Hah, can't really twist this kind of data. Average NHL save percentage was .895% in 93/94, and in 93/94 Ozzy had a .895%. So in his rookie year, Osgood was exactly NHL average. However, between 94' and 00', Osgood was well above the average NHL percentage. I don't have the data for this year's average save percentage, but it has hovered around .909% for the last few years. Howard currently sits at .910%, almost right on the average. So you could say so far that Howard is having a very similar year to Osgood's rookie year. Hopefully Howard is above average for the next 5 years.

So, on a goalie whos' biggest knock is consistency, we're eating crow after 12 games..? He has been pretty good so far though. Definitely a success if he maintains his level of play for the year.

Missed the first one, second goal against was a breakaway we allowed while PK'ing... Howard seems to be doing alright but it doesn't matter what our goalies do if we can't score.

We put opposing goalies into these super-grooves by taking way too many low-percentage shots. Our real scoring chances are all the same: Shot goes high/wide. Pavelec's confidence has to be sky high right now.

Unfortunately he really has to because he's one of the smallest goalies left in the league. Some of his best saves are that 'over challenge' when the shooters don't realize and put it right into him

A contender would give up ALOT to get Lidstrom even if just for a one-year cup run. Luckily we'd never let that happen.

I think Franzen will score 40-45 as long as he plays 80+ games. Last year he was on pace for 39 goals if he didn't miss games and this year he'll have a bigger role. I'm not expecting it, but I wouldn't be shocked to see him score 50. The stars would have to align and he'd have to go on one of his patented HOT streaks, but it's possible.

Howard will be good in a backup role once he's had more than a few games this year with a healthy Red Wings team. Zetterberg will score 90+ points. Filppula will not score more than 60 points. Ericsson will be top-2 in minutes played by the end of the season.

Looking good. I'm pretty sure those are the pads he started practicing with last year. It seems to take him a while to break pads into game shape.

I'm sure they want him to play 50-55 games. That's probably how many he would have played last year if he wasn't so off his game/injured.

It sucks that we lost... but we at least got to follow our team longer than the fans of 28 other teams. Some people would kill just to see their team make the finals.

29-12-0, .928%, 1.80GAA Osgood has posted absolute top-5 numbers in the last two postseasons. However, he had a terrible regular season last year. Most hockey fans put more stock in the regular season than Wings fans because it isn't a 20-year lock for them that their team will make the playoffs. I can see people leaving him off a top-15 overall list. I'd call him a top-5 playoff goalie though.

Cleary looks AWESOME in the canada scrimmage right now. I believe a line of Carter/Marleau/Cleary just scored.
