Holland Tells Quincey to Work on His Fighting
South Dakota wings fan replied to uk_redwing's topic in General
I guess what I was getting at was could we possibly see that lineup if Stuart does not return? Kind of wondering if that is what the D corps would look like. -
Holland Tells Quincey to Work on His Fighting
South Dakota wings fan replied to uk_redwing's topic in General
This is such an interesting situation trying to figure out what will happen with all of these D-men. Do we possibley see this next season Lids - Raffie Nik - Quincey Lebda - Ericcson Meech - Cheli I mean, it saves a lot of $$ for the forwards, and let's be honest, Quincey didn't play this year, but he has playoff experience from '07. That actually looks like a pretty decent line-up. Could be a lot worse. -
I have no idea what is going to happen with this guy, but did anyone else notice how disinterested he seemed to be at times during the post win celebration? I realize he joined the team late, and he probably doesn't feel like he is part of the group. When he spoke, he spoke of what had just happened as if he was speaking of something that happened 5 years ago. Then, when you see pictures of the team celebrating, he seemed to be moping with a look that said "I'm only here because I have to be." Just an observation.

Wow, I forgot about that. Good thing that trade never happened.

I guess it wouldn't be a bad idea if he comes cheap. But when Kopecky is healthy, he should fill the role left by Drake...should he decide to retire. I really thought Kopecky played well in March and April. Tucker might just fit in with this team, you never know. Bring him into a good atmosphere and maybe we see some added grit and hunger for a cup. Has Tucker won a cup? I don't think he has.?.

Yeah, I think he is hanging out with Jamie Rivers and Jason Woolley.

CBC also has a really good video on their website which is a compilation of its interviews from the post-game. It is like a half an hour long.

Looks to me like you have been somewhat vindicated by the recent story that Franzen did in fact have blood on the brain. Sounds like there was quite a bit of discussion about whether or not he would be able to come back, so the Dr. wasn't completely off his rocker...although he probably should have kept his mouth shut.

I would love to see Brad come back next year, but here are a few hurdles I see. 1. $$ per year. He made 3.5 per last season. That is more than Kronwall, our 3rd D-man. 2. Term. To get him to take less per year, we would need to give long term security. But how many years? Raffie and Kronwall each have four years left on their contracts. So do you give Brad 4 years too? Then you have 3 of your best guys that are UFA's at the same time. 3. The whole "west coast thing". Just some thoughts...

I have to agree. I only wish I could have watched a lot of this live last night. I thought that the NHL Network would have shown more of the locker room last night. And the wierd thing was, all of a sudden, they just stopped broadcasting, and I don't even rememeber them signing off. Hopefully they will have some parade coverage tomorrow. Even if it is highlights afterward. Let's go Back-to-Back!

Zetterberg contract talks to be picked up in July
South Dakota wings fan replied to Systemfel's topic in General
That seems pretty fair. I could see it being something like 7.8 x 7 years. The only question I have, is with his back problems, will he get a contract that long? -
I wonder if it isn't a good idea to bring in Chelios for Lilja and Mac for Malts or Drake? I have to think a couple pairs of fresh legs couldn't hurt. Now, have any of these guys done anything to deserve to be taken out of the lineup? Probably not. I do have to say, Lilja looked like an accident waiting to happen as the overtime wore on...but who am I to make that decision.

Thank you all for a wonderful time!

Best of luck in your battle. It is things like this that make us all realize what is truly important, but at the same time it can show us what an escape sports can be. Hopefully, the wings win, but more importantly we all hope you win your fight. Eric Asmus Sioux Falls, SD -
Questionable Story from "Blood Feud" ?
South Dakota wings fan replied to mmorland's topic in General
I have to say the book was a great read. It made me happy we didn't get Foppa or Foote. When I first read the excerpt about Scotty on the bus, I found it wierd people never heard about this. Remember, Scotty Bowman did write the forward to this book. Had it been false, he probably would not have contributed to the book. -
I have to believe it will be hard to keep him out of the starting lineup. I just don't see sending the kid back to Grand Rapids after playing almost every game, and playing well, during a deep playoff run.

Franzen cleared to practice FULL OUT
South Dakota wings fan replied to 10 Minute Misconduct's topic in General
I was just on the CBC website this morning, they cite a source inside the redwings organiztion saying the mule will not play game 2, is doubtful for game 3 and is most likely to play in game 4. http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/hnicplayof.../05/bowman.html -
I was wondering if anyone knows where you can get a Stanley Cup 2008 patch for a jersey? I can't find anything on NHL.com, but maybe I'm not looking in the right place. Anybody have any suggestions?

What Players should the Wings move during off-season?
South Dakota wings fan replied to djup's topic in General
I'm kinda with you here. I think we can all say that Hasek will most likely retire, or at the very least not be back. I don't think there is any way Lilja returns after rejecting 2 year extensions earlier this season and being a scratch most games this postseason. After reading the article on Mlive the other day about how Drake has been making long trips back and forth to his home on off days, I have to think if we win the cup he will retire. Can't say it would hurt my feelings to see Cheli retire either, but that right handed d-man is handy. Re-sign Stuart if possible. I think Downey's role could be replaced by D-Mac. I think there is very little trade value for Sammy. Why not use his services through the end of his contract for the low cap hit we have and figure out what to do with him next offseason. Before July 1, get Fillpulla signed to a new deal. After July 1, I think Kenny and the boys need to get the mule and Z signed to long-term extensions for sure. Lines could look like this: Z-Dats-homer Sammy-Fill-Mule Cleary-Draper-Kopecky Malts-Helm-Hudler D-Mac Lids-Raffie Kronwall-Stuart Ericcson-Lebda Meech might have to trade Quincey or Lebda. Just a thought. Abdelkader and other young guys could work there way into the lineup the following year Goalie Ozzie Howard -
What Players should the Wings move during off-season?

I have to agree that Kopecky was playing very well until he got low-jacked against Columbus. I thought you could really notice his absence at the beginning of the Nashville series before Helm came into the lineup. -
Franzen out for Games 2, 3, 4
South Dakota wings fan replied to 10 Minute Misconduct's topic in General
That's kind of what I was wondering. Why can't they take him to get the tests immediately? Get the Dr. to come in ASAP, this is important stuff. -
I have to say, I am a little bummed out by this. I bought one of the original shirts with nothing on the back. Now there are newer versions and I want one of those instead. I don't know if I can rationalize spending almost 50 bucks on two shirts that say "Feed the Mule"

When I saw these shirts, I could not resist getting one. The funny think about it is, my friends actually have called me "mule" starting about 8 years ago when I was a freshmen in college. I've thought about getting a jersey with 93 and Mule on the back. I think the shirt is a step in the right direction.
