I am just as pissed as the next guy that the Wings didn't take advantage of the teams they had and won more, but all the blame can't be placed on Babcocks doorstep. 05 I blame on Legace, who had a terrible time in the playoffs. 09 should have been a win, but I have a hard time blaming the loss on Babcock. The officiating was just crap, and if we are going to blame anyone for the loss, how about laying some blame on Stuart and his giveaways. The parity in the NHL since the lockout has also been a huge part of why many teams are failing to repeat. Not to say that Babcock is completely blameless, I just believe that by and large the majority of coaches are interchangeable, since most of what happens depends on the players. And I'm sure that after some growing pains, Blashill would do a fine job, I just don't see a reason to make a change.

How many more cups would you like? Since Babcocks tenure began only 2 teams have won more than 1 cup. And lately the talent just hasn't been there to win. I'd like to know why you think Babs can't manage the current team? No sarcasm involved I'd genuinely like to know?

Blashill is a great coaching prospect, but just like any prospect there is no guarantee he will be successful. Are all of you guys calling for Babcock to leave willing to suffer through the ups and downs of a rookie coach? This is not a top team that's under achieving, in fact up until a couple weeks ago this team was actually over reaching its true potential. The current Wings team is made up of a couple aging stars, a few inconsistent rising stars, and no top paring D-Men. Pav is still a top player, but as much as I like him Z is no longer the same he once was, and neither is Kronwall. Gus is in a major sophomore slump and Jimmy is Jimmy. Getting rid of Babcock will not change the make-up of this team, In fact I think he's done a marvelous job with the team he's got. What has caused the slump of late is not the coaching staff not being prepared (even though Babs is prone to blaming the coaches when the team loses), Its the fact that the players don't come to play every night. If the players don't want to play, I don't care if the coach is Blashill or Bowen the team will not win. The recent team meeting was called not because the coaches have sucked, but because the players have. I know its become the norm in today's sports culture to get rid of the coach when the team struggles, and sometimes a change is warranted, but not in this case. For me the best case scenario, would be Babs staying, Holland finally making a drastic upgrade to the team, and the young guys learn to play with consistency.

I honestly don't know how on this forum Babcock went from one of the best coaches in the league to one of the most hated members of the Wings franchise. Maybe because Blashill has surfaced? I don't know. Just because someone has success in college and the minors, doesn't automatically make them a slam dunk NHL coach. I also don't get what some fans want from the guy? I mean, he took the Wings to the Stanley cup, winning ones, and if not for some creative officiating and a missed Cleary breakaway, probably would have won back to back titles. This is also the same guy that has taken a sub par/young and injury prone team to the playoffs the past several years. Not many coaches could have done that. Do I love everything about him? No, not by a long shot, but I wouldn't want to see him go anywhere else.

And by our. You mean which team?

-
Might as well Z has been horrible.
-
Shame on us for believing this team had the heart too win this game.
-
I'm not a fan of Andersson either, but he's not the reason we are losing. It's because Gus and Z score once in a blue moon.
-
Yeah, and even though it's his 2nd full season. He's been in the league plenty to not have a sophomore slump. Sigh.
-
This might not be a popular opinion but Nyquist could use a couple games in the press box.
-
That goal was just handed to Tampa.
-
When was our last shot? They should have fresher legs then this, after standing around all game yesterday.

The whopper is true to its name. The big Mac should be called the p***y burger.
-
Not surprising since the big Mac is the most falsely advertised product in fast food history. The only thing big about it is the hype.
-
What the hell?!
-
Not having a guy like Holmstrom in front of the net hurts our Ds chances to score. That being said DK doesn't have much of a shot.
-
Wings have a knack for turning good scoring opportunities into anti climactic shots.
-
It'd be nice if we would stop taking stupid penalties.
-
I don't think he was ever going to turn into an offensive force. What's surprising is his D has suffered of late.
-
Nice kill, gotta score now. Great job by Smith stopping a couple breakout passes.
-
He hasn't been as bad since Holmstrom retired.

Jurco has two left feet.

Thank you sir.
