    Back to backs

I understand the 2 on the west coast trip. It's the other two that seem weird- home for Avs, road for Bruins and road for Leafs, home for Ducks that seem weird. The travel may not be bad, but playing a game, flying to another city, gettting settled and playing the next day isn't good, either.

    Ducks Losing Streak

Well, if they are our biggest threat, doesn't it make sense to discuss them as opposed to, say, the Islanders or Panthers? And maybe we are not "terrified" of them, but they are our biggest threat, as you pointed out yourself. If you are tired of it, I suggest you don't click on threads about them. It's actually really easy to ignore.

    Oops. I stand corrected.

    1st Rounders Around The League

Nick is Nick... but he's also a third round draft pick. Just more proof we have excellent scouts.

    Forsberg turns down Swedish club

A buddy of mine said he read somewhere that Foppa wanted to make $1 mil this year after prorating, and $3mil next year. I would do it because 1- he's Forsberg, 2- we don't lose anybody and can still resign Z, and 3- i mean... he's Forsberg. I don't because 1- he's Forsberg, 2- Dammit, I want Hossa, and 3- he's Forsberg. I would pull the trigger.

    Phaneuf re-signs: 6-years, $39m

If he stays healthly and improves with age as he should... great contract for both parties.

    Official: Selanne signs with Ducks

Let's see what we have here... Selanne I have no beef with for the most part. He wasn't under contract and signed before the deadline. Perfectly legal. But comparing him to Foppa or Brunnstrom is not right. Foppa is an injury concern. He can't play 100% and stated he won't play until he can. He still must sign before the trade deadline though. Brunnstrom is a free agent who has never played in the league. His rights were never owned, he never laced them up, he is an undrafted rookie. Neids makes me sick. He was under contract, choose to not live up to the terms of his contract, and then came back. I agree whole heartedly that the Ducks should sustain the full cap hit. And yes, I think Burke, at least on a passive level, made this happen. He's cock, and even Duck Guy knows this(though he loves him for obvious reasons...). The league needs to change some rules but they won't as it would turn off casual viewers. Face it, a few more people will watch Ducks games on Vs to see Selanne. But I was glad to see GS&T call people Homers... it ain;'t a thread 'til that happens...

    Steve Downie-Karma is a bitch

I have sympathy for Downie due to his disability and the loss of his father (being there HAD to mess him up...), but Downie has a track record that doesn't allow me to give him the benefit of the doubt with stuff like this. So, one of two things happened: 1- Downie faked it, and is a bigger scum bag than I thought, or 2- George lit him up, and then I file this under "What You Reap So Shall You Sow". In hockey, when you take liberties, some one will always get you back. George got bounced, he paid his price. No suspension.

Yeah, why do they get to resign free agents? the league is so biased. I heard somewhere they are allowed to draft players who were amatuers and hadn't been drafted by another team. Geez, hand them the Cup next time. There's talk abot Forsberg coming back. Same with D-Mac. What is the difference? Hell, Nieds was still under contract to the Ducks, right? Are you saying it's unfair he was allowed to play out his contract?

    VIDEO: Fight Night in Anaheim

You call everyone you disagree with a Homer. Especially peopel who disagreew ith you. Now you see why others may find you incapable of reasoned thought. Because you can never shut the hell up when you think others are Homers? God, can you ever actually disagree with someone without accusing them of being a Homer? It is your sole means of defense, and even if thinks I agree with you on, it gets old. People feel other ways, and it may not be because they are blind to anything. Sometimes, it's an opinion based on something else. Grow up.

    Mr. Perfect

He's got a Conn Smythe and a gold medal winning goal and he doesn't step it up in the playoffs?

Favorite to least Favorite Wings Players

Exactly. As I love all the Wings, I would have to break it down like: Those I have a man-crush on- Lids, Z, Dats, Kronner, Kenny Holland (I know, I know- he's not a player. But I really dig that guy...) Everyone else And finally, those I wouldn't mind going away quickly- Sammy and Drake.
  16. thedisappearer

I love the guy, but I gotta admit - Im still surprised.

Then you mean "their grammar". I hate to say it, I hope he doesn't... until after we resign him. So there's always next year!

    ASG Captains

You are right, it is meaningless. Which is why most people spent 2 sentences on it. Unlike you.

Blake pining to become a Wing?

Not necessarily. Sign them both for 7.5 mil. There's 15, plus Dats 6 (20), Nick's 7.5 (27.5), Raf's 6 (33.5). There's still 20 mil out there. We would have to give up people to get him, and those guys have contracts, too. We wouldn't be able to keep the second tier guys like Huds, Fil, Mule, etc. And Grand Rapids can't plug those holes. That said, I find it unlikely. Hossa wants more, and even if he did take 7.5, I doubt Holland would want to have so little cap flexibility. But, damn, let a man dream.

    ASG Captains

Ok, let me get this straight: When people voice a simple idea, ie "Lidstrom should have been the ASG captain", they are pompous asshats, knuckle draggers, homers, and crybabies. Got it. Sadly, I didn't see anyone "sacrifice intelligence". Nick's resume is longer and more illustrious that Iginla. Nick is heading to another Norris quickly, on the best team in the league, lead the NHL in voting again, and there is finally a wind blowing that says "MVP for #5". The only thing going to Iginla is he has been a captain longer. So when my buddy called me yesterday and said "Dude, how did they skip over Nickie for the C?" he was a homer? Odd, he's a Pens fan. I get your point about homers- I feel the same way. Now go into a Sammy or Lilja thread and be a long winded, pompous asshat there, where you have a point.

    Me, too.

Blake pining to become a Wing?

We wouldn't get Hossa as a rental. It would be a sign and trade. We could probably get both, Hossa long term and Blake as a rental. What is Blake's contract situation?
