I don't know what they should call it but they should have a giant Swedish flag in front of it.

Trade deadline fast approaching - who should we target?
wings87 replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
When a trade for a player is made you usually know what the market is like, rarely do players sign for less somewhere were they really want to go. Money talks, if Holland trades for a top player nothing is stopping him from signing that player at market value. There are no guarantees, what if he trades for a player with 3 years left on his contract and he gets hurt and barely players; that will also turn into a rental. I'm not advocating for a trade for Vanek and giving him 7 mil per year on an 8 year contract(I'm just making up numbers as a hypothetical), but there are plenty of solid players on the block that if traded could be fit under the cap, especially with it going up next year. It might not have even been Shero the anonymous source may have been the intern who gets him coffee. -

Holland quote: “If there’s a hockey trade we’ll look at it, but we’re not looking at top-end rentals for those two reasons: because of our place in the standings and because of the unknown about some of our top players,” Holland said. Holland keeps calling players on expiring contracts rentals, if he resigns them after the season they stop being rentals. -

I wonder if the Vancouver brass is pissed at Kesler for continuing to play with a hurt hand in the Olympics. Plus it seems that Kesler isn't getting along with Torts and add in the fact that Kesler kept playing in the Olympics, I feel like it all just boiled over and that led to him requesting a trade. I'm sure the Olympics are not the main reason but I can't help but wonder whether it was the final nail. Now I get this is all conjecture but "it makes me wonder, ooh really makes me wonder." -

GM's have gotten so greedy lately that most trades have become one-sided. I miss trades where both teams come out happy and not with one GM feeling like he stepped on a flaming bag of s***. Too bad the Hockey trade that Holland is looking for has gone the way of the dinosaurs. -
If by bag of s*** you mean a depth defenseman, then I agree with you.

Kenny has been looking for a top D-man ever since Rafalski retired, and every time one shows up he doesn't like the price; be it prospects or dollars. He is like a deer in the headlights, when it comes to pulling the trigger. I don't want to sound like chicken little but with the overall ineffectiveness of the team defense and the fragility of the forwards, Holland can't wait any longer to make a trade. With Pav playing on one leg, Z and Weiss out for possible the rest of the year. The Wings badly need a scoring forward (center/wing doesn't matter as long as he can score) and a top 4 D. Edler/ Ehrhoff and Kesler/Moulson/Vanek/ any other available forward. This team needs a face lift bad, no more waiting; time to act. -
I wouldn't have expected him to drop the gloves even before the concussions. Franzen is not a fighter and I have no problem with that. All I want is for him to score goals.

Quincey doesn't have much value to the Wings fans but I'm sure he has value on the trade market. Not sure what he would fetch though, nothing significant, maybe a third rounder and a low prospect? I don't know. -

How about Milan Michalek. I know he hasn't been good this year, but he is due to become a free agent and might not cost a lot to get. He won't be the ideal addition but he would help. -
Boooo, stop raining on our parade.

Yes! We will make a hockey trade a real hockey trade. Holland will acquire someone's useless 6th defenseman for our 7th round pick.

That and a scoring winger. This. If Vanek or Moulson are resigned they are not rentals. -

I really don't, your business is you're own. My point was I prefer not to presume what's going on in other peoples life's. If I offended you, I'm sorry I didn't mean to. -

People make mistakes all the time thinking someone else's life is better then their own, you might not like being in his life even with all his millions. He is still in his prime and wants to play, nothing wrong with that. The Wings treat their minor leaguers better then Lou gets treated, not surprised Kesler wants out of there. -
In a scrum I don't mind the slashing and cross-checking, but with no one around he just slashed Methot and run away. It just looked like he was scared and looking for the refs to protect him.

Exactly, they traded Schneider and dangled playing time in front of Luongo; now they are screwing with him again. If he were a dog PETA would be all over the Canucks for abuse. I wouldn't blame him if he just held out playing and demanded a trade. He was one of the best goalies in the world and he could be again on another team. -

This is not a Red Wing thing, but how long are the Canucks go to keep torturing Luongo? They should just trade him and get it over with, in fact they should have traded him last year and kept Schneider. -

I would include Abby instead if Helm, even though Babs loves him and I doubt Holland would ever entertain trading him. Neither of those would get it done. Colorado would want Dekeyser who I have no interest in letting go. In other news seems like Brodeur will get dealt, we don't need him, but I'm interested to see where he ends up. It's a shame he wasn't able to spend his entire career in NJ. -
They should name it. The house that Cleary Built.

Pat LaFontaine Resigns as Pres of Hockey Op. for Buffalo

I'm guessing it's so they can get a new GM in before the trade deadline. -
I said earlier in the thread that Neal should be suspended. I didn't say I have a problem with the Wings being tough. What I didn't like was when earlier in the third period Franzen slashed Methot( I think that's who it was) from behind and then hightailed it out of there towards the bench. Franzen doesn't have to fight anyone, but don't run away like that it just looks bad.
