Okay. These are all free agents BTW (Although we know Modano has retired). Mike Modano - 14 goals, 30 points @ $2.25m Chris Higgins - 8 goals, 17 points @ $2.25m Keith Tkuchuk - 13 goals, 32 points @ $2.15m Marek Svatos - 7 goals, 11 points @ $2.35m The only comparable players that had season's as good as Holmstrom were Selanne (27 goals, 48 points)and Guerin (21 goals, 45 points) both making $2m. Do you still think the same way about this signing??

For all intents and purposes it does debunk your point because what you're suggesting is unrealistic. I do have an idea of what Jokinen will get -- apparently moreso than you because you've displayed zero knowledge of the value of a hockey player. I could mention thing likes Jason Chimera made $1.875m last season with his 15 goals and 34 points. Is that the kind of scorer you're looking for? What about Eric Belanger's 15 goals and 41 points for $1.75m? Hey what about Radek Dvorak's 14 goals and 32 points for his $1.7m cap hit? Better option than Holmstrom? You can complain about bargain deals everywhere. Young players on entry-level or second contracts are not accurate comparisons though. Otherwise everyone would be complaining about the value of Tampa's 50 goals from Stamkos.
-
Exactly! We shouldn't be re-signing anyone and just sign Kovalchuk and have a 15-man roster. This is why Holland sucks!! 1. Jokinen is not a free agent. 2. His next contract will be worth well over $4m at the very least. Awful comparison.

I think the same thing happened with Berard, no? But again, after he was drafted.
-
Williams is a UFA. I suggest throwing in Cory Emmerton.
-
No it sounds like Bufflin.
-
Perfect.
-
I think if Kenny threw Chris Chelios' phone number it'd be a done deal.
-
I love LGW.
-
No. It wouldn't. I would imagine Datsyuk or Zetterberg would have to be mentioned for any consideration.
-
I dunno if it's been mentioned yet, but I'd really like to see Holland spend $2m on a player that can consistently win face-offs to play on the third line. The biggest difference between our 2010 playoff team and our 2008 playoff team was our aptitude in the face-off circle.
-
Lol. What a stupid question to ask after one season.
-
I was hoping Lidstrom would actually pay the team to play next season.
-
That notwithstanding, the original post of mine responded to by you, was nothing more than a disagreement about his value. Mindfly said he was worth $6m and I showed that the market disagrees with this view. So no, we all do not know what he's worth apparently. At the end of the day, the market is all that matters when valuing a player. So for me the question becomes, why are you arguing with me when you are in full agreeance with me?
-
That's right. A product is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I can't be sure if you've attempted to disagree with me.
-
That's kinda like saying that despite the fact that billions of people will buy Coke at $1 a can every week, it's still overpriced. A product is worth what someone is willing to pay. The market clearly shows that Nicklas Lidstrom is worth more than a cap hit of $6m despite the opinion of you and the other armchair GM's at LGW.
-
Lidstrom's clearly better than Pronger. Keith is a great deal - can't argue with that. Still there are actually even more examples of worse players getting over $6.5m - Bouwmeester, Campbell. The market says you're wrong, kiddo.
-
I'm gonna be frank. This is just a hideous display of idiocy. Lidstrom has already foregone an arguable $15m-$25m in hometown discounts for the Wings over the past decade and a half and you sit there and post this.
-
Defensemen with a cap hit of between $6.5m and $5.6m in 09/10: Dion Phaneuf - $6.5m Wade Redden - $6.5m Ed Jovanovski - $6.5m Kimmo Timonen - $6.3m Brian Rafalski - $6.0m Bryan McCabe - $5.75m Lubomir Visnovski - $5.6m Wrong again. kthxbai.

Smaller piss lines at the intermissions too.

Leighton winning it would be a slap in the face of guys like Richards and Pronger who've carried their team for the whole playoffs and not just half of it. Leighton's shutouts against Montreal were some of the easiest I've witnessed. The Flyers gave them no room in their zone and their neutral zone pressure was brilliant. The Habs could barely get a decent offensive zone entry on the PP. Besides, it's sad to say, but Chicago's probably gonna destroy Philly so no Flyer will even get considered.
-
What else would he do? That's the only logical response.
-
Does anyone who watched the Memorial Cup seriously think that Seguin will actually be picked up first? Honestly.
-
No. Option years, voidable years and salary revisions are the first prohibited item for any SPC under the current CBA.
