If you honestly think the NHL has lost money marketing the WC, you are beyond clueless. -

You failed here. The WC rotates. The Thanksgiving games do not rotate. The WC games do. Which screws your "allure" argument up. -
Bettman confirms wanting two winter classics next year

Thanksgiving has long supported 2 football games, and now supports three. I say GO FOR IT. If people will watch and be interested, do it. The real issue is competing with college football on Jan1. -
He's second all-time in Blues shorthanded goals? He played on the PK?
-
No way. He may deserve it, but other flavors of the week will get the nomination.
-
There is only 1 team in the Western Conference with a losing record.
-
And it's lazy. Way too big of a cap hit.
-
Wow, overcompensate much?
-
Pressure on the blue line along with hard battling in the corners, plus solid tending, and we managed to clear a bunch of pucks.

While I realize we are both speculating, I'd like more evidence for this. I just can't see the greatest defenseman of his generation taking 3rd line minutes. I see him doing 1 year deals, a la Sakic, and playing 2, maybe 3 more years. Face it, Lids this year ain't equal to Lids last year, and Lids last year ain't equal to Lids two years ago. I really don't see him keeping a declining game on the ice. He is, after all, Nick Lidstrom.
-
4 years? I can't see more than two. He ain't gonna want to play 3rd line minutes. We're lucky he may consider 2nd line, if/when that happens. Lids will go out on top, and as such, will leave gas in the tank. I can't see him doing a Chelios.
-
He was never supposed to be a savior in Detroit. He was supposed to be a big bodied role player, coming off a serious back injury.
-
What the hell are you talking about?
-
You seem to have missed my point, which I will elaborate for you. When Mr Illitch bought the team, he decided to foster a family environment heavy in loyalty. This means standing by the players we draft. Z, Dats and Kronner are the future letter-wears for the Wings.
-
Calling me a hater when all you seem to do is complain about the Wings is rather ironic.
-
-
You have to go back to 1986 to find the last time the Wings have had a captain they didn't draft. I don't see this changing when Lids retires.
-
Are you ******* kidding me?
-
If he was, no one would make a dirty play on one of our players. This is an established LGW fact. Wait...
-
Bro, you're cool and all, but you have been a complete and utter condescending ****** since we lost the Finals last year. Everyone else is wrong, you are the only one who sees how it should *really* be, plus endless smarmy comments. Personally, I have no issue with it, just don't pretend you aren't doing it.
-
Except before, we played a more open, flowing style. Then we lost offensive talent and got a touch more defensive minded. Then we sustained a s***-ton of injuries and play an even more defensive style. I'm not defending the guy, I expect more production. But to pretend the issue is Datsyuk and Datsyuk alone and ignore the wholesale changes the Wings have made to their style of play and offensive flow is ridiculous.

I don't think this is "the turning point" (I think that will be when we start getting injured players back), but this is clearly a string of winnable games, even with said injuries.

Your being picky. It's my internet, it's you're internet... learn to share.
