Not your classiest post. Anyway, I like Joe Sakic. Hopefully, he can get healthy and retire on a positive not (but not with our Cup) lol. He deserves to retire on his own terms at the very least.

Yes last line change and last stick on the ice. Big deal. If your coach is Dave Lewis, then line-matching ain't so advantageous lol. The better team should win over seven games. I don't quite understand what you meant by the last line so forgive me if I've missed your point but if the Presidents Trophy was so important why does it rarely translate to playoff success? I've just watched too many road teams win in the playoffs to care about coming 1st or 2nd.

Keep in mind, I'm talking about the playoffs. Home ice is much more of a factor in the regular season due to travel schedules. That is not the case in the playoffs. I've no doubt the home team's win% is similar or even greater than that in the playoffs but I think that'd probably have more to do with the home team actually being the better team most of the time.

I'm not sure why you mentioned my country but in case you didn't know, in the playoffs both teams have the same travel schedule. Home-ice means next to nothing in the playoffs. Most recent champs have overcome it. Detroit and Carolina are the only ones I can think of that didn't have to.

To be honest, I didn't read any of the thread. Funny thing is, I was *this* close to putting in Rosie O'Donnell. Anyway, mine was WAAAAYYYY better.

You can disregard team performance in the preseason but not the performance of a player trying to crack the lineup. Quincey had played like a dozen games for Detroit over three seasons. If you think he was taking a stroll down the park, that's debatable but not the point. The point is he shouldn't have and you'd be kidding yourself Ericsson, Smith, Kindl and Meech were. When it comes to prospects you'd be stupid not to put stock into the preseason.
