So, it's not enough to have a 5 on 3 late in the 3rd period, we're going to complain about one stick touching another stick (no pun intended). Wow. So, Zetterberg tying up Crosby's stick near the net just before the puck gets there is worthy of complaining, but Holmstrom getting crosschecked to the ice when the puck is along the boards or at the blue line (not in the process of being shot), is completely smart hockey? LMFAO. I swear, the Pens fans are the biggest whiners ever, seriously. The bottom line is head to toe the wings are superior in talent, experience, and toughness. DEAL WITH IT.

I wonder how many goals Franzen will score next year. I hate to call his streak that he's been on just a hot streak. I think he's come into his own. He could easily be a 30 goal scorer next year, 40 if he keeps it up. That would be something special. Hmm. Does anyone think Stuart is overrated? I'm not saying he is, but if I had to pick a wing that is overrated, since the league and commentators never talk about our boys, I guess it'd have to be Stuart. He's made so many mistakes this year it seems almost every one of them burns us as well. I don't know. Just thinking out loud. He's sill a big hitter though.

Hmm, how good would Crosby really look if he had to contend with Western teams for 80% of the games a year rather than weak ass Eastern teams? Big difference. Ovechkin is far better than Crosby. And perhaps my opinions are based on this series, becasue that's all the exposure I've really had. Careers are made by what you do in the playoffs, and for that matter, nothing I've seen is leading me to believe Crosby is a better overall player than Zetterberg or Datsyuk. What do you think makes Crosby better offensively than Datsyuk or Zetterberg? Don't believe the hype. Zett is every bit as good, and I think Datsyuk has the best hands I've ever seen. The major advantage these two players have over Crosby is that they can play defense. Crosby, at this time, cannot. Maybe when Crosby matures more, he'll be better, but right now, you'll have to spell it out for me on how this kid is better.

Just think about how good the Red Wings have been for the last 13 years. We could easily have a few more cups in there. We could have won the cup from 95 through 98, and a great case could be made that the wings could have won the cup many more times throughout the 21st century. It's amazing, really, and makes you understand how special it really is to put together a cup run and complete it.

The Pens will not be back to the cup next year. The wings on the other hand, have a great chance to keep it going. During the Dallas season, I saw fans on their forums asking the question, "How in the hell does Detroit manage to stay at the top of the league year in and year out?" Good F'ing question. I don't know. LOL

The pens can't handle Detroit 5 on 5, so the shots on goal at the end of the game would be something like 35-6 in Detroit's favor, if zero penalties were called on the Red Wings.

They'd be complaining that we still obstructed and got away with it... I seriously don't think they know what obstruction is. I saw some fans on the Pens board saying that they considered obstruction when the forechecker is headed into the corner to get the puck, and the defender is even with him (body beside body) and the defender lays a hand or something on the Pen player. I mean, yes, ideally, you would prefer no player ever takes their hands off of their stick. But in reality, that's not what the obstruction call is meant for. Obstruction is hooking away from the puck, grabbing a player nowhere near the puck, cutting someone off and doing it by going out of your way to do it, impeding a player to the puck when you have no intention of going for it yourself to defend, etc. All of these examples are examples of obstruction. You can go into the corner with teh forechecker, trying to gain position (as long as you don't bearhug or somthing, which falls under trying to impede without intent of getting the puck specifically).

I agree. Before this series, I was ranking the Pens around 5th in the West. I thought even Nashville would have taken them to a long series at least. I thought Colorado and DEFINITELY Dallas were better than the Pens. I think Anaheim and SJ would have beaten the sh*t out of the Pens. Talk about crying about dirty play? The wings are one of the cleanest teams in the league. We hit hard now, but we aren't dirty like Anaheim is.

It was only a boring trap game becuase they lost. If they had won, there wouldn't have been a thread like that. I was saying the same in 95 when we lost to the Devils. It is similar in that we showed up with a high powered offense and never seen that trap before. I think that's the series that really gave birth to this new NHL, because everybody began to copy it since it was so effective.

What's the other part of you want? To go to game 7? Goodness...

So what did Sidney Crosby really say to Zetterberg?

I'm also going to go ahead and admit that Im not worried in the least now. The wings are going to beat the hell out of Pitt in game 5, I bet it's another shutout. WIth the cup on the line, come on. Plus we haev the last change, which means we can get Lids and Raffy, Dats and Zett against Crosby's line all night.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and actually say that the Wings should never have put the ref in a position to make the call to put them down 5 on 3. To me it looked incidental (Lilja or whomever it was didn't go out of his way to impede crosby, but he ran into him and that's obstruction). The call was the correct call to make. I threw my hands up and thought "well, it's tied" when that happened, because I didn't think there was a chance in hell we were surviving that without allowing a goal. The refs let alot go tonight, alot for us as well. I kind of liked it. Let the boys play.
-
They ran into a complete team and they don't know what to do about it. In my opinion, they're lucky they haven't gotten swept. Pens fans after game 3 sounded ridiculous. I had to read that s*** for 3 days. I'm so glad we won because they got put back in their place. Wings in 5 baby! I'm happy they're going to win it at home!!!!!!!!
-
They haven't even been able to muster 1 lucky goal in Detroit in 2 games. Yeah, I'd probably give up as well. They know they're done. I bet they get shut out again on Monday, too. I think the wings will win 3 or 4-0.
-
Man I don't even like to listen to Sid talk...what a tool.
-
Zett is a better player because he's a 2-way player. Crosby can't play defense, at least not yet. The days of gretzky-like players are over. The league doesn't allow for a player to score 100 goals and 200 pts a season.
-
We're going to shut them out again at home, I'll bet. It'll be 4-0. The Pens can't handle Detroit 5 on 5, and they can't do anything to us in our house. This series is over with, and we all know it.
-
It's what they did in games 1 and games 2 for a full 120 minutes. When the wings get the lead, they just shut everybody down. It's amazing to watch how dominant they are. Good thing the refs let us obstruct to do it
-
Dude, the Pens fans are STILL crying about how Detroit is obstructing. They think that when 2 players are going for the puck and Detroit is trying to jostle for position with the body, that's objstruction. I disagree completely. Obstruction would be if their back is to the puck and they deliberatel yget in the way of the Pen player. F'n sore losers. We used to have to deal with alot of obstruction and then we built this team to be tougher and faster, and a bit younger.
-
The pens cannot handle detroit 5 on 5, it's pretty clear. STAY OUT OF THE DAMN BOX!
-
The wings are getting themselves in trouble. Clearly their power play is better than ours, and it pains me to say that.
-
Pens again bemoan lack of obstruction calls
Firehawk replied to 10 Minute Misconduct's topic in General
Yeah, let me translate what the idiot is really saying: "We can't hang with Detroit 5 on 5, so we must play 5 on 4 at all times to have a CHANCE to win". Nuff said. Man his whining is ridiculous. I don't even know what the hell he's talking about and I'm usually pretty objective. I don't see more obstruction going on than it goes on in every other game in the league. How many times are the refs going to permit people to whack on Holmstrom when the puck is out on the blue line somewhere or along the boards? By rule that shouldn't be allowed either, but if they called everything we'd have 134 penalties per game. Give me a break...CUT IT OUT THERRIEN! -
I thought I was the only one that noticed that. Good God. I kept yelling at the screen, "THATS NOT A PENALTY, SHUT THE HELL UP". lol
-
Stuart had a bad game, let it go. he scored a big goal the previous game, and you were on his cack... These threads are retarded. If he plays like that in game 4, then you can whine about him.
