Wish I coulda watched this whole game but I saw the 3rd period and saw the highlights on TSN. Seemed like a pretty solid effort. I was also very proud of seeing the way they played. Although having said that, it didn't seem like the Sharks were particularly motivated for this game like previous times we've visited the Shark Tank.

Gold: USA v. Canada Bronze: Switzerland v. Sweden

I can't believe Markstrom allowed that.

Hence, Komisarek being picked over Hainsey. I hate Komisarek. I haven't seen an inanimate object get this much attention since the Berlin Wall. At least Ferguson wasn't in charge. No doubt he would've picked Jeff Finger.

The U.S.A. defense just fell asleep there. Ouch!
-
No, he almost did when a puck grazed his shorts in a game last year. But the league didn't recognise the goal and it was awarded to someone else. I know this sounds like a joke but it's true.

You could EASILY get a bill like that. I used to work for a liquor company and a "function" between 10-13 people we ran up a $3000 bill in 4 hours or so with just drinks and in Australia there are no tips. Granted, drinking in Oz is very expensive. Plus, liquor in Canada is more expensive than in the U.S.

I like him too but he hasn't been an NHLer for a while now. That's all. -

Wow. I hate your list. Doan and Staal are the only ones I don't mind. Mine would have to be: 1. Mike Richards 2. Toews 3. Getzlaf (I want to hate him but he's such a warrior, I can't) 4. Kessel 5. Ovechkin/Crosby (they're both just so fun to watch -- the two best in the league) -
Sigh.... I totally agree with the OP. I wish we beat em up, at least for a few shifts.

Could Some Westen Teams Who Make The Playoffs = Advantage Wings?

That's the other reason, as I mentioned, that they should NOT be pleased with playoff qualification. Two big reasons. -

I dunno how Nashville could be put in that group. They've made the playoffs more than most teams in recent times, losing in the first round each time. I mean, last year was the first time they didn't make the playoffs since '03. They certainly wouldn't be happy to just "be there". -
I'm sick of seeing this s***. I don't care if we won last night. We probably shouldn't have. The Ducks just hack, whack and run Jimmy Howard whenever the puck is in or around the crease and nothing happens. This team isn't losing because of injuries. It's losing because it has no fire. Heads are hanging low. The players are too timid to get in the face of an opponent that challenges them. You don't need to be a goon to stand up for your teammates. Not so long ago, a guy like Bertuzzi or Datsyuk would not just skate away after Corey Perry takes 3 or 4 whacks at his goalie while the puck is under his pads. You can't allow that to happen. Yet, it is allowed. Losing free agents and getting injuries hurts. I'm not ignoring that. But it's not an excuse to allow other teams to push you around. It should be the opposite. The players should be MORE pissed and MORE driven to make sure their opponents know you cannot take liberties with the Detroit Red Wings. This was the hockey that was played in the '08 and '09 playoffs. It was energetic and inspired. Each player was in the game. Right now, you could count them on one hand in any given game. The worst thing about that is, in the past few weeks none of them have been our better players. Injuries hurt. Indifference kills. Wake the f***, Red Wings and show some pride!!

That's what I'm talking about. That's what gets undermanned or undertalented teams over the top. They play with fire and passion. IMO, it's a show of character and pride and I wish I saw more of it.

No, it wasn't true at all last year. As I said, the Blues had a horrible start and finished 6th. I found a source to prove this. Not only were St. Louis not in the top 8, but they were dead last (4pts behind 14th) in the West when 8 teams had 38 points. This blows that claim out of the water. Standings at Dec 29, 2008. When 8 teams had reched 38 points in the Western conference. San Jose 60 Detroit 51 Chicago 47 Calgary 46 Vancouver 43 Anaheim 42 Colorado 39 Phoenix 39 Edmonton 37 Nashville 37 Minnesota 36 Columbus 36 Los Angeles 36 Dallas 35 St Louis 31 Western seeds for the 2008/09 playoffs: San Jose Detroit Vancouver Chicago Calgary St. Louis Columbus Anaheim So 6 of the first 8 teams to reached the playoffs. Hardly a shocking statistic. Source: http://www.shrpsports.com/nhl/stand.php?li...Dec&date=29

Just laughing at you for making stuff up.
-
Lol. Personal attack.
-
Well if that's what he means, then what he's saying is false. The Blues had like a 14-20-3 start last year. There's no way in hell they were one of the first 8 teams to get 38 points and they finished 6th in the West.
-
16 teams make the playoffs. So, if what you say does hold true, it doesn't mean the Wings won't make the playoffs.
-
Interesting. The closing sentence in your original post, of "Quit trying to make the team be somebody they aren't" seems to be telling me to not make threads like this because I'm trying to make them something they aren't. It seems you're oblivious to how hypocritical you're being. I, as well as others have found a way to ignore you and allow you to continue on with your incessant whining all over this board about any and all things as irritating as it is. Can you not allow me to have my opinion that the Wings should stand up for themselves? Can I not make a thread with my opinion without you complaining about making the thread of my opinion? I believe it's within the forum rules.

Right. So you can post about what you like, but others can't if you don't agree. Got it.

Lilja had an existing problem which went undiagnosed until the punch from Weber which caused it to become a real problem.
