Can someone explain the situation with the referees in terms of their structuring with contracts and such? I don't know what it is, honestly, and I'd like to know. For instance, is there a referee union, and in their contract they aren't allowed to be interviewed? Also, what's the so-called process for referees being reviewed on questionable calls if any?

I got to thinking, has there ever been a 5 minute major for interference like this one? And, what's the ruling technically when a player has the puck in his feet? Is he in possession of the puck or not?

I don't think the linesman can even make that call... What's laughable to me is that some say Havlat didn't have possesion of the puck. IT WAS IN HIS FEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think the wings should draw a play up where you have a guy skating toward the goal, someoen passes the puck into their feet, and both the puck and player glide to the net untouched. Hawks fans are retarded. They don't stand a chance in this series. It's laughable. They beat 2 terrible teams in Calgary and Vancouver, both of which never go anywhere in the playoffs. They need to realize they're playing one of the most complete teams in NHL history, backed up by plenty of awards and Stanley Cups. It's ironic that this hawk fan here comes and says "You guys dont understand the Hawks, this team never backs down..." LOL, I mean, the Wings were down 3-0 and erased the deficit in less than 5 minutes. I would say the Wings never back down either... I know this is going to sound completely arrogant, but it's fact: The wings are the ones controlling this series. They're that good. No other team in the league right now is at this level. The Red Wings control this series, and really, they control the playoff outcome as long as they're in it. It's ok little hawk fans, enjoy your win. It's the last one you'll get this year.

I will say this: It's about time the big boys start putting up on the scoreboard. Sure they're doing alot of great things defensively, but they're here to produce on the scoreboard. I want to see the big guns on the score sheet in game 4.

I disagree with you. If you want to be upset we lost, fine, but consider we came back from 3 goals down. We battled all kinds of adversity in this game, and without a key defender on a BS call. Also consider how wishy washy some fans are around here. To say the wings are going to lose the next 3 is an insult to the red wings, considering how veteran-like and talented they are, backed by all kinds of accolades. I mean, seriously. These same fans are screaming that the red wings are never going to lose another game after a good win, but then change their opinion and say they're never going to win another game after a loss. It's annoying.

Don't worry guys, this is the only game the Hawks are going to win. They absolutely had to have this game tonight. Don't worry. Alot went wrong for Detroit tonight. I don't see it happening like that in game 4. It still took every break and every possible thing to go right for the Hawks to not blow a 3-0 lead more than half way through the game. Wings in 5.

I'm telling you guys, I've been saying it and saying it, the league wants these series to go more than 4 or 5 games. The refs are obviously putting away the whistles when the Hawks haul down Wings players. Absolute absurdity. it just confirms my confidence in how much better the REd Wings are though. I don't see us winning this game. Chicago may be inferior, but they are still pretty damn good, and quick. They're going to be flying tonight. They did a good job cutting their defensive mistakes down last game. I expect they'll be like that again tonight, but who really knows? They could come out so pumped they give up odd man rushes. The big motivation I would think for the Wings would be to get this series over in 4 or 5 and get rest for the finals. I hate to do it, but I'm going to predict a 4-3 loss tonight.

If I'm not mistaken, Chelios didn't play much in the playoffs last year either, if at all. He wouldn't have signed another year here if there were problems. People who start buying into this just like the drama, and are retarded in my opinion.

The ONLY thing I could possibly see any sense of this author making, is that because the NHL has a salary cap, you can't get 'stacked' teams much anymore. The exception, of course, is the REd Wings, because players took pay cuts to come here, which is soemthing you never see in pro sports anywhere anymore. I would agree that due to the salary cap, the talent is thinned out a bit on just about all of the teams (or maybe it's because there are too many teams), but I have no idea where that author was going with 'elite' teams and that you have to have an elite goalie to be considered an elite team. Pretty ridiculous.

I don't have any hatred for the Hawks. The old rivalry is in a lull right now, because we've been so good and they've been so bad. From a Chicago fan perspective, they cannot stand the Wings and HATE them with a passion. I say, take a number. Unless you're a Detroit Fan, I'd say all opposing team fans feel that way. This really isn't a rivalry RIGHT NOW. IT'll take some blood and OT's, maybe even a couple 'sweeps' in playoff rounds to fire that rivalry up.

If we happen to win the cup this year and ozzie's GAA stays at 2.2 or less...it would be a travesty if he didn't get it. I don't think any skater on the team stands out enough this year to get the MVP. It has to be Ozzie...

It's not saying much, but I think the refing in this series thus far has been 'better' than the anaheim series...but again, this isn't saying much. I don't know how in the hell Devorsky made it to the next round after calling Game 7 in our series the way he did. Dispicable.
