Why the Red Wings need the Presidents Trophy

I feel 4th place is best for the Wings, especially if Dallas is 5th. I think the Stars are the easiest team to play against in the playoffs. They're not a very physcial team and Turco always has issues in the playoffs. I'm of the feeling that anyone but Calgary would be ok.

    Dallas, San Jose, Calgary

Colorado 4 pts behind Calgary now. I think another Detroit-Colorado series would be cool. The history of the great rivalry aside, it would be Bertuzzi playing against the Avs. I wonder if that whole Steve Moore incident would play a factor in the series to possibly rekindle the rivalry.
  4. Great work by Holland. However, keep in mind had Shanahan re-signed with Detroit (as Holland desperately wanted), the Wings wouldn't have been in a position to get Bertuzzi.
  5. I was just watching TSN and their hockey insider, Bob McKenzie, said that Detroit and Anaheim are the two front-runners for Bertuzzi. However, both teams feel that the asking price is too high right now. Florida wants Hudler from Detroit and Perry from Anaheim in any deal involving Bertuzzi.

    Boston wins this trade.
  7. I think he'd do a horrible job. http://www2.sportsnet.ca/blogs/hockey_hear...r_front_office/ Mark Messier is hoping to return to Broadway. The former Rangers' captain who led New York to the Stanley Cup in 1994 told the Edmonton Sun that he is hoping to take over as the team's general manager once current GM Glen Sather decides to retire. "I'm going to have discussions with Glen. I don't know how long Glen is going to keep doing it. Maybe he'll continue for another five or 10 years," Messier told the paper. Sather has not held discussions about hiring his former star player for a front office job but Sather believes Messier could handle the job. "He probably could," Sather explained to the paper. "We'd have to sit down and figure out a lot of details.
