That is, like, the greatest thing that has ever happened. Ever.

Red Wings place forward Darren McCarty on waivers
thedisappearer replied to The Mule's topic in General
I don't mind his actions last night, but that had nothing to do with the outcome at all. We would have owned the Oilers regardless... because of the ability to score and play defense... which McCarty has only a limited ability to do. -

Feel free to be a Ducks fan. -
Yeah. +1. That's why he's Lids. I'm thinking a month is optimisitic.

Sadly, eva is right, and this is why we are where we are. As long as the owners make money, why change the product, unless it will bring in more fans? Guess what close games and 3 point games do?
-
It takes more than three seasons to crack the "all-time captain" list. Sorry. How do you put Lids three seasons with the C ahead of Sakic's 15? Sakic has more Cups as captain. It's not about being the "worse" captain. it's about not being the second best captain of the modern era.
-
You are an *******. This is a hockey board. Keep your political views to yourself. Go Wings!

Dude, Lids doesn't compare to Sakic as a captain. Come one. Lids has... three seasons as captain? Sakic has, like, forever. He's the only Avs captain ever, right? If we're talking straight up player, it's Lids, but if it's captain... it's Sakic. Sorry.

Joe Sakic Mike Modano Then a bunch of ex-Red Wings...

Gerald Gallant: Games/Goals/Assists/Points: 615 211 269 480 Cam Neely: 726 395 299 694 John Ogrodnick: 928 402 425 827 Ray Sheppard: 817 357 300 657 Keith Primeau: 909 266 353 619 Maybe there is a case for Ogrodnick (but not really) but bringing Gallant, Primeau, and Sheppard into the conversation is simply retarded homerism. Get a grip.

I feel a 5-3 win. Hossa x 2, Sammy, Kronner, Rafs.

You don't say a single thing there that makes anyone involved relevant to the HHOF debate, and managed to not disuade from Dino. You referenced All Star nods... great. Dino has 600 goals. Counter that. *keep in mind, I don't think Dino is HHOF material, I just love it when eva gets stats-retarded about something that is illogical.
-
*giggles* No freaking way. I'm not saying Dino gets in, but Ray and Gerry need not be invited to the conversation. Dino- 600+ goals, almost 600 assists, even 1200 points. Dropped two 50-50-100 seasons. Gallant- barely played 600 games, scoring 211 goals. had a few 30 goal years Ray-Ray- 357 goals and 300 assists for 657 points. Yeah, nice try. Statistic your way outta that box o' stupid. Combined, Dino has better numbers. None of the three have anby hardware of note, so it's all numbers, and Dino broke 600.

I was never a Cleary fan, and I don't like his play this year, but I am not reasy to jump all over him. Yet. But damn if he ain't turning into the Sammy stereotype.

Has Sundin lowered his price and are the Wings a possibility?
thedisappearer replied to DRWExaminer's topic in General
Because we don't fit the whole criteria... just a s***-ton of good players... which we already fit anyway. I see no need to add ANOTHER bulls-eye to our back while we defend. Maybe you've read it's hard somewhere. There's a few people who believe the theory. Somewhere. Maybe on ESPN or something. -

I don't want him for one simple reason: I don't want to be the 2002 Red Wings. Yes.. I know... we won the Cup. But we weren't the defending champions with a stacked deck. We were that team that used to be good, but then choked in the first round a bunch and overcompensated by signing any player who was lights-out a decade ago and needed a Cup. We already have a target on our back, we already have a team that has proven it could win and then added Hossa... we just don't need Sundin. It would be an embarrassment of riches. -
Sorry, couldn't resist.
-
So what if the Pens have the commercial? We have the Cup. Screw em.

I miss Robert Lang and his excellent work ethic.

I miss that rule almost as much as the old division/conference names...
