I'm going to make this short. Scotty has a brilliant hockey mind, however no one single person is solely responsible for turning a franchise into a dynasty. Too meany people are involved, from the scouting department to the owner, for 1 person to be awarded credit. Which is one of the reasons why Toronto flushed money down the drain for Babs,but that's not important at the moment. Over the years there are only a handful of people that can confidently say "I'm most responsible for the success of a franchise." One being George Steinbrenner and the other Mike Illitch these two guys turned their franchises dominant.

What's interesting is that for all the Wings drafting proficiency, they haven't mastered how to draft size properly. You've got big guys such as E, Franzen, now Mantha that play small. And then you've got Helm and Glendening who play like 7 foot monsters. It's an enigma.

Most players usually are, for the right price.

I think one of the reasons Holland's recent trade history has sucked is because he keeps making trades for marginal/aging players. Instead of paying a higher price and trying to upgrade the roster with impact players.

Are you talking about Mantha? Who's advocating getting rid of him? I said Weiss in a Phaneuf deal not Mantha. I said Mantha in a JVR deal.

You're right Phaneuf isn't great, however he's the only way we're getting rid of Weiss.

My point being that Mantha should only be included in a trade for a top notch player. As for the trade it would potentially have to look something like this: Mantha,1st,Smith, Weiss (to offset Phaneufs contract, otherwise a through in) 3rd(next year) for Phaneuf, JVR, and a 5th.

I'd include Mantha in the Phaneuf trade if Tor includes JVR or in a similar type trade with another team. Otherwise trading a player that just 6 months ago seemed to be untouchable seems like an overreaction to 1 subpar year.

I think you're wrong. What he meant IMHO is that compared to a more popular sport as in Football, hockey players are model citizens. Fact is race is and most likely will always be a factor in our world, but not everything is about race.P.s. plenty black, Asian, and Latino people live in the burbs.
