WCSF Game 1 GDT: Red Wings 1 at Sharks 2 (OT)

Doan has many qualities that a fan would like. He plays with heart and passion. He may hammer people and take some cheap shots, but he tries to lead his team. Thornton is a loser and until he wins something he'll always be an overhyped piece of s***. Same goes with much of the SJ team. s***agucci is the leading diver. Last year I think he drew 3 5 on 3 penalties from diving. I hate ****** teams that dive. I hate it on the occasion a wing does it and I hate it when other teams do it. It just shows a disrespect to the game. Ill get off my high horse now.

    Nashville vs. Vancouver

Having watched about 10 minutes of this game it doesn't look like anywhere near the intensity of the chicago series. Is nashville really that inferior or are they rusty? WTF? Well, given what Rinne is doing maybe we should be fortunate to draw Niemi and his dangerous 86% save percentage.

    Nashville vs. Vancouver

Have the preds at least been laying the smackdown on Vancouver? Frankly I don't have nashville standing a chance, but maybe they can beat Vancouver up by hitting them every chance. Thanks for the summary.

    Nashville vs. Vancouver

Can someone give a quick synopsis of the 1st period for me? How is Nashville looking against vancouver? Is vancouver showing any signs of wear/tear or letdown? I thought the game started at 10 or 10:30 so I just sat down to watch it and it's 1st intermission! DOH!

    Nashville vs. Vancouver

The thing that worries me about vancouver beating nashville, is nashville does not have all the offensive weapons up front to get it done like Vancouver does. I hope Rinne shuts the door, but the preds are inferior to Chicago in the form of offensive weapons. I just don't know if they can get it done. Vancouver played great yesterday, as one cohesive unit. If they continue to play that way, very solid and cohesively, I don't think nashville has much of a chance. But the intangible here is Nashville will have had 4-5 days off and Vancouver is going to have ZERO time to prepare. This should heavily favor Nashville, especially with Vancouver coming off a very emotional series. I hope there's a letdown and Nashville takes advantage in game 1. Just split and go home and take care of business! The only conspiracy and whining I have been upset about with regard to scheduling was in 2009 when we earned the time off beating Chicago in 5 games but instead the series got moved up quickly which heavily benefited Buttman's team, the s***tsburgh Penguins. That was very frustrating. Our guys were very banged up for that series and the 2-3 days extra could have really benefited us. But going 7 games, that's one of the disadvantages. If you play all 7 games you don't get time off. So, I don't know why Vancouver fans would be whining about it. I have seen them say that they are all emotionally spent and wished there was more time but I haven't seen any of them crying conspiracy.

    Nashville vs. Vancouver

Nashville has a lot of scrappy guys. Even if Vancouver wins, I hope Nashville beats the hell out of Vancouver. The canucks are due to have a letdown in game 1 or game 2. I think Nashville can split easily and really make Vancouver work hard for everything.

    Nashville vs. Vancouver

If it takes Vancouve 6 or 7 to get rid of Nashville they will be so tired for round 3 they'll be ripe for the taking. COME ON RINNE! Van in 5 though. yeah because they've won A playoff series in their history.

Positive Signs for The Wings in These Playoffs

The ONLY reason I'd want to play san jose next round is for the motivation factor. The wings often play best when they are motivated. In round 1 it was comments from Doan and a Phoenix Analyst that I am 1000% certain ended up on the bulletin board one way or another. In round 2 if it's San Jose, it's going to be the beating we got last year. I think the wings got embarrassed last year, getting beat in 5 games, and handily. We can argue the referreeing in that series but let's keep that out of this conversation for now . The wings will be 100% focused playing a team like San Jose. On that note, my honest opinion is I'd rather play Nashville. They are a 1 hour flight away and 1 time zone, that is much easier to deal with for the wings and for the fans. The thing I'd worry about here is a Red Wing letdown. Nashville is a good team but they aren't a sparkling team like SJ or Vancouver, or Chicago. So I would be more worried about the wings having a letdown early in the series if we play Nashville.

    Nashville vs. Anaheim

ALRIGHT PREDS! WAY TO GO! Would be nice to see the preds win themselves their first playoff series. They haven't been able to on account of running into us every year . I hate anaheim with a passion. Their time zone, Fairy Perry (I like that one by the way), GetMeOff Getzlaf, f*** em. Close it out preds! Get rid of another west coast team!

