I find very little of the Onion's stuff funny. They're clearly written by people who don't watch hockey and thus, don't know what they're talking about so they're usually out of context and stupid with no punch at all. Lost a faceoff in 2003?? He was playing his first season for Rimouski then. Is also Alex Ovechkin?? What does that even mean? New Reebok skates aren't selling well?? Umm.. okay? And obviously the last one is pathetic. Did anyone see that thing the Onion did on Ovechkin playing football to make 'real money'? He's making $9m next season. There'd be only a handful of NFL players who could top that with all their bonuses and s***.

Dispelling some myths: the Pittsburgh Penguins

Pittsburgh has an excellent coach. I'm not saying you said he wasn't but wanted to put it out there. He's made the stars of his team come together very, very well. Tonnes of respect for Therrien. -

They were the lines for only one game. We did alright but I don't like them. Samuelsson better not be out there against Malkin and Malone. He'll be exploited to the s***house and give them free breakways and they're the last players you wanna give breakaways to. You'll be more likely to see: Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Holmstrom Samuelsson, Cleary, Filppula Maltby, Draper, Drake McCarty, Hudler, Helm ...If there's no Franzen. -

That's what I was wondering. Eva, you don't even have the correct lines for Detroit. You seem to know Pittsburgh better. -

Ottawa was by far the worst team to qualify for the playoffs. They were an absolute disgrace against Pittsburgh in the quarters. If you're not able to identify that you must be pretty new to the game. New York played horrible against Pittsburgh but were better than Colorado as I said, mainly because CO had so many injuries. I used to respect the Rangers a lot until I saw them play in the semis. Pretty bad stuff. Not to discredit Pittsburgh's run because I love the Pens and they've played well, but Ottawa did pretty much the same thing last year rolling through better teams to a 12-3 record before being owned by a clearly better Western conference team. I don't see this year much differently to be totally frank. But maybe I'm wrong. I do hope the Pens win a Cup in the next few years though. Mario is one of my all-time favs and I'm also a big fan of Sid. -

What do you need stats for? PHI, NYR and OTT totally suck. NAS, COL and DAL are good. COL was decimated by injuries though so they were crap against us. -
Yeah, I along with many others agree.

DET/PIT: 4-1

I think Zetterberg pretty clearly. Franzen is the only one that might knock him off he comes back and performs the way he was.

It's dumb to call someone dumb for calling someone dumb for making a pick. Sorry, had to.

So you haven't seen the handshake then because that is exactly what he did. He even put on a fake smile.

I've not at any stage thought that our secondary scoring was a problem. IMO we have the best 3rd line in the league and the best 4th line in the league. This, of course is arguable, but they are certainly up there. However, I consistently continue to hear that secondary scoring is a problem. Can someone please explain why? Zetterberg, Datsyuk and Holmstrom have scored 23 of our 55 goals (41%). Malkin, Sykora and Malone have 19 of their 51 (37%). Is that supposed to be a big difference? No-one would ever call Pittsburgh a 'one-line team' - it's not true. However, it's not true for Detroit either. IMO, our depth is the main reason we're the conference champs. So again I'll ask, what's with the concern about our secondary scoring? Make me understand.

Aaaaahahahaha!!! That's great. I just imagine some bug dumb guy with cross-eyes, a lisp and crumbs on his face saying it and laugh. Someone perhaps, like Milo Kerrigan: name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>&"> name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350" />

Dispelling some myths: the Pittsburgh Penguins

What? You say this and then tear the Penguins apart. If all you said was true about the Pens, we would sweep. The Pens are not one of the two best teams in the league. Pittsburgh is a spitting image of Ottawa last year. Wings IN FIVE. -
WTF???

Break some ice? Of course he wanted no part of it. The guy just lost the WCF - he was devastated. Nothing could get a genuine smile out of me if I were in is shoes. I'd just want to get in the showers and go home away from any Red Wings. He's still a Wolverine and an awesome goalie and still has plenty of class IMO. No reasons to not like him if you previously did, but that's me. And plus - we beat his ass!! On to the FINALS!!
-
What do you call two current Selke finalists, a Selke winner, Lidstrom, Rafalski, Kronwall and Stuart? An answer.
-
Yes. Furthermore, there's no way that Marty Turco would have insulted him during the handshake. I don't think I was the only sportsman that was an absolute prick to my opponents during a game. I harassed, I annoyed, I antagonised, I swore and in return I heard some of the worst things back too. But at the end of the game I smiled and shook their hands because it was all just part of the battle. A few times a guy didn't shake my hand back but that just shows lack of character. The hate for Turco is not necessary. He doesn't think Osgood is gutless and he didn't do anything too despicable during the series like Pronger or something. He's a competitor and that's it. Not hard to see why he knocked off Anaheim and San Jose.
-
Yeah it's pretty well publicised.
-
Okay but they're not that close. I've never heard anyone argue that Datsyuk or Zetterberg is the world's best. Ovechkin, Lidstrom and Crosby have. They're the ones that are close. That's my opinion anyway. You can disagree with it but it would make you wrong. Just kidding. ... not really.
-
Who's hot and who's in a slump? Does this mean Franzen is top 10? What about Ozzie? Maybe Drake would crack the top 20 with his performance in game 6.
-
Agreed, this is very true. The fact that he thinks Detroit has the top three players in the world makes him biased. If he can find one person in the world to agree with him that is NOT a Wings fan - then it might be a valid opinion. I sincerely doubt that such a being exists.
-
I stopped reading when you said the world's top three players are in Detroit. Come on. Try to be a tiny bit unbiased. I just can't respect your list in any way because of that.

1. Crosby 2. Lidstrom 3. Ovechkin 4. Zetterberg 5. Datsyuk 6. Iginla 7. Malkin 8. Brodeur 9. Alfredsson 10. Thornton Anyone who puts anyone other than Ovechkin or Lidstrom ahead of Crosby is hopelessly biased. They're the only two I'll hear arguments for why they would be better. The OP has him at 6 - that's a joke. I'm totally over people's stupid ratings of Crosby. Hate him if you want - just don't let it blind you.
