Interesting that Ty Conklin said the league just wants CHI in thne playoffs. Funny that a player would insinuate manipulation in the league. I think we all think that, whether some of us wanna admit it or not.
-
Can we please stop ******* looking for the perfect ******* play? Throw it into feet and scrum for a ******* goal, like every other team does in this ******* league. I'm sorry for all the ******* swearing. I'm seriously annoyed by this team the last 5 games. Other than the nashville game it's just been pathetic to say the least.
-
And what side of the fence are you on?
-
I love Ken and MIck, and Murph does seem drugged most of the time, but when these guys start making excuses and pre-empt it with "not to make excuses", that really enrages me. This team continues to not play 60 minute games. Because of the level of offensive talent they have, they can stay in games. But when they aren't scoring, they won't have much chance. And this is my greatest fear in the playoffs. If they run into a hot goalie we are screwed. We won't keep the goals allowed low enough to stop a team with a hot goalie.

I think you're still stuck in the pre-shootout mentality there brother. Pre-shootout, 100 point seasons were impressive. Today, almost every team that makes the playoffs gets 100 points. The 8th seed in the west will have 95+ points. So, I disagree with you. Despite the record, the defense has sucked, and I as well as others have CONTINUED TO SAY THIS. We are all fans here, and there's absoultely nothign wrong with calling out your team when they are slacking off in an area. The ONLY reason they have 100+ points right now and are in the playoffs is because they're scoring 4 goals a game. Otherwise forget it.
-
I'd be curious to see the same stat for the rest of the playoff teams in the west. Do you have the time to figure that out and post it? I'd appreciate it!
-
This is actually an irrational statement. If they're that worried, then those key players should be benched. I was talking to someone at work about this earlier. They should bench Datsyuk, Franzen, Helm, Cleary, Filpula, Lidstrom, Stuart. Bench all of them, healthy scratch. We can't afford ANY INJURIES. Yeah babs, we get it. BENCH THEM THEN. How can you tell them we don't want to get injured but yet play hard?

You know anyone that thinks this is just Detroit playing lackluster because they'll turn it on in the playoffs, I'm calling you out. You're a bunch of f***in idiots. I LOVE this Wings team, but this edition of the wings absolutley pisses me off. I swear to God more nights than not this year they have had this lackluster mentality. I don't get it. Sloppy play, bad turnovers ALL YEAR. How are they all of a sudden going to just turn it up next week? Look at the NOTICEABLE difference between how Chicago is playing and the wings. They're ******* skating circles around us. Bulls***. This is a rivalry game. f***in ridiculous. This team sucks. We aren't beating anyone in round 1. I don't care who it is. I'm pissed.
-
Man, the wings better F'n play good today. I'm sick of this lackluster nonsense. Letting teams skate all over you, defense sucking ass...this all better change in the playoffs. Leave it to the wings to let chicago make it into the playoffs. It's going to come back to haunt us. I have a bad feeling.
-
Wings players should take note of how the Hurricanes clear that puck right out of their zone along the boards. SMART. LEARN RED WING DEFENSE! You all forgot this fundamental the last, oh, 70 games.
-
If it were the wings it would not have counted.
-
And Ill bring it up, why not: Howard yet again gives up 3 goals . Not going to bag on him tonight, I just had to say it. Kill the shutout plz!
-
Did you really just compare that team with this team? LOL

Carolina sucks. Seriously. Some people here think they're playing out of their minds and the wings are playing well. I don't know. Maybe in the 1st period both teams were playing ok, but I think it was the goal by Carolina that gave them their jump in the 2nd. I still think Carolina sucks. If this game meant something to Detroit I think we'd be destroying them. Carolina looks like a very average team to me, even when they're backs are against the wall. They just don't look impressive. I don't know. That's how I see it. I'm glad we are going to be at least 3rd. I guess that's what I'll be happy with. I just pray for no more injuries.
-
Please, pretty please nobody else get injued. f***, bench the first 2 lines and helm. Let the rest of the guys get all the minutes. lol
-
The wings better show up with Chicago Friday. If we play a dud I'm gonna really be f***in pissed. Today is fine, but I swear to God if Detroit lets chicago get in the playoffs and it comes back to haunt them I'm not watching the wings all next year. Just kidding...sorta.
-
Why must the wings make 10 passes before someone shoots? They're giving up decent opportunities for a slam dunk that ain't there. Carolina is doing a good job helping the goalie. It's frustrating to watch.

