    Congratulations to the Phoenix Coyotes

That's true regarding the population but Phoenix also has 3 other sports teams and many more entertainment options than Winnipeg. The Jets were the only show in town and were still getting ~ 10,000 fans a game, can't ignore that.

New Jersey Devils win Draft Lottery

I think it would be kind of cool if every team was in the lottery and each had a 1/30 chance of getting the top pick. All selections from 1-30 are determined via the lottery, not your position in the standings. With a cap in place, why should the poor teams be rewarded? It would force the bottom teams to be creative in trying to be contenders, rather than just accumulating top picks like the Oilers. Trades for 1st round picks would be interesting too, a team giving up a 1st is potentially giving away the top pick. Also, it could help teams who have to break-up a winner due to cap issues, now they can possibly have a top pick to replace the departed free agents.

    Round 1: Wings vs. Coyotes

I think people are seriously underestimating the Coyotes. They are very deep on D and of course have great goaltending. They don't have any stars on offense, but a lot of guys in the 16-20 goal range. The main strength of the team may be its' tenacity, they rarely ever give up on a game and are one of the hardest working teams in the league. Wings in a hard fought 7.

    last years phoenix team

I would also add a couple of more additions. 1. Ray Whitney: not as prolific offensively as he once was, but still an above-average player. 2. Eric Belanger: good two-way player who played big minutes for the Coyotes this year.

    Playoff Standings Prediction thread

I think PHX might not make it. They have a tough back-to-back with SJ. Dallas has 2 easy games left, COL and then MIN. Wouldn't be surprised if the Coyotes finish 9th.

Best passers of the past 30 years

I would put Marc Savard on this list, I've seen many Bruins games and he is an amazing passer. From the new guys, Krejci is a really good passer. Also, why is Oates not in the hall of fame?

    Ville Leino Scores Hat Trick

I love watching Leino play. He's just so different than most of today's players, some of his passes are absolutely amazing. I'd have to disagree strongly with those who say he can be a top 6 player in Philly but not in Detroit.

Video games would reject this trade. I wouldn't be pleased if I was a Stars fan.

  12. Didn't see this posted anywhere... http://msn.foxsports.com/nhl/story/FBI-helping-solve-the-mystery-of-the-Chicago-Blackhawks-missing-Stanley-Cup-winning-puck-012811 Chicago FBI forensic experts are helping to solve the mystery of what happened to the puck scored by the Blackhawks to win the 2010 Stanley Cup, the Chicago Tribune reported Friday. While Kane and his teammates celebrated at the opposite end of the ice at the Wachovia Center, someone picked up the winning puck and it has not been seen since. After officials and fans had no luck in tracing its whereabouts, a $50,000 reward was offered by a restaurateur and the Chicago FBI stepped in to help. One attempt to claim the reward has already failed after the FBI used specialized equipment to show that the puck in question was not the winning one. Officers believe they will be able to compare each nick on any puck that is turned in to digitally enhanced images they have of the winning goal. "We feel we have enough in terms of visual evidence to include or exclude any future pucks," Chicago FBI spokesman Ross Rice said. He added: "All we're doing is helping. The people who are doing this are doing it on their own time. They feel they are a part of history."

    Wolski to the Rangers

I've seen quite a few Coyotes games this year, Wolski has been invisible. Coyotes gave up on him, just like the Avs did. He's in the Zherdev mold, talented but lack of effort ultimately leads him to being another teams reclamation project.

Pronger Has Surgery To Repair Broken Foot

Still can't believe St.Louis decided to keep Weight and his $9 million dollar salary and trade Pronger. The players St.Louis got back, Brewer and Woywitka...ouch.
  15. Just don't get how humans can do stuff like this. http://beta.ca.news.yahoo.com/during-pat-burns-funeral-someone-smashed-widows-car.html MONTREAL - Thieves knew exactly whose belongings they were stealing when they ransacked the car belonging to Pat Burns' widow within hours of the popular coach's funeral, police said Tuesday. About 30 autographed hockey sweaters from Burns' personal collection and numerous family valuables were taken in the robbery, which was discovered by Burns' wife Line on Tuesday morning. "They went through his stuff," said Const. Anie Lemieux of the Montreal police, noting Burns' wallet was in the car. "The person who left with the shirts and everything knows that this is Pat Burns' stuff." Burns' cousin Robin, who delivered a eulogy at Monday's funeral, called the crime "deplorable." Burns, an award-winning coach of the Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs, Boston Bruins and New Jersey Devils, died after a lengthy battle with cancer. At his funeral, people remembered the gruff ex-cop as a tough but fair man who cared about his players and knew how to motivate them. Police say they will launch a public appeal to the thieves, asking them to leave the stolen items in an agreed-upon spot where they could be recovered. The crime was committed between midnight and 9 a.m. Tuesday. The Burns clan and numerous family friends had attended a wake in a downtown bar Monday night, after the funeral. The stolen items include: —Thirty jerseys signed by star players from each NHL team. —Two suitcases containing Burns' clothes, and those of his wife. —A Movado men's watch. —Many family photos. —Bedsheets from the palliative-care unit. —An iPad. —Women's jewelry.

Do Maple Leaf fans deserve better?

Feel bad for Leafs fans but not for Burke. He was so arrogant after winning the cup and was routinely mocking Kevin Lowe for running his team into the ground.

    Ville Leino

Flyers fans absolutely love this guy, they've started to call him "Philly Leino." Anyone who thinks he's not worth $3 mil has not been watching Flyers games. Flyers look real good, they may have even found a goalie.

I've Never Wached Game 7 of the 2009 SCF...

I remember rooting for the Hawks to win game 5 so the Finals wouldn't start that weekend. Then I remember being confused why AbdelKader was not going to play in game 3 after scoring in games 1 and 2. And I'll always remember Hossa sucking for the entire series.
