I heard about this on a news update on the radio this morning on the way to work. It caused anxiety with me. I was around 25 yrs old and had developed Atrial Fibrillation, and was in the hospital resting from an RF Ablation procedure at U of M Hospital to repair it and that night I was watching the game when Fischer collapsed on the bench. It sent chills down my body because here I was laying in the hospital with the 'relatively non life threatening version' of what Fischer had. He had Ventricular Fibrillation I believe, which is the quivering of the lower ventricles in the heart. If those chambers don't beat right, you're dead. Mine was the top chambers were 'quivering', not beating right. Worst thing that would have happened to me was a stroke from pooling of the blood in the heart, but it was nowhere near as threatening to my life as the ventricular kind. Anyway, when I heard the update this morning, I immediately thought about Fischer, and then about my former heart problems. Even to this day it makes me nervous and it's been 10 years, my heartbeat. Haven't had any more trouble, but I am into weightlifting and fitness, and it does cross my mind on occasion. What if I were to collapse like that? It really is scary stuff. For me, I'm 'cured' I guess, have had no problem in 10 years, but you just never know. I guess that's why it's important to try to enjoy life. I'm very glad they were able to revive. I would assume his career is done.

With all that said, if Chicago does come back and win the series, good for them, they deserve every bit of praise that they get.

Not only all that, but you get the star players hurt, when players like Bickell belt Datsyuk, or players like Erickson go after Toews. How is it a good thing to have an instigator rule in hockey? It's NOT! BRASS, YOU CANNOT MANAGE THE LEAGUE BETTER THAN THE PLAYERS!!!!!!!!!! So tired of watching this crap garbage NHL.

when all is said and done and i calm down, I'll go back what what i've said all post season. The idea they got to the 2nd round and got to 3-1 on chicago is amazing. I didn't expect them to win 1 game against chi. The future looks bright, but man the defense needs some coaching. Way too many turnovers and howard bailed us out of most of them. Too many I got it you take it situations, too many passes around in the zone and turning it over, etc. With all that said, I'm so sick of complaing about the refs, it really makes me not want to watch the NHL anymore, and I'm losing my desire year after year as it just gets worse. I thought the refs were good earlier in the series for the msot part. Let most stuff go both ways and let the teams play, would get involved shortly here in there but otherwise stay out of it. Tonight that younger ref called most of the stuff I thought. I think he called the penalty shot

You can't leave a chicago player with all day to score with nobody near them in front of the net. That penalty shot call was a disgrace by the league. Absolute ridiculous. Players earlier in this series were hauled down no call, that was a tap and it's a PS? LOL I seriously think this is why 10 people watch hockey, or at least it's a big reason why. You get excited to watch your team, and the refs do nothing but sway the games. One minute it's a call, the next it's not.

That's how it's always been, a chincy call then the obvious one is not called. How are these the best hockey referees in the world? Sounds like propaganda to me.

Why does anybody celebrate a 5 on 3 goal. It's 5 on 3 lol I bet the sharks have had more playoff 5 on 3 opportunities the last 5 years than anyone in the league. THat'd be an interesting stat to look up.

Since nobody really thought the wings would ever be in this situation this year (including me), I'm finding myself paying more attention to the situations that continue to present themselves for the youngsters. What a bunch of learning experiences they've gained this year versus having to wait until next year, all because they bought in and were able to get through game 7 of the Ducks. Every situation is different, including this one. We'll see how the young guys respond to getting blown out and now some pressure is on them to win this game. I still say 90% of the pressure is on Chicago to win, since they are the Presidents cup winners and have the high expectations. I will be a little disappointed if we didn't win this series, but at least it would be a collapse to the best team in the league. But let's just hope the wings get it done tomorrow.

Yeah I thought we played a little slower than we have been playing, but I think the hawks clearly looked desperate and didn't want to get punked in front of their home crowd. I am fully expecting to see the wings match or exceed what the Hawks bring tomorrow. I expect we will win tomorrow. At least, I really hope so. I think if we don't win tomorrow we are done. And I really don't want to leave the western conference getting bounced by the Hawks coming back down 3-1 in a series. I think they've never come back from that scenario in their history. Let's not be the first to let that one happen. Would really be nice to run it up on them tomorrow, have that kind of luck going for us where most of the shots seem to go in like in some previous historical games . But, I'm sure it'll be an OT game and leave us all breathing in a bag.

