Your favourite Red Wings misfit of all time
Internet.Unknown replied to canadian wings fan's topic in General
Does Daniel Shank qualify? Publicly kissing one's stick is usually regarded as a misfit's behavior. -
Players should play for as long as they want and for as long as teams will pay them.
-
I'm sure it would play "a big role on Alfie's decision," but didn't he already make that decision? He left Ott. I think your assumption that he may return to the Sens is likely.
-
My point wasn't about whether he was a good fit in Detroit. He left Ottawa and uprooted his family to win a Cup. That isn't going to happen in Detroit. This leads me to wonder why he would NOT go elsewhere after this season. His priority is to win a Cup, not fit in with a lousy/rebuilding team.
-
Why do so many posters think Alfie will return if he does not retire? Wasn't his goal in coming here to finally win a Cup? It's extremely unlikely that the Wings will do so this year. Next year is doubtful as well. Alfreddson would be best served to go elsewhere for a legitimate shot to hoist the Cup.

Every analyst except a couple of know-it-all posters (not you) on this site.

I was in attendance in '93 when Toronto eliminated Detroit at home in game 7 of the first round of the playoffs. The players may have changed, but the uniforms haven't. I won't need to manufacture any hate. My memory lasts a long time. I'll give you Pittsburgh though. Hate hate hate the Penguins. Give the Eastern Conference a year or three and a couple of playoff losses. We will all start to hate the teams in the East.

You must be young. Some of us oldsters still have a deep hatred for Toronto. So glad the Wings can renew that rivalry now. And just think how sweet it will be when the Wings beat Chicago in the Cup Finals some year.

Larry Murphy Talks Winter Classic, Red Wings and More on Sports Radio
Internet.Unknown replied to SportsRadioDetroit's topic in General
Murphy sucked, but Ozzie sucks more. I root for him for nostalgia's sake. -
Shawn Thornton attacks Orpik (leaves game on stretcher)

Love how the guy who perpetrated the assault is repentant yet some posters here disagree with him. -
gdt 12/6 GDT 7:00PM: Red Wings 3 at Devils 1

Isn't this exactly the opposite of why Weiss is having troubles? The Wings require their forwards to be responsible in both ends. Confused. "Weiss said he's still getting used to the Red Wings' style, which emphasizes rigid defensive responsibility." http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/florida-panthers/fl-florida-panthers-news-1207-20131206,0,3984817.story?track=rss -
Do Quincey and Smith have a future in Detroit?
Internet.Unknown replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
Maybe in all the time St. James has spent with the team, Q has admitted to being less than mediocre. Maybe mediocre doesn't seem like an insult to the guy at this point. I, for one, would appreciate a reporter who tells it like it is. Not one who is afraid to criticize a team/players for fear of missing out on a juicy quote. We get enough rubbish shoved in our craws by the nightly newscasts and propagandist papers. I don't need another helping in my sports reporting. -
I'm not one of those people who moan about players' salaries. But I do think professional athletes are paid to perform year round, not just in the playoffs. A guy who can't perform in the regular season, to me, isn't playing like a professional. I certainly hope this isn't the case with Howard.
-
I don't hope for that. I hope he turns his game around.

Internet.Unknown replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
Seems like a pretty fair assessment. Q has been mediocre at best. Some nights he has been downright awful. What's wrong with using "mediocre?" -
He got a bump, I suspect, because he's a Swede. The Wings organization trusts Swedes today as much as mistrusted Czechs in the '90 draft.

With regards to Q, I think his problem is obvious. He sucks because he doesn't want to be in Detroit. He played much better in CO and is said to be an avid outdoorsman. I think he's simply unhappy with where he is. It was a dumb trade by Holland and Quincey will bolt as soon as his contract expires. At least I hope so. -

Someone hasn't been watching Smith closely since his return to the lineup. The kid looks like he's finally "getting it." He's going nowhere. -
Agree with much, but Tatar isn't a mini-Dats. Not even close. Tatar can't play defense yet and is frequently knocked around by bigger players. He has a lot of offensive capabilities. He's fast, tenacious, and full of energy. He might even have a chip on his shoulder, which can't hurt at 23. Now Nyquist, on the other hand, seems to have some of Datsyuk's stealthy puck-stealing skills.
-
I caught it but thought he was dissing Smith.
-
Smith has played well since coming back. He looked like a real gamer against Ottawa. Anyone who didn't see that wasn't watching or is too investing maintain him as a whipping boy.
-
I'm thankful that he's already nicknamed Goose.

Your name isn't ironic. Your post was. 1. You claimed Q wouldn't likely be resigned (a slug player). 2. Cleary, however, was resigned (another slug). 3. You sport a "Bench Cleary" signature. By your sig, you're aware that the Wings do in fact sign players that shouldn't be signed. That's the irony. Perhaps you know this and are trolling me.
-
You claim there's no chance the team will resign Quincey, but it resigned Cleary. Bad things happen.
-
Says the poster with a "Bench Cleary" signature graphic. Irony, your name is Crymson.
