I expect Mac to score the stanley cup winning goal this year.

Low scoring games in the playoffs do not bother me. Low scoring games in the regular season bother the hell out of me. And I will echo what someone said earlier about the goalies...goalies making the great saves to keep scores down is awesome. Goalies making saves with their extra padding to keep scores down, something needs to be done about that.

I think Nashville will start getting rough with the wings in the 3rd. I could see a good fight from downey in the 3rd coming...even if it isn't for that hit on Dom... The hit on Dom could have been avoided though, so that's why I wonder...but yeah you are right, with game in hand, I could see Downey thinknig "maybe another time"...

Anyone think Hamuis is gonna pay for that hit on Dom before the game is over?

It's not impressive anymore to earn 100 pts in an 82 game season when someone's guarenteed 2 points every game. Last year didn't the top 6 or 7 teams in the west get 100 pts?

So who is coming out of the lineup for McCarty? I'm sorry if this was already covered, I didn't see it...

You can kind of tell that the coaches are making him meaner slowly. He's hitting people with that little extra Ummph more and more every game. Anyone else notice this? Boy if he develops into a great player with an attitude like Phaneuf (without the dirtyness) then that, ladies and gentlemen, is our future.

Usually when the team is on a losing streak it hits rock bottom when they lose like they did tonight. I bet next game things turn around. I think this was the final straw, come on. A goal that shouldn't even be a goal and only stood because it's not a reviewable incident, and 8 eyeballs didn't see the damn thing? COME ON. I bet it turns around now. That was rock bottom.

I think the redwings have a shot certainly at the cup, but I'm not bold enough to come out and say they have the 'best shot'. I think Dallas and Anaheim have arguably as good if not better shots at the cup out of the west. It'll be interesting though to see what upsets happen in the first round this year. It'd be nice to send Pronger home early. The wings really needed another scorer. Maybe had they gotten fedorov as their only trade I woulda felt much better about this deadline...

What happened with downey during warmups?

Giggy is slow side to side. He'll have one of the highest GAA in the league if he were forced to significantly shrink the pads.

I hate it when people try to say "well skaters have more advanced sticks and such so they are better too, so don't just attack goalies". That makes no sense. Just because a stick is made a certain way to allow for a shot 5mph more, the net is being blocked 30% more than it was 30 years ago. THINK ABOUT IT. NOT QUITE THE SAME. I was all for letting players put whatever curve they wanted on their sticks as well, but in reality, what's that going to do? A couple goals more might be scored, but that net is still more than half blocked by a goalie just standing in it. I'm all for designing and enforcing form-fitting equipment to shrinking these goalies. It would be alot more fun watching higher scoring games than these 1-0 or 2-1 games.

Maybe Ozzie just makes it look easy .

I want to see Edm vs Vanc in the playoffs . I would fear an Ana vs Det matchup alot more than a Det vs Col matchup in the playoffs, which tells me that Anaheim is right now the bigger rival. I don't hate anyone else on Colorado other than Laparierre...and I couldn't stand him when he played for the Kings either. Love to have him on my team though.

Ozzy will retire in a Wings jersey where he belongs. I thought yesterday it more had to do with the team in front of him playing sound defensively than Ozzy standing on his head. I think over this 6 game losing streak, it's been piss poor defense leaving 2-0's and several odd man rushes and rebounds that are why Ozzy has "LOOKED" bad. I think he's been good and is good enough to stay here. It's no wonder every other fan makes fun of Wings fans. We're sitting well ahead of anyone else in the league and Ozzy has an incredible season record, but then he loses a few and now some of us are saying "Well we saw Howard in 3 games and we think he compares to a Veteran Goaltender". Give me a break. Howard has been playing with ZERO pressure. He knows he's in for A GAME and that's it. He stands no chance at playing in the playoffs at this point. It's easier to play goalie with no pressure on your back. I'd like to see Howard become the future of the team, maybe share the role next year when Hasek retires, but this year is not the time.

I honestly don't know whether to have faith they'll wake up and get that killer instinct back today or not. I think it's good that it's a high ranking team (Dallas). Perhaps that is what they need.

In short, I would cheer him back to Detroit. As long as the chemistry makes sense, he'd fit in well here.