Risk his injured thumb? I'm not sure there's much risk. We're not talking about a back issue. The sooner he can get back the better. He can upgrade the defense if he comes back. Would be great to be in the finals and have him as the option.

I think Bickell would have fought Erickson or somebody that challenged him. He's been lookin to go with somebody. I say let's just focus on WINNING, and shaking hands after game 6! If this goes 7 I just don't see us winning it, not since it's in Chicago. We got our 1 win we needed there, I think that's all we're going to get. And I have a feeling the wings are aware of it. Not that they CANT go in there and win, but Chicago isn't Anaheim, and that Chicago crowd is crazy. We will win it in 6 though. I'm pretty confident about it.

Hey GMR, did you happen to see Don Cherry after I think it was the 1st intermission when he was showing clips of players like Toews, Crosby, etc getting jabbed and punched, and that the instigator rule implementation caused all this? I was in 100% agreement with Don. He showed Kronwall rubbing Toews into the goal post and somebody facewashing crosby. He said "what if gretzky had to deal with all that? I agree. I think that Zetterburg, Datsyuk, Yzerman, Toews, Kane, Crosby, Malkin, and the list goes on, all suffer becuase of that instigator rule. I would enjoy hockey a TON more if they got rid of that rule and brought the enforcer back. I think the gam would open up and it would be a lot more enjoyable agian, just what we all are clamouring for.

I wanna see Howard make it to round 3 for the first time. He has earned it in my book. And I've been a bit skeptical of him the last couple of years. But this year he's showed a lot. We've been asking for a goalie that can steal a game or two since Hasek. And we got em now. And Hasek had A TON more talent around him to help. We have completely blatent breakdowns and Howard has bailed us out countless times all series. That's what you want. Just like Quick.

Now babcock has more ammo to use with the wings to lecture them on why it's so important to play hard every shift and that it will take a perfect effort to eliminate the best team in the league. I'm not worried...yet. I trust in Babs.

But in a weird way, don't you actually feel a oddly better that we got blown out tonight versus had we lost it in 2OT or something very dramatic like that? I do. If we were going to lose I didn't want it to be close, and it wasn't.

We will win game 6 guys. Just relax. Chicago was too good to go down in 5. Simple as that. I am amazed we won game 4 honestly. I kept telling people at work all day on game 4 day that it would be 'too good to be true' to go up 3-1 in the series. But we did. Now Chicago has the daunting taks of coming to a college like atmosphere in Detroit again. We are winning this in 6!

You and most fans fall into this trap that if a team didn't win or score a bunch of goals, they didn't show up. News flash, there's a competitor on the ice also. The wings looking 'not as good as last game' has a lot to do with the desperation of the better team they are playing against. Fans have a hard time distinguishing between a team not showing up and the other team playing better. Chicago didn't allow us to control the game. We weren't able to impose our will. But the Wings showed up. Game 1 I would say the wings didn't show up, and this was a better effort than game 1 was, much better effort. Just not as good as games 2-4. But again, you cannot expect a team to win every game, nor play at such a high level, EVERY GAME. Oh and by the way, because we won game 4 it would appear that we 'showed up to play', but if you ask me, we got very lucky. Howard was left out to dry but came up big (stole the game), and also had a lot of puck luck and goal posts help him out (not discrediting Howard, but we got the bounces). I'm just tired of reading "we didn't show up" if we lose a game. Chicago fans were saying the same after all their losses. Chicago played pretty decently in games 3 and 4, we just played better.

Also the announcers are making a big deal about Toews scoring. Well, that's 4 goals now in like 35 or 36 playoff games. Not that scary. We'll see what Monday brings. I'll only get nervous if we drop game 6. Game 5 I fully expected to lose.

You guys are acting JUST LIKE the chicago fans were acting on their boards after a loss. the same people losing their minds here were praising the wings just this morning. It should have been expected not to win this game, IN CHICAGO! You knew chicago was going to show up with everything they had. It's hard to do that two straight games. Now we go back home. If chicago beats us there, they deserve to win the series. God man. Fans are so wishywashy. People need to stay more even keel. Look at the bigger picture.
