The one thing I'll agree with you on is that the wings have gotten beat up ones, but they have been outmuscled plenty. You don't lose 7 straight games while being the better team. I'm not asking you to agree with me everyone has their own opinion and I respect that wholeheartedly. But this reminds me of the time you got on me for saying that Weiss has been bad, why don't you read some of your posts since then.

I never posted saying we where gonna get the crap beat out of us, you also didn't post anything in that thread but you seem to have all the answers.2000+ posts? Maybe you should read more carefully it says 217 replies. When the Wings left the division was tougher, then the division we are in now. Not counting last year because the schedule was truncated, for several years the only bad team was Columbus. Let's be realistic TBL, TOR, MTL, OTT are not world beaters. We should have no problem making the playoffs but I want to win the Cup not get to the second round.

We are just splitting hairs here, the wings In general are a decent team with a few players that are not playing well. But the question is what do they need to be a Stanley Cup winning team? And like it or not being tough to play against is part of it. Not sure what other people thought when the team moved out east, because I don't presume to know what's on other peoples minds, but the only tough team in the Wings division is Boston. The Wings actually came from a tougher division out west.

Do you also recognize when someone is on a power trip? If three Tesla's burn down it's ok to ask if they are safe or not. And if NFL players are arrested all the time it's not hard to say that there are behavioral issues in the NFL that's why the penalties in Football are getting more stringent. Returning to hockey, if you play soft on the boards and in the corners it easier for the opposing players to make plays, and that has contributed to plenty of loses for this team.

Agree with most of it, but a b+ for Andersson is a little high and I feel like you went too low on kindle and too high on Lashoff. But it's mostly nitpicking, other than that good job.

Since when does physical play equal more fighting? The wings have always been able to stand up for themselves and in the modern NHL that rarely involved fighting. And the reason you didn't see some of the threads you mentioned was because most of that is said in the game threads. And boy do I just love it when somebody comes along and decides to tell me how I feel or the reasoning behind my actions. Your the guy that took that semester of psych in college and became an expert aren't you?

What Bert did was illegal and if it was on the street instead of a hockey rink he would be in jail. And I would never advocate anything of that nature. As far as fights go more of them take place after clean hits, like you said, which just bugs the hell out of me. Fights are there to help players police the game not make a farce out of the game after a clean hit. Most fights nowadays are staged, and by that I mean agreed upon before the puck drops which takes emotion out of it and turns it into a waste of time. In my opinion staged fights should be taken out of the game completely. But real fights or hard nosed plays do make a difference. If you take the the Ottawa game the Wings partly didn't retaliate because they where afraid of Neil, and that fear probably kept a player like Abdelkader from being physical.

Completely agree with you,but part of the problem is that this team seems to lacks the ability to play a physical game. Also I'm wholeheartedly against getting out of position to make a big hit, but during the course if any game there are opportunities to show a little emotion and I don't mean after the whistle has blown.

A lot of posters seem to think me using this game or the Datsyuk injury as an example means that I'm only talking about these specific instances. Let me make it clear I'm not. This was not the first time the team has failed to respond emotionally and it won't be the last. The post has more to do with the culture surrounding this team. I love my Wings love a lot of the players but would love to see more unity. And standing up for each other is a part of it.

I don't disagree with you, but this year has been the first where I have felt that the Wings don't have the tough style of play in their back pocket and could go to it when they want. The last 5 games or so Kronwall has been trying to lay a big hit on someone but the league has wised up to it and he hasn't been able to time it properly.
-
Z deserves it. I've also heard that Datsyuk might captain the Russian team.

I loved the way the team played in 08 and 09 we had skilled players, we rarely fought and I was ok with that, because in big games or the playoffs we would play a tough style of hockey. Teams would come in thinking they would run us into the ground but we would give as good as we got. Now we still have skilled players but aren't as tough to play against. Not after any one player, in general just it would be nice to have the intensity level ratcheted up for some games.
-
I agree play wasn't dirty but as has been said since kindergarten you are responsible for your own arms, you can't just waive them around carelessly. This game was used as an example, plenty of games to choose from, this one was just the most recent. I had no desire for anyone to go after a certain player but I just wanted a little more intensity.
-
My understanding of constantly is spot on just because Datsyuk is quick enough to avoid a big check doesn't mean teams don't throw them. As far as another instance how about Kronwall getting run into the boards a couple years ago. Gooning is bad for the sport being tough is not.
-
Where in my entire post did you see me advocating hurting or injuring players on the other team?Making a hit is part of hockey, crashing the net is part of hockey as is standing up for your best players.

After the second goal it looked like they completely fell asleep. -

It's comical the only guy that went after Cowen was Samuelsson. And even that was more of a push than a hit. -

Let's hope that you won't have to drink yourself to sleep after this game. -

No it wouldn't hurt,I just don't like clogging up the roster with one dimensional players. We have too many of them as is. -

To be fair McCarty wasn't just a tough guy he could also score a little. Those are the type of players we need not just straight put goons with no other skills. Wings don't have to fight to win, but they have to be tough to play against. Ever since the cup runs in 08 and 09 this team keeps getting softer and softer. -

I'm with you and you won't see me crying if Cowan gets Kronwalled and misses this game. I just don't want any long term or serious injury. But more realistically the Wings will either have a "fight" or won't do anything. As much as we want them to be tougher they just haven't been that sort of team since the 90's. -

As much as I want to win and as pissed as I am, I still could never wish for another player to get injured. -
