I understand shouting at the TV in the privacy of your home when a player doesn't perform. Anything goes. I understand ranting among friends in a private setting when a player doesn't perform. Anything goes. Taking the time to compose and post a message calling a player a "homosexual" on a message board where strangers, children, and quite possibly actual homosexuals can visit is oafish and dull. Use your adult words. Act like a decent human being. Slurs are best left to middle school boys who think using "naughty" words makes them cool.

Things you would like to see for 2015-16 Season

This all day. Glendenning should be part of the Wings' future. His absence for five minutes of the playoffs turned the entire series around. -

Abby scored 20+ goals this season. In the 90's that would probably be akin to scoring 30. I wouldn't mind seeing him continue in the top 6 if he keeps playing like that. As for Helm? Meh. He's a third liner, IMO. If the Wings can find a legitimate 2C (Weiss, UFA, trade), I could see Helm being expendable. -
signed Dylan Larkin turning pro... will play for GR immediately

We know how that ended. Kidding! I'm excited, too, though also somewhat saddened to see Babcock go. -
And that's one of the (many) inherent troubles with socialism. People don't realize when it's taken hold or they laugh it off. "That could never happen here." Back on topic, Fetisov is an authoritarian toady. When one advocates limiting the freedom of another, the only way to enforce it is with a gun.

Putting Pulk on the top line when the guy hasn't proven anything in the NHL yet (keyword YET) isn't sound strategy. -

Just like Mantha in 2014? I'll believe it when I see it AND I would like nothing more. Go Wings! -

Hasn't the Wiz criticized the Wings for lowballing players? I thought he and Kessler were two Michigan players who don't want to play for the home team. -
Coaching Search Thread a.k.a. the Jeff Blashill Thread

I wish I could be so optimistic. Babcock was right. Where is the next franchise player in this organization? Mantha? He hasn't lived up to the hype this season. Maybe he will later, but nothing is certain yet. Larkin? He's still a college player. Even if he turns out to be the Wings' next superstar, he's YEARS away from fulfilling it. Look how long it took Yzerman to win. Fans talk about the Wings' forward prospects and young players as if all of them are can't miss future all-stars. #Pulcannon Scores a ton in the minors but won't find the same kind of time or space in the NHL. Will he score like Brett Hull or Kirk Maltby in the bigs? Nyquist Was this season his sophomore slump? Gus scored fewer goals in more games while attracting a lot more attention from the opposition. Coincidence or could the small forward have hit his ceiling already? Jurco So far a complete dud. People go on and on about his potential (why, I don't know, his size maybe?) but it has yet to materialize on the ice in game. He's on a trajectory to become the next Brendan Smith or worse. Tatar Tots is the "youngster" I'm least concerned about. High compete level, seems to really want to win and score. Still, how many undersized forwards can a team ice and remain competitive? Mantha See above. Mediocre first season. Injured early, yes, but he hasn't yet dominated since returning. How long will it take for his supposed "can't miss" player that every team wanted in a trade starts living up to the hype? Larkin Sill lives in a dorm paid for by his parents. This is the next franchise superstar? It's gonna be a while. AA Honestly don't know enough about him to comment. As for the defense, Marchenko, Sproul, Jensen, XO, and Riley's brother (thanks, Kip) aren't all going to become impact players. Thankfully it looks like DD will be. Too bad the next best defenseman on the team is 35. Again, I wish I could be so optimistic. I hope every one of the Wings' prospects turns into a franchise player and the team has to start shedding stars because of contract space. What a problem to have! But it won't happen. It can't. The odds and history don't support it. -

Babcock granted permission to talk to other teams
Internet.Unknown replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Hyperbole much? The Decision was a 75 minute television special on ESPN starring a player who hadn't yet won anything in the league. C'mon. We all want the Babcock issue resolved, but it's nothing like circus surrounding and promoted by Lebron James in 2010. -
Since the (stupid) salary cap, no team but the Wings has made the playoffs every season. Now add like another 15 years to that streak. So, yes, it's remarkable being in the top 53% for 24 years straight. I'm not saying making the playoffs is enough. The Wings should strive for more and we fans certainly want more. But this 53% argument is misleading mantra repeated by those who are trying to downplay the genuine and unquestionable significance of the streak.

Brings back memories. RIP Steve

The Wings passed on drafting Jagr because of their troubles with Klima. Management often looks at the past to predict the future.
-
The sooner some people realize that the Wings are going to do everything they can to keep the streak alive, the better. P.S. I'm just the messenger.

You got me there. I'm too ashamed to admit how long I quit watching hockey after that. Broke my heart ...

Do you remember the awful Adam Oates trade? Still losing sleep over that one. And don't get me started on Adam Graves! Sheesh! /sarc Those were bad moves but even frustration has a shelf life.

S'matter Yzerman, afraid of the jersey you wore for so long?

Actually, in a "free country" one should be able to discriminate ... and suffer the economic consequences of bad PR. -
Is Hank too slow and ineffective to play center?

Gee, if Z moved to wing, Weiss could actually center a line. Would be interesting to see how both players responded. -

Losing Streak affecting Babcock's Decision?
Internet.Unknown replied to Datsyukian-Deke's topic in General
Blashill vs. Babcock? People can't be serious! Without any NHL head coaching experience, Blashill is the consolation prize to Babcock's proven winner. -
Wait. Nyquist scores?

Gah, seeing those uniforms is like being forced to stare at the advertisements placed above urinals in the a men's bathroom.
