I can't believe I'm mising this game because of my high school graduation commencement!!!!! THIS IS INSANE! It won't be the same watching this game 6:00 in the morning when I get home from my all night party on the DVR. AHHHHHH why is fate so cruel? But for those of you who will watch the game live... I predict a 3-1 victory for us. Det - Zett, Datysuk, Cleary. Pens - Crosby

Can anyone post a link to the article if it is online please?

I know it's pretty bold, and perhaps ignorant remark to be making so soon after a loss like this, but something in me just tells me that our players along with Babs are not too happy about tonight. All 3 of Pitts goals come off bad turnovers or mistakes by us. Goal 1 - Broken stick by Rafalski (bad luck as he heads to the bench, Stuart comes out), Stuart makes a bad pass (or)Zett doesn't know the pass is coming, and the turnover comes, Crosby scores. Goal 2 - Lilja is checked into the boards, turnover, goal Pitts. Goal 3 - Osgood goes for a poke check and misses the puck, trys to get back into his net and his interfered with, unable to get good positioning, pucks takes a bad bounce off of him and into the net. Those things all combined with the poor play of Stuart and Lilja, a completely missed call on the high stick on Lidstrom which would have given us a 4 minute power play (he was bleeding). Holmstrom missing a wide open net. (Maybe Samuelson wouldn't have scored after but you never know) Very solid goal tending by Fleury, and a not so great effort by our team as a whole and we only lose 3-2. We will be pumped on Saturday and come out guns blazing imo.

Lol.. got a tad ahead of myself. If a mod could change that, it would be appreciated... However not to be a bigger jinx, but if we do win game 4, we will win game 5 I'm positive.

Correct me if I'm wrong. But wasn't Lilja checked by a Pens player, (Roberts I think) which caused the turnover which led to Crosby's 2nd goal? He played awful tonight. It's just so disheartening to watch him play great one game, and then completely the opposite the next. And to be honest, I'm not sure bringing in Cheli would do much good. The Pens players would be too fast for him to handle IMO.

I'm just curious as to if anyone on the boards here thinks that we will see one player step up their game significantly in the goal scoring category for this series. To me, I can see Cleary finally bringing back the scoring power that he had during the regular season and giving us a real boost to help us out. I would however, would like to see Nick get some more goals off of rockets on the power play. And also to be honest, it wouldn't surprise me if all of our guys just raised their level of play one giant step as a whole. This is the closest that many have ever been to winning the Stanley Cup, and I don't think anyone on the Red Wings wants to see this golden opportunity skip away.

I remember him saying that he wanted a job in broadcasting after he retired. He felt that New York gave him the best opportunity to do that. Well, are doing just fine without him.

I read about this today in the Free Press. I forgot to post it. I'm surprised they didn't publicize it more.

Wings - 3 (Zetts, Lindstrom, Helm (he deserves it)) Dallas - 1 (Morrow)

That seems so trashy for fans throw beers at someone cheering for the visiting team. However, I shouldn't speak because when I was at the Wings vs. LA Kings game when the Kings came back and ended up winning by scoring 4 or 5 goals in the 3rd, some fan behind me threw their beer at some King's fan who had this very annoying cow bell. Don't blame them, but still not a classy thing to do when your team falls apart (Avs).

Does anyone have the windows media player feed for today's game? I'll be at work missing it and I just tried that one feed for the hell of it last game and it was great.

I used to love listening to 97.1, but these days I really can't stand hearing anyone on there. To be honest I don't really feel that any of them know much about any sport other than football. Pat Caputo, Drew Sharp, and the guy with the very high voice whose name I don't know all really annoy me when they talk about hockey. It's so obvious that they are winging the entire thing and aren't too sure about what to say. A perfect example would be today when I listened in for maybe about 5 minutes and they were talking about Ozzie's "bad" goal, and right away after Caputo says that they are taking open lines and willing to talk about anything including Kwame (which for some reason the man has an obsession for it seems). Now I realize that the stations entire theme one could say is having open lines, but to ask people to call about Kwame when the Tigers are doing horrible, the Wings win a crucial game 5, and the Pistons begin the playoffs the next day, comes off as unaware to the sports world, when after all, it is a sports radio station.

The only other NHLer is Zdeno Chara. But I suppose number 11 through all of the sports they surveyed is a pretty high honor. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/extr...ghest.athletes/

Excellent post. I can understand why they have the rule, but in end, I would like to see the rule revoked.
-
Does anyone know where I can listen to the interview? I just was able to tune in at about 5:40 and missed it all. They just it was on the 97.1 website but I can't seem to find it anywhere.
-
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't his helmet just a regular player's helmet with the cage around it? Also I could've sworn that I heard Ken Daniels say during a broadcast that they ordered some all the way from Russia and also was asking fans to send any they might have.
-
I sent mine as well. Thanks a ton.

The way I see it, we were 'upset' by Edmonton, but so were two other teams. They were one win away from a Stanley Cup. In no way, shape, or form is it all Manny's fault. Would I want him backl? No.. But imo there will always be a place for former or current Wings with a positive attitude and great will.

Great find! It's really nice to see two goalies that most Red Wings fans love together at the all star game.
-
He has only shown improvement; So why move him? It seems like sometimes Wings fans have higher hopes for our prospects than those who are already have shown their talent and on a high level.
-
Lol, I thought I might have been the only one who thought he was a little crazy for that. Maybe one of the worst motivational speeches of all time.
-
Not to say that he didn't deserve it, because he did, but I can't recall even one post mentioning Brian Rafalski making the all star game. Now that he was snubbed, people just begin to realize?
-
Does anyone know why Ryan Miller had that snow hat over his goalie mask? I don't think it really did much for his ears.
-
Does anyone know why the highlights on NHL.com don't have any announcing? It was like that for half of the highlights for last night's game against the Blue's as well.

Anyone else think Gordie Howe is a little money hungry?
JoeBuddy replied to WingNutt's topic in General
Did that really happen or do you mean that they were close to having to do that, but didn't? That's a pretty horrible thing to have to go through. Being a professional hockey player probably takes up a lot of your time, but then having to work full or part time around that would make one's life so much more of a stress.
