But, in any event, I think the layoff would hurt the top seeds too much, even if you shortened the first round series. The system, would however, give a little more incentive to winning divisions. But I think that the main incentive to winning your division/conference is to have home advantage in a potential game 7. This is when home advantage seems to make the most difference in the playoffs (just ask Colorado).

I like the All Star Game just how it is. I'm not a big fan of a situation in which the Wings make the cup finals and may not have home advantage in a potential Game 7 because two Red Wings and a bunch of other non Red Wings players lost a game to the Eastern Conference. I do agree that it might add a little more relevance to the game, but I think that most All Star Games' purposes are to acknowledge and perhaps shed light on the top talent in each sports league. There are good arguments on both sides, but I'm content with just kicking back and watching most of the game's best on the same rink for one day.

Backstrom has definately gone under the radar for too long this season. He is a nice compliment to AO and has been a big part of the revival of the Capitals, who are right back in the playoff hunt.

I think everything should be kept the way it is except one thing. Take away points for overtime losses. I'm not a big fan of giving teams points for any type of loss, especially since no credit is given for losses in the playoffs. This would also add more drama to the overtime and, if nothing was settled in the five minute overtime, the shootout. This way every game would have a winner and a loser, and we can keep the shootout, which is fun to watch anyway and adds a little flair to some of the regular season games. I also agree with those who would be disgusted if any type of shootout happened in the playoffs.

I think Toews and Kane are one year out from being in the game. They'll likely end up in the young stars game, which should be a great one this year!

It was looking like the division had some promise at the beginning of the season, but the non-wing teams have kind of faded over the last month. All teams but the wings have won 5 or less of their last 10. Also, nice job by the blackhawks allowing 9 goals to the kings yesterday.

Another great moment I remember from that game........Roy made a save sometime in the second when the Wings were already up by several goals and then sarcastically celebrated in the middle of the game by raising is arms in the air to the fans while play was going on. Anyone remember that one?

I personally have a bad history with fans in Nashville. I've had everything from snowballs to half-filled beers thrown at me solely for having a Red Wings jersey on in various road trips down there.

Have you considered trying Center Ice Online? It's excellent for anyone with a high speed internet connection. The main disadvantage is that you don't have the luxury of watching games in your living room. The base price is cheaper than the cable price and they also offer a discount to those who have purchased it on cable. I had to get the online version because WOW pulled Center Ice from their service this year.

I am actually quite surprised as to how well michigan is doing this year based on the loss of many seniors, but it just speaks to the fact that at least one of their sports is recruiting and playing well. I always get a lot more pumped for the CCHA tourney at the Joe as opposed to the GLI. Most years, Michigan and MSU and some of the other teams are missing a few key players at the GLI because they have gone and played in the World Junior Championships, which is always the same time. Regardless, the banner hanging at the Joe always helps recruiting.

It is definitely a must to return to ESPN from a financial and fan standpoint. Plus I miss Gary Thorne's over reactive calls of every goal. "Shot, SCOOOOOOOOORRRRRREEEE!"

I'd bring back Shanny because he'd have more chance to fight Adam Foote like the old Wings/Avs days this season since the Wings play the Jackets 4,603,209 times a season with the current scheduling format.

Although the schedule is going back to it's old format next season (thank goodness), it's ironic that the two divisions in which all of their teams are currently over .500, Central and Atlantic, ARE NOT playing each other this year. Would've been fun to track their record against each other. Boo........
