Kenny has some work left to do

I have to agree. Howard, Kindl and Mursak are well ahead of Ericsson in our prospect pool. Arguably Smith, Larsson, Abdelkader and Ryno as well. An offer sheet will not be offered to Ericsson simply because he's not worth the draft picks that will be foregone.

Did you end up watching that series? I thought you weren't going to when Nashville tied up game 5?

    Waivers!?

Good explanation. However the highlighted part is slightly off. The required number of NHL games played depends on their age and whether or not they are a skater or goalie so it's much more complicated. You have the gist of it though. Edit: found some info. http://www.nhlscap.com/waivers.htm

Honestly, what the hell do you do with 5 pairs of shoes? Why would someone want five pairs of shoes??
  7. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=243275&amp...os=topStory_nhl Per TSN: It seems the reported 9 year, $77m contract was not quite accurate.

Australian rugby, football and soccer leagues all have salary caps too. As does the NBA but it's a soft-cap I think. And doesn't the CFL have a cap too? This is actually a pretty common thing in professional sports, Mindfly.

Good points. I also am not a big fan of contracts this massive. If I were a GM, I would never sign a player to more than 6 maybe 7 years absolute max. So much can happen in 11 years. What if Vinny gets a concussion in 5 years like Lindros and sucks for the rest of his career? That $7m+ cap hit is really gonna sting. While it's a good deal now, it could prove to be a little short-sighted for the Bolts. With regards to contracts not being fulfilled, as far as I'm aware, players that retire before the end of their contract do not receive any compensation for the future payments however contracts are guaranteed for player that sustain career ending injuries and recieve full pay for the remainding salary of the contract. However, I'm sure clubs will have insurance for events like this. I could be wrong though.

Alright, so it's legal. In this case, no decrease of $5m or more is permitted from year to year and the largest drop is 8.5 to 4. Thanks for the info, good source.

Jack, the CHL is considered a professional sporting league. Please see my point here. They'd probably get better crowds than AFL too.

Regardless of whether or not you think I am a hypocrite, the fact remains Arena Football should not count because: 1) Having a franchise is not a achievement. Grand Rapids has one and not Detroit. What does that tell you? 2) It is largely unpopular. 3) It is about as legitimate and respected as the XFL was. The fact that you're the only person who stood up for it after I ragged it so heavily pretty much sums it up. No-one cares about it. Do you even like it, Jack? I doubt the reason you're defending it so much is not because you like to sit and watch the Des Moines Douchenozzles every week.

Lol. No-one seems to understand it, and it's hard for me to explain but when I visited the place years ago I fell in love with it. People are always like, "Really? Detroit?" but yeah it reminds me of a quiet version Melbourne. The people in Detroit are great and love sports and so I became a Pistons fan, big Lions fan and ridicluous Wings fan because hockey is my favourite sport. It's probably a little irrational now even. I actually have Spartan and Wolverine merch just because they're Michigan colleges. I'll be up there again next year.

Compared it to Arena Football is an insult. In my view.

Brisbane has the Lions. As much as I hate Brisbane and love Detroit - Brisbane has won championships. Loving the Lions is tough, true? Lol.

Just don't bag footy because the difference is, you are clueless about our AFL and I'm not clueless about yours. Like I said, I tried to give it a go.

Hey Jack. The AFL (that is, Australian Football League) has the second highest average attendance of any professional sporting league in the world. It's also 120 years old. Arena Football is the pathetic bastardisation of a legitimate and great sport played by washed up CFL players. And I have watched it as I have tried to give it a chance but it's ridiculous. I didn't read any more of your post. Why would I when you compare Arena Football to soccer and Australian Football?

Nice pick up. The current CBA is in effect until 2011 so this should get rejected based on the "100% rule".

No, I believe the cap number is 6.875. I'll double check that. Edit: My mistake. That's the current cap number. TB is looking at 7.72 as you guys said after this season.
