I know that what is important right now is this run for the cup, but when I watch this team right now I can't help but think of the future. I don't know how Matlby breaks the lineup right now. Who among our forwards won't be around next year. Unless Dallas Drake retires if we win the cup, I don't know how you don't bring him back, he has been great so far in the playoffs. Downey might be the odd man out, but you still have guys like Abdelkader and Helm trying to make the lineup. I have to think, and hope, that Lilja is a goner. Now whether Stuart stays, I think Ericcson will stay up with the club. Needless to say, I think the future is very bright.

Is it wrong of me to think it would be better for Dats to win so Hank can't use the fact he won the Selke in contract negotiations? Does anyone else think Hank should sign either the same deal Pavel got or the 7 x 7 deal Spezza got?

Why does it seem like every playoff year, the wings get matched up against a relatively unheard of, untested goalie, who seems to end up getting in their head? This is just getting really frustrating almost each and every year saying things like: "Who the hell is this Giguere guy?" "When did Dwayne Roloson learn to play goal?" Where did Dan Ellis come from?" I think you get my point. Is anyone else ready to pull their hair out?

I'm all for it if it will work.

If we keep playing like this, we will be done in 6. Does anybody else wonder exactly what we are paying Rafalski $6 million to do out there? He looks lost. I also think the loss of Kopecky and his physicality has hurt.

They do seem to be running around in their own end quite a bit. Let's hope they can regain some composure and take control in the third.

Wasn't there also a Sharks color man who speculated that the team hated Babs early in a west coast road trip last season? I think he was forced into giving a public apology a day later. I seem to remember that. Didn't Dom turn the dressing room into a mess when he made his comeback in 2004 causing major issues with Cujo? He also was a problem in Ottawa in 2005...so I guess Milbury may have just been speculating based on the past. I do think all of the quotes this year from Dom and Ozzie have been fairly diplomatic. I do worry about Dom having a relapse into mediocrity (see Wednesday against Chicago), but he seems to bounce back pretty well the following game when he struggles.

Seeing that video really made me miss listening to Gary Thorne and Bill Clement call a game. I think Versus is getting better, but can Doc Emrick stop saying stuff like "two and three quarters minutes remaining in the period" Honestly, who talks like that?! In all my 27 years on this earth, I have never heard anybody say, "I'll be right there, just give me three quarters of a minute." Sorry, just a little rant.

I kind of like the fact that all of the "experts" are overlooking the Wings' chances. If Dom plays half as well as he did last night against Nashville, and Homer and Stuart get healthy, I like their chances.
