Maybe if he scores on every shift this upcoming season.

All these front-loaded contracts are dumb, including the contracts of Franzen and Zetterberg. They really go against what the salary cap was intended for. The cap hit should be what you pay a player in any particular year.
-
Colby Armstrong for 3 mil per year and now this? Burke has been a disaster in TO.
-
Kubina is an absolute steal at under 4mil.
-
I think it's a great trade for the Hawks. The Leafs gave up on Stalberg too early.
-
Can someone explain to me how this trade makes any sense for Florida? Both players are about the same salary-wise and Horton is younger. They give up a young power fwd for a dman who averages around 35 pts per year. Is getting a mid 1st round pick that valuable?

After the great send-off he got in both Dallas and Minnesota, it would be extremely anti-climatic for him to come back.He should just retire.

Better lock down my doors and windows, feel a riot coming on.

It's not just the Williams contract, but the Draper/Maltby contracts as well.

I don't know why Holland gets praise for getting guys like Cleary but then gets a pass for trading Leino. You can't praise him for seeing the potential in Cleary while at the same time absolve him of any blame for trading Leino under excuses such as well he had to dump salary,or he wasn't a good fit. If he really thought Leino had really good potential he would've moved other contracts, period. The Vancouver Canucks can use the same excuse for trading Neely, the Flames for trading Hull, oh well some players just play better elsewhere.

Yeah, don't know what the Hawks would've done without his 3 goals throughout the playoffs.
-
The real luck the Hawks had was winning the draft lottery and picking Kane despite the fact the Flyers had finished last that year(and got Van Riemsdyk 2nd overall). Funny how that worked out and both teams met a few years later in the finals.
-
and with that Leino ties the rookie playoff points record.
-
With today's modern technology why can't they measure the exact number of people watching a channel rather than estimating based on people who have that box?
-
The NHL rookie playoff points record is 21 set by former Wing Dino Ciccarelli. Leino is now 2 pts back and I think he's still considered a rookie.
-
3 more assists tonight, now has 19 pts in 18 games.

Get rid of Nabokov,Marleau, and Blake. Target 1-2 defencemen , I'd go for Michalek, Kubina, Mitchell, Seidenberg in that order. Volchenkov looks like he's Washington bound. Sign Ellis as their #1 goalie, as these playoffs have shown you can invest little in goaltending and still do well. Ellis would probably fit the won't win a series but won't lose a series goalie mold. Get a couple of guys who would make the team tougher to play against, maybe someone like Torres or Madden. Their 3rd and 4th lines are lacking. I think with Thornton,Heatley, Pavelski, Clowe, Setoguchi, and Couture they can get by on offence. They are really lacking on D and it really showed in the Chicago series.

...and the Conn Smythe Winner is Ville Leino. That could lead to some interesting threads here.

It is crazy here. Red, white, and blue everywhere. Don't agree with the looting and all, but the passion here is unmatched. As for the rioting being a French thing, come on. What about the English hooligan soccer fans, the Colombian player who was shot following the '94 soccer world cup, the fan who stabbed Monica Seles,etc.. It's a Habs thing, not a French thing. I doubt the Expos could have ignited such passion. As a French person, I gotta say some commments here are downright rude.

They should just change the name of the team to the "Pittsburgh Powerplays"
-
I will give unlimited gold to every player on the team that eliminates the Penguins.
-
Don Cherry is absolutely blasting the refs and is saying they have a definite bias towards the Pens.

I don't recall him being injured. In fact here's what holland said; Wings general manager Ken Holland said Marian Hossa did not injure his shoulder during the playoffs as indicated in a story in the Chicago Daily Herald. Holland said Hossa had a slightly torn rotator cuff when the Wings signed him on July 2, 2008, but it wasn't anything significant. http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2009/07/red_wings_gm_ken_holland_says_1.html

I can't get over how bad he was vs Pitts in the finals. You'd think he would have been the most motivated. For his sake I hope he doesn't receive more heartbreak should it be a Chicago-Pittsburgh final.
