giving up young players just because they might become better somewhere else. Doing what's best for the team is most important, whether it's trading prospects or keeping them, as a GM you have to look at your team and decide what's best. And the Myers trade notwithstanding Dayton Moore is one of the brightest executives in the game. He grew up under Bobby Cox and John Schuerholz, and I'm sure they taught him a thing or two.

Trade deadline fast approaching - who should we target?

I read an interesting quote from Royals GM Dayton about the Will Myers trade: "If you focus on what youre losing, youll never make a deal. Youll be paralyzed. You have to focus on what youre getting in return and thats what we focused on." I know it's not about Hockey, but I think it fits with the theme and philosophy of the trade deadline or trades in general.
  13. I saw Gustavsson is getting the start, and with the Olympic break I forgot he's even on the team. Yeah, I know it's weird.

Trade deadline fast approaching - who should we target?

I guess the reasoning behind it is that only half the league makes the playoffs and it wouldn't be fair for the other half to continue to pay players. So that's where the no cap rule comes in, I think.

Unless I'm mistaken there is no cap in the playoffs.

Love Kesler, unfortunately I don't believe he will be traded.

Canadians score with 28 left and we Score with 28 left. Ahh good times.

Montreal didn't deserve a goal with the way they played, but the Wings porous defense decided to help them out anyway.

Weiss is a complete enigma, I have no idea what to expect from him.

Wings are playing with fire by not getting more shots on net, they seem to have gone completely into a defensive mode in the second.

Yep, but we gotta talk about something.

Trade deadline fast approaching - who should we target?

So you want to give up on the season just so the Wings can have better players to trade again in a couple months? Just because Ott is getting interest doesn't mean he's got value. Teams might want to get Ott on the cheap but won't be willing to trade anything of value for him. I think we have enough unproven talent to develop without adding more. Even if we have players that would draw interest, the Wings don't have a player worth trading that would fetch anything of real value. The problem is that the current Wings team is either made up of unproven youngsters or third and fourth liners. We shouldn't be trading Pav, Z, Franzen, or Howard. That doesn't leave much to sell.

I'm sure they'll try to trade him, but a trade of Richards for Marty is not a good return for Tampa.

Man, after watching Olympic hockey this rink looks tiny.
