It's strange how batting right in cricket feels correct, but shooting left in hockey also feels correct for me. I'm right-handed BTW.

Lol. Proof-reading is my friend.

I read this thread then had a shower and laughed about the absurdity of such a chant. I mean, it doesn't even make sense as an insult. Detroit really has very little to do with the actual selling of cars. It's like chanting "Get less AIDS" at the Botswanan soccer team. Sure, it may not have the syllabic resonance of the usual "Detroit sucks!" chant, but at least "Make better cars" would make slight sense as an insult, classless though it may be. It made me wonder about the stupidity of the average Hawks fan, if this chant actually received a majority vote for this radio station. In April I went to a Hawks/Wings game at the United Center and sat near an unpleasant overweight lady wearing Blackhawks pyjamas with bright red dyed hair. While not from Chicago, nor from the U.S., I was still kind of embarrassed to know I was of the same species as her... or we at least shared a common ancestor, I hoped it was the latter. Of course at every opportunity along with the rest of the Hawks fanbase she would chant "Detroit sucks!" which amused me. I think she was more showing off the fact she could pronounce a 6-letter word like "Detroit" instead of saying "moo". Detroit wasn't the only object of ire from her though. She also felt the need to berate Eddie Olczyk when he appeared on the monitor.... "YOU SUCK OLZIK!!". Furthermore, she got quite irate at the Lemonheads animation when she didn't win her race (those of you that have recently been to the United Center will know what I'm talking about). However, I thought someone like her would surely not be too common in Chitown. I mean, what a great city it is. Perhaps too great though if someone like that could procure Row 2 season tickets. When given thought, I can only assume that the State of Illinois has an excellent welfare system. Perhaps one that compounds when someone has an obvious mental disability as well as being over 400lbs. This would explain how such a voice of stupidity can resound throughout Chicago and come up with a chant so lame, nonsensical and classless. My thoughts go out to the intelligent citizens of Chicago. I know you exist, though you seem to fade further and further into obscurity.

I was just saying. Sorry. I guess I was wrong. I guess because the other thread was made because of insecurity that means it's more appropriate to discuss it here.
-
@Broken 16, Doc Holiday, etc. Lol. Come on guys. I don't wanna sound like a ****** but a thread was made for this specific topic and you're still discussing it here?
-
Doesn't matter if they suspend them or not. Detroit will destroy the Ducks in game 7. Niedermayer, Getzlaf and Perry can't change it.
-
Did Lids just say they're dressing 7 Dmen?

The "advantage" concept is used in hockey, it's called "delayed" offside (and penalty). I don't think I understand your post properly because as I understand, what you're describing does happen. I don't get it.

The AHL is a great developmental league. It gives young players the best possible preparation for NHL-level hockey. We don't have any prospects like Toews or Kane that are top draft-picks and can compete in their teens. Players like Ericsson, Helm and Abdelkader most likely wouldn't have been very good without the AHL preparation they got. I don't think it's possible for a player younger than 25 to "rot" in the AHL and I think Ken Holland would say the same.

Bored again huh? Cool post. Back on topic - it didn't seem to be tipped to me. Didn't seem to change direction until after it passed his stick, but it's not the greatest angle to judge from.
-
In both instances you're bringing other players into the picture and if someone else is in the offensive zone then is doesn't make a difference how the puck carrier enters it's still offside.
-
That's the thing. Who the f*** knows? The NHL is about as consistent as quantum mechanics. **Nerd joke, I know. Sorry.**
-
Oh my God seriously? How is this possible? I remember thinking it was a given he'd be suspended. Like, I didn't even consider the possibility he wouldn't. 1. Blatant sucker punch. 2. Third man in. 3. Final moments of a game beyond doubt. Didn't the league just weeks ago state they wanted to stamp this kind of "message sending" out? They making a mockery of themselves.
-
Cool. I believe it.
-
We need mindfly for this!! I've seen players get called offsides a million times for entering the zone before the puck they have possession of. Seems like a no to me, but I'm no rules expert.
-
I think you're talking about the Dropkick Murphy's song. I don't know what its called. Something about Boston.
-
First off, I never debated against Getzlaf. Niedermayer in the top 3 is a really bad joke and Hiller has been the fourth most influential GOALIE in the playoffs behind Varlamov, Ward and Luongo. Yet for some reason he's number 1 for all players. Okay?
-
That list is obscenely stupid to put Neidermayer and Hiller ahead of Lidstrom, Ward, Crosby and Ovechkin. It seems to just be riding in the high of Detroit's (then) two recent losses to Anaheim.
-
Is that a little-known rule or something? I hope he doesn't give away any 2-minute penalties for "being as good as he usually is".
-
We need more right shooters. This is what hurts us most about Ralf's injury IMO. Sammy is basically our last right shooter.
-
Oh right, I see. Yeah, I hope you're right. Certainly wouldn't hurt to have another Helm pan out. It's a tough team to try and crack when healthy though.
-
Nah I'm not. Maybe later in life I'll spend more time in America. In a few months I'm leaving the States... probably for Canada. I'm wingin' it a little which is not a great idea in this country because America is pretty tight on us aliens.
-
It's almost a 100% certainty he will go back down next season. Not because he's not good enough, but because Ken Holland has great faith in the AHL and the way young players develop there. Detroit has always let prospects develop until they are almost too ready for the NHL. This is a system Scotty Bowman developed and Holland has said is committed to continuing because it's the reason Hank and Dats are two of the best in the world and guys like Ericsson, Helm and Grigorenko were able to flourish immediately in the NHL. Hmmm... well, there's always exceptions.

So I've learnt two things from this thread: 1. It is possible for the majority of LGW to agree on something about Ovechkin. 2. Numba Sixty-Six is approaching his first anniversary of watching NHL next week. Congrats #66!! Oh... you're dumb by the way.

Shoulda been a major for sure. Gonchar could be out for a long time because of this less than clean hit.