    Ilya Bryzgalov

Uhh yeah both of those goalies have done jack s*** in the playoffs, so until they win a cup the verdict is out on both of those goalies, Luongo and Miller. I still think Luongo is overrated. We'll see this year.

    Ilya Bryzgalov

Would not mind having him but most number 1 goalies have a problem sharing or taking a back seat. I felt bad for Bryz. At times the Wings made him look bad but the Phoenix team in general was vastly inferior to Detroit. Phoenix had good work ethic but not much talent, at least not compared to a seasoned lineup like Detroit. How do you stop a team that 13 different goal scorers hurt you in 4 games? Guys keep in mind Homer is getting older as well and we will definitely need to find a replacement for him. He's a key to the wings offense. I would actually have liked to pick up Bufoogaly googaly when he got traded or released whatever, from Chicago. Price tag was too high though, but invaluable player. When they let him go (chicago) i couldn't believe it.

WCQF Game 4 GDT: Red Wings 6 at Coyotes 3

Didn't all the Versus homos pick Phoenix? I think they did. Ass clowns... In the game predictions thread I picked Wings in 5 and thought i was nuts. Never saw a sweep coming at all, especially with the way the wings were playing in the regular season. I'm impressed thus far. If they keep this up against a contender like SJ I will REALLY be impressed.

WCQF Game 4 GDT: Red Wings 6 at Coyotes 3

Honestly, I want to play a team that has a lot more interest in the skill of the game versus trying to hit and injure people. I think round 1 opponents usually resort most to this kind of play with the Wings. Nashville, Phoenix most recently. I say right now, we owe San Jose an Ass WHOOPIN... Now that we just shut Doan up about thinking it was a mistake they didn't beat us last year, and some Phoenix Analyst claiming Detroit was afraid to play them, I think we need to go show that it was a mistake SJ beat us last year.

Man I actually feel bad for Bryzgalov. He was left out to dry a lot but he gave up some atrocious goals, including the game winner. You could see how deflated he was after that. Coyotes were just outmatched, outclassed, out skilled in most every way in this series. I'm glad the wings decided to show up for the playoffs. I am now officially eating crow for having my doubts. With that said, we'll see how they do in round 2 when the competition gets much tougher. YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so glad they earned themselves a week off. We should have a full roster to start round 2.

I don't know what the f*** that Phoenix player was doing with the puck just before we scored that 2nd goal but my god. Phoenix has brain lapses regularly. THey keep that up and this series is over tonight. I'd like to see Bertuzzi get a goal, get him goin.

WCQF Game 4 GDT: Red Wings 6 at Coyotes 3

Funny thing though, as 'well' as they're playing, the wings are handling them relatively easy. There hasn't been any sustained pressure or anything. It's just 2 bad bounces is all. If we lose I'm not worried at all. I am confident the series goes 5 max. Would be nice to finish it tonight though, get 1 1/2 weeks off or rhwatever.

Well, I bet against the wings in game 3 and I'm going to do it again. Just don't see it. I think we're due for a little letdown. I predict a 4-2 loss open netter, game will be close. I HOPE I AM WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice shot there. And here we go, drama time.

WCQF Game 3 GDT: Red Wings 4 at Coyotes 2

We need to start playing here. Here we go again, sitting back, wayyy too much possession in our own zone, and now we got called for a penalty. It's gonna take only one goal to turn this game around. The wings need to kill this penalty.

WCQF Game 3 GDT: Red Wings 4 at Coyotes 2

Hard to pin it on Bryz in my opinion. First goal was screened by his own player, the second was deflected, the third was a rebound.

WCQF Game 3 GDT: Red Wings 4 at Coyotes 2

The refs are not cooperating with my theory LOL. I am surprised we have not had a ton of penalties called on us since we are up 2-0 in the series and had a nice cushion earlier. Lot of game left though.

Maybe this is becuase in the last 20 years the wings have very rarely run into a team that is equally or more skillful, so they have to goon it up and try to knock the smaller wings off their game. I mean, it's probably what I'd tell my squad to do as well. If you can't beat them with skill you have to find other means. I do understand the strategy, but when you start taking cheap shots and doing illegal things then that's where I start getting frustrated that the instigator rule is in place.