A rebound there is excusable, what's not is Howard takes his sweet ass time getting back to the other post. He overplayed that and was slow to get back. He has been burned many times this year on that kind of play. This is a gripe I have with him. AT any rate, we haven't scored, it doesn't seem like we care too much. Babs is mixing the lines up constantly, maybe that's why. Maybe the wings locking up 3rd at worst has killed their motivation. It would be sweet to beat Chicago twice in regulation this weekend and eliminate them from the playoffs.
-
I'm not sure I even want to win this game. If we get 3rd we likely avoid Chicago which is what I want LOL. But I know I know, be careful what you wish for...
-
Or the league will continue to show they want Detroit out of the picture, like in the SCF finals 2 years ago, and have us start the day after our last game, then follow that up by 1 day off then a back to back set of games lol.
-
Do you mean Nashville? We didn't play chicago recently where we won. I'm not saying the Wings can't win the cup at all, I'm just saying we are not the benchmark team in the west. And I think this can be a good thing. I still think SJ and Vancouver are the teams favored in general to win the cup. The wings are in the conversation but not like in past years. I think the Wings can do it, but a lot has to go right. The goalie situation needs to stabilize, the defense needs to be solid unlike during the regular season, and the big guns have to be the big guns. If all that happens, we are as formidable as anyone but I don't feel comfortable picking the wings to win the cup like I have the past few years.

I agree about the travel and about the opponents. But keep in mind, SJ, Van, LA, Phx, those all have to do plenty of travel themselves. I don't know if it's harder for them to travel here and play earlier games to their biological clocks or for east coast teams to travel west and play later games according to their biological clocks (probably better to travel east than west actually). In a perfect scenario, Chicago gets 7th or 8th, we get 3rd, avoid Chicago, and let Chicago take a shot at upsetting one of the other two big boys who in my opinion, and it is painful to say it, look to be the teams to beat over the Wings in the west. Not just because they finished higher in standing, but because they have not won anything and both teams are very good, well rounded, well coached, and have had disappointing post seasons in recent memory. I don't know if I'm more afraid of Vancouver or SJ this year. San Jose just looks scary as hell. They just dismantled Dallas, a team that is trying ot make the playoffs, then just dismantled LA, which was trying to catch them in the standings. scoring 6 goals on both of those teams in a 'playoff atmosphere' to me is scary. Chicago scares me because they're the one team that has something to prove specfically with beating Detroit. I don't think the wings will go to Chicago and win any games there. I think it would be a seven game series and a home team series (home team wins all the games). That chitcago crowd is BRUTAL. I can't stand the "Detroit Sucks" chant constantly. I just don't want to go through that, at least not in round 1. IF we were to get them in round 2 or even 3 I could deal with it then, but not round 1. That would likely mean we'd have to face Chicago, SJ, then VAN and that would probably be an overbearing path.
-
The aggravating thing is Detroit could potentially eliminate Chicago from playoff contention single handedly but they won't, and we'll draw Chicago in round 1. And then we're going to be in a world of s***. Chicago is no joke and they're the one team below 4th seed that has something to prove against us and I desperately don't want to play them. But we will. That's my prediction. I really hope SJ draws CHicago, then either way one big boy is eliminated. My prediction: Van/Anaheim SJ/Nashville Det/s***cago LA/Phoenix The east I don't follow enough to make predictions at this time.

Chelios used to do it all the time, deliberately. Obvious when there was zero velocity on the puck and it was lobbed over. I liked the rule at first honestly, but seeing it in action I don't like it. I think nowadays it's definitely an accident. Maybe they could make it like an icing, if you clear it over the glass, you have to take an immediate faceoff with no line change in your own zone. That's penalty enough. Goalies should still have a penalty IMO. That or maybe if you're already on a PK you cannot be penalized again for that. So it could warrant a penalty 5 on 5 but not 5 on 4 or any other odd man situation.

Good game considering the opponent and coming off an emotional game last night. This was a trap game. The last 3 games are all very tough. Carolina trying to make the playoffs, and Chicago trying to prove something and get as high in the standings as possible. Funny but we may have full control in those last 2 games on whether we play them or not . Gonna be interesting if the TV station puts up something like "If detroit wins in regulation, Detroit plays Chicago". Will just be intersting to see how it plays out here. I have a real bad feeling about it. I don't want to play Chicago in round 1. They have something to prove against us. I'd even rather play Anaheim.
