OMG! f*** f*** YES RED WINGS RED WINGS! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
-
haha, hiller's first shot
-
Giguere's not overly athletic, plus he has some kind of medical problem with dehydration. We chased him with 38 shots in 2 periods.
-
Hiller starting the third... I actually thought of this, didn't think it would happen, but Giguere has already played a full games worth and now they've got a fresh goalie.
-
FRANZEN!

must be nice to have a fourth line.

damnit stuart

You've got a great avatar.

Awww, what a disappointment. I thought you were suggesting a new captain, and I was getting excited because I was about to verbally thrash you.

Shouldn't even be asked before he retires.

Osgood is the worst starting goalie in the league
digitaljohn88 replied to Phazon's topic in General
I agree with what you're saying, but my point was that if Ozzy had let in 2 in that game, with all the nice saves he made we would have considered it a good game, yet the stat sheet would show a .875 sv%. -
Anyone have something firm on who's starting in goal tonight? I read that Osgood didn't practice and Conklin did, usually meaning that Osgood would start.

9-1-4. The points equivalent of 11-3-0. Ozzy needs to draw some games that will actually help his stats. Facing 16 SOG is just setting a goalie up for failure. Even if he had only let in 2, that's still a .875% -
Witchcraft! An unbiased pictorial comparison! ....Could it be that games are low scoring because EVERY player on the ice is 20%+ bigger, with less room to work with? Could it be the remnants of the trap still played by half the teams in the league? Or maybe it's the shot-blocking epidemic, which sometimes creates more blocked shots than shots on goal in a game? Nah, has to be the goalies. BURN THEM AT THE STAKE! Modern goalies will continue to play the exact same way regardless of what happens to gear. They are faster, stronger, and much, MUCH better trained than the goalies of the past. I still think the chest protector, pants, and thigh rise should be reduced, but it's not going to be the end-all solution that some make it out to be.
-
Also, most people tend to compare the goalies of old (5'9" - 5'11") to modern goalies (6'0 - 6-2") without noting that key piece of information...

You're right, blocker regulation right now is 8" x 15". Vintage blockers are usually 7 1/2" x 14 1/2". Marginal difference at best. Regardless, gloves are NOT a problem, and are not even being looked at from everything I've read. (a lot) I don't recall seeing many players snipe top corner in any vintage games I've watched. The game has changed, that half inch isn't hurting anything. For next year.... 1) They are thinking about sizing pads by height, or just limiting the height more than the current limit of 38" 2) Chest protector and pants will fit the body contour closer, likely the biggest difference will be shoulder height Fixing the chest protector, pants, and thigh rise should be all that needs to be done to end the silly gear debate for a while.
-
Modern gloves are smaller. Pads are the same width, but longer. The real difference is the chest protector and pants. Chest protector could not possibly get down to the size it was in that age, but it could be trimmed a little. Pants could be smaller, goalies just need to wear the right size. Though I see no problem with the goals per game right now, and no real need to keep changing s*** honestly.

2 straight games now with us having good goaltending still resulting in a loss. I hope everyone can quit blaming the goalies for this year.
-
Everyone vote Ozzy player of the game for his B'day! Nobody else deserves it anyway. Ozzy was third with 18% on the last update.

Warrior bought out Montreal, re-branded sticks should be in stores by next spring when most new equipment comes out.
-
The torso is by far the biggest area a goalie has to save a puck, even if chest pads are to be reduced in size. Evolution of the position is as much to blame for the blocking style as the gear.
-
LMAO. This guy has no clue how it even works
-
haha, ozzy screwed up there but very nice reaction to save himself

Hey, the Nucks still have a pretty damn good defense! I'm predicting a closer game... 3-1 Wings.
