Providing the game goes well for us in the third, this will be Jose Theodore's fourteenth straight 2nd round loss. Jesus Christ, how does he always manage to get past the first round only to collapse in the second? This streak dates back to 01'-02'.

GAA is calculated as goals against per game. A game is considered to be 60 mins, but Jose only played 20 and 30 minutes the first two games. His GAA coming into this game was around 10.00.

I think he did it at about the right time, his "style" wasn't really that outdated until a couple of years ago. Plus he had the lockout to rework his game, it might be hard to do mid-season or in one off-season

Any save on that shot would have been pure luck. There's no way Ozzy could have covered the post effectively and then gotten to the opposite top corner that quickly. I don't think anyone's pinning it squarely on Dom, it's just that we've come to expect our goalies in Detroit to make at least one game saving stop on those four goals, two of which were less-than-spectacular. The manner in which they were scored (2 at a time) does not help our fans' reaction either. This is Detroit, and we pride ourselves in tearing our goalies apart at will. Don't try to change the system, for the system will destroy you.

I wasn't saying I'd do any better (obviously not), but I think even Dom would say he shouldn't have been on the goal line/ partway in the net on the deflection goal (that's the only one I pointed out).

I realize that. I've played goal since I was 8 and watched the goaltender position slowly fade from reflexive to positional. Modern goaltending is 90% positioning. Flip on CBC next time MON/BOS are playing,... Carey Price is a good example. Goalies are becoming more aggressive cutting the angles and staying big so they don't have to make the spectacular reflex save on the extremely common deflections in the game now. By any account, it wasn't a bad goal, but it was most certainly savable.

Please. I'm not ragging on Hasek here, but isn't ANYONE tired of every ******* deflection goal being labeled as "unsavable"? So it changed direction halfway there. Woopdef***ingdo. If the goalie is playing off the goal line the puck still hits shoulder.

To be fair... Francois Allaire is heavily associated with J.S. Giguere so a slip in combining the two isn't horrible. I don't know how many times it happened though

Now that McCarty got an assist, I predict he will be an unstoppable offensive force. I'd say McCarty should center the first line, and we don't really even need to bother thinking about the rest.
