Our defensive problems are pretty simple... no in-depth analysis required. I'm shocked none of these have been mentioned. Clearing the zone. Turnovers in the neutral zone. Turnovers in our own zone. Communication b/w goalie and defensemen. Clean, decisive passing out of our zone. Aggression on the PK. When the Red Wings play without these issues, opponents don't score.

It makes no sense to take Hedman over a much better player in Tavares ESPECIALLY given our current depth at D. And I assure you, no GM in the league is taking Hedman if they get the #1 pick. Tavares is a 100% certainty to go first.
