I'm sorry, but there's no way that merely adding Lidstrom (our best defenseman) and Hossa (our leading goal scorer), not to mention Draper (our face-off specialist) is going to turn this around. We are a terrible team, we have no desire to win a Stanley Cup, and word on the street is we are lazy and suck. Babcock has no experience getting a team deep in the playoffs and Osgood has literally choked *every* time he's played in the post season. I say we just quit now. Why embarrass ourselves by playing in the playoffs? Every one knows we are just going to get swept.

Question. Suppose we sign Franzen to a 10 year deal at 6/6/6/5/4/4/3/2/1/1, a cap hit of 3.8 Say before year 7 we want to trade him. Does the team that takes him still get hit with the 3.8 cap hit, or would they get capped at what was left on the contract, a 2m cap hit?

11 yr/$3.9m cap hit is pretty bad. But there are lots of numbers beiong thrown out, so I reserve judgement until it is official.

Really? We've had him for two seasons, and we have a President's trophy and a second overall with him havinge little to no regular season impact, and a SC without him lacing up. Not knowing how the playoffs work out this year... how does it "definately" get "better"? I love Downey, but our problems this year are defensive in nature and the man brings nothing to change that to the table.

I don't disagree with your point, but to say there is no consistency given the numbers you provided is wrong. 80% of the time the Cup winner was in the top 7 in GAA, and only twice were they outsie of the top ten. That REEKS of consistency.
