It's been that way the last 4 or 5 years...I'm content with the Sens being there but not the ducks. Not just because we lost to them either...just saying...i wouldn't be happy if tthe flames, sharks, minnesota, edmonton were there either. The NHL really needed Det/Ott in the finals this year. I wonder what the ratings were for tonight. Honestly for half the day i completely forgot the finals started tonight and I'm a very huge hockey fan. LOL

I'm pretty amazed at where the offense is coming from for the Ducks though. This is how the wings won the cups in 97 and 98...from players not expected to score. I hate the ducks...

I hate the announcers on VS... I hate everything today. Did anyone else go off into daydreams watching this game tonight thinking about how the wings should be there right now?

I'm gonna have to get on a Sens board and find out what they think about the Ducks just cross checking folks in front of the net without will and rarely being called for it. Not sure about that Pronger call, didn't look like he even attempted to hook someone, but that was probably the makeup for not calling when he hogtied heatley on the previous play. I agree, it looked like he just won a cup or something there lol.

If you're ready to throw your goalie under a bus after he makes one bad play... If you're all for the team age average being over 35. If you expect to have won the stanley cup every year since 93.

I'm sorry to get off of the topic of Fischer... I had a 48 hour heart monitor done about 6 months ago to count the number of PAC's and PVC's i have (since i had the surgery they went away but came back a bit). I have many less now and feel them much less, but still feel them on occasion (PAC's). The PVC's I have are about 7 per day. That's what the average person has pretty much. So I have no worries there and am so happy that it was a successful operation. When i'd get an attack, i could barely breathe and my heart rate was irregularly irregular. It felt like I was for sure going to die. If you haven't ever experienced something like this it's very tough to describe, but it just makes you feel like total crap. To have something more life threatening I'd imagine would be even tougher to get over. It took me a good year or so to not be afraid to get my heart rate over 140...and now that I've conditioned my heart alot better and come off all beta blockers, I feel like a new person. I think on occasion I do feel a PVC when they happen...and they kinda make me do a double take...like 'what was that?' lol.

I love babcock...he's not going anywhere.

Wow it's amazing someone else around here can relate sorta. While you have the more serious of the two, i had Atrial Fibrillation Diagnosed at age 23. I only had 3 epsiodes, about 1 year apart and finally after the third i opted to get an ablation procedure done when i was 26 which cured me (so far, 1 1/2 years later). Mine was not life threatening but it felt like you were going to die. Anyways, I had the surgery and was in my hospital bed on that night watching the wings game when Fischer went down. It really hit home with me. I wish he could come back but unless they can cure him of that, he's probably done. It's too risky. It's not some freak thing that just happened. Your heart doesn't just start fibrillating for no reason. He has a defect that in and of itself may be a freak thing but what happened to him is because of his defect which isn't going away unless they cure it (if they can, i'm not sure). I believe his diagnosis initially was Ventricular Fibrillation which is fatal if immediate medical response isn't present. He's lucky he didn't have that when he was sleeping or something.

Cheli shook Bert's hand after the vancouver series in 02 didn't he? And he had very heated battles...but I don't think Bert was very dirty in that series, just highly respected. Pronger was dirty. Maybe that's why. Either way I don't agree with doing the hand shake thing just for the sake of tradition. If you don't respect the player then why bother shaking hands? Now if he respected all but 1 player, maybe he should have shaken everyone's except Pronger's or whatever. Or maybe he just felt like there's no way the Wings deserved to lose...i don't know.

I want Hasek back. He brings confidence. There's nothing he could have done about those goals scored yesterday...and he was 46 seconds away from a shutout in game 5...he played well. The people dogging Hasek's style of play are retarded. You guys didn't dog him out after he earned shutouts. He's always been that way and that's why he's a special goalie. My God.

I think we got the Ducks' best game and the Wings looked a bit nervous at first. By the time they got it going it was way too late. Had Detroit played as intensely as they did in the 3rd, then maybe we coulda won. That's what I was wondering the entire first two periods...where is Detroit's desperation? Now it can be argued that Anaheim just clamped down on them. And fine, if you want to argue that, then it's a valid statement. However, I'll just say this, there's something to be said when the red wings come into the offensive zone and skate to the side as opposed to when the Ducks come in they skate directly to the net. That was the difference. That's how you get the rebounds and deflections.

I'm watching. I want to see how Ottawa's speed/offense is handled by Anaheim.

Babcock was right, they hadn't dropped an egg in the last couple games...but they're gonna tonight. When the Ducks come up ice iwth the puck they head direclty to the net. The wings skate along the boards. It's unbelievable. In the off season we need more guys going to the net...my God. Regular season you can do what the wings are rigth now but in the playoffs it just doesn't work. When aer we gonna learn?
-
Thos complimentary words are words of sympathy...since I"m sure they think the Wings are fried.

I'm waiting for someone to say Giguere has been outstanding so far...gimme a break.
-
Another BS fluke goal and they're winning again. Unbelievable. And to echo everyone else, the ice F'n sucks. This is why places like California shouldn't be allowed to have ice rinks.

I can't watch. COME ON WINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was pretty depressed all day at work. A couple guys brought up the game and then i went on my rants a few times through the day...but thank God we have the pistons tonight to watch because I'm already nipping at the bud to watch this game 6. Although, I might just go to bed and hope to God i wake up and the Wings won (gonna tape it of course). In game 4 against the Sharks they went down 2-0 and i turned it off and went to bed. I got up at 5am to find out they won. Maybe I should do that again, because I"m not sure I can watch. My heart can't take it. Anyways, I'm oddly confident about game 6, just because of how the wings have played. It ain't like they've fallen apart or something, they've had bad breaks go against them. It should turn around, hopefully sooner than later. I am usually a pessimist but I feel good about the game. I wish they were playing it tonight. I also think we'll get the best Ducks team of the playoffs tomorrow. They know this is likely their only chance to drop Detroit because if it comes back here for game 7 they're not winning a 3rd game on JLA ice. It's just not happening. I hope the Ducks are nervous, but I doubt it. It should be one hell of a game.

Hasek flops around in his position . Until Giggy puts up the same awards and career that Hasek has, dont' knock Hasek's play. My goodness.
-
Sorry if this was mentioned, i didn't read through all the comments. But I do remember Babcock saying if they were ahead in the game Bert would play much less than if they needed a goal. Since the wings were clamping down, that coulda been why.
-
I would'nt put it past Hasek (no pun intended) to pull a shutout again in Game 6. He's 100% Save Percentage when Detroit faces Elimination. Not bad. You cannot bet against him until he loses a series for us. That's how I feel.
