  1. I'm with you on Kronwall. Alfie hasn't been particularly over-worked this year so I'd keep him in if he's healthy.

Datsyuk is a little different as I'm seeing it. We need him to be at max capacity come Boston (or PIT) and I'm thinking resting him is the opposite of what he needs.

He's been okay and contributed, but really hasn't looked like his usual self at all since his return. This is to be expected, so I'm not trying to sound alarms. A couple more games to get his rhythm back before the PO's is the best thing for him as I see it.

This assumes that it is in fact true that he can't exacerbate his knee troubles by playing, as is being claimed.

  2. Jackets just effed up bad. Same with Washington, losing to a team with only 8 forwards for a lot of the night.

Pretty much the perfect night if the Wings finish the Sabres.

If my calcs are correct, the Wings only need 3 more wins now (including vs. Sabres) to clinch playoffs. So two more wins, if the Wings beat Buffalo.

  3. Andersson might come back and get into the lineup, but once the rosters expand after the trade deadline he's toast. Sheahan and Glendening are both better, faster, and provide more. He's slow and wins faceoffs, Glendening is fast and wins faceoffs. Sheahan brings some physical game and scoring pop. Holland has really f***ed up the roster management this year, but so long as were in the hunt past the trade deadline the best line-up will be on the ice. Till then, well....

I dunno man. Andersson scores a lot more than Glendening and that's kind of important to Detroit right now.

I'm a massive fan of Glendening, don't get me wrong, but prior to his injury Andersson's line was probably the most consistent line we had for a while. They were able to sustain offensive pressure for extended periods as well as remain defensively reliable. As much as a I love Luke Glendening, I think our scoring troubles are going to dictate that Andersson has preference over him when the decision needs to be made. Same for Sheahan, love him too -- but Andersson is IMO higher on our depth chart right now.

  4. Agreed. everyone keeps calling him a playoff beast...he had a 5 goal game against the Avs the one year and was pretty average aside from that. Consistency is a beast that Mule needs to tame...

I'd personally like to see the Wings keep Nyquist up and have 3 scoring pairs and a grinder to get the puck on each fwd line.

Clearly your memory of spring 2008 is foggy at best.

  5. If you take a look at it, 4 out of 75 prospects is pretty solid really. Between 30 teams, 75 spots allows for 2.5 prospects per team on average, so the Wings are over-indexing. Considering Detroit's draft postitions over the last 5 years, that phenominal really.

Also, there was a lot of excitement over Pulkkinen some time ago, but seems to be none in this thread. Has he dropped off this season or what? Are people still hopeful with this guy or what?

  6. You could say that about most teams.

10 (11 counting this year) years without any type of success, losing tons of money, declining attendance... I don't see anything to suggest the team will have any success in the near future, nor would I be particularly confident that they'd become consistently profitable even if they did.

Nashville, Carolina, and Florida are other options. St. Louis too, but they at least have some history and a good looking young team.

St. Louis has history but the Isles should be gone??
