It is very funny that when i saw the title of this thread RIGHT AWAY i thought here is another non-hockey fan. And sure enough you don't even know how many time outs a team is given. Sure if Babs was given 235 time-outs like in the Association then hockey would go on and on and on with teams using them to give all stars breaks so they can stay out there for 55 - 60 minutes a game. In Calgary Keenan DID NOT use a timeout because by him pulling Kiper it was the same as a timeout! Even more effective because the team wakes up and realizes here comes a cold goalie and we have to play better.

yea, Rafa was not at his best. I wonder sometimes how he played so well in New Jersey? I still like him though and he brings a lot to this team. I thought the D played well the whole night, more importantly Hasek played GREAT. It is good to get a win in the first game, since a lot of meaningless games were played down the stretch.

I don't think Downey is needed. Hardly ever fighting in the playoffs anyway. The Wings held their own. I would like to see Abdeldakar, but 44 is not playing bad, he is doing exactly what is expected = he deserves to be in the lineup. On a side not Homer played well last night.

they won the Presidents trophy again and usually it is because they "play in a weak division" BUT not THIS YEAR!!!! and they still aren't giving any respect to the European style. Not many people talk about Datsyuk's 2 way play, and does anybody see that he is NOT a soft player. He throws the shoulder's and hits when he is pissed just like Malkin does - but MALKIN has more size that he is put under this light that says he is one of the only Russians (Ovechkin) to battle in the corner's BLA BLA BLA. Datsyuk 90% time comes out with the puck FROM CORNERS. I know he will prove many hockey fans wrong and win the Conn Smythe.

Last year I got off my ritual of just wearing my Yzerman jersey, although they won that game so.. this year I have an authentic 1992 Red Wings Nike Jersey with Datsyuk stitching. I wore it to start the season against Anahiem and haven't worn it since. I met Babcock this year and got my Wings hat signed by him, so I will wear that. And if the Datsyuk jersey fails, I swap to my signed Yzerman jersey. I will have to get some kind of Wings flag to put up. I will shave before the game, but not sure if I will keep the beard going WE SHALL SEE. Go wings

Downey is useless on the ice. He is only there for fighting. Most times if the opposition can get a top 2 line out against Downey it results in a penalty or a goal. I am not a Downey supporter for the playoffs, since there is hardly any fighting, and how much did the wings/preds actually fight during the season series? Hardly. Fil - Pavs - Hudler Franzen - Z - Homer Cleary - Draper - Abdeldakar Drake - Hartigan - McCarty

Don't forget Abdeldakar. Is he playing in the playoffs? anyone know? I think he will be in for Sammy in a 3rd line role, it will be either Hudler or Cleary then in that 3rd line with Draper and Abdeldakar.

I 100% agree!!! he played his best every night, every shift. also you must mention that he only went pointless for 19 games this season. INCREDIBLE. he lead the team when Z was out and hasen't stopped since. All those people that say he can't perform in the playoff, just watch this year, AND also last year's performance should show those people that he does show up in the playoffs. last year 18 games 8G's 8A's +2 , 2GW GO PASHA!

I tried my best to re-create what Matt does. I thought it would be fitting to have Franzen's OT series clinching goal over Calgary Flamer's as the featured player. I only made one 1024x780, should do for the remaining week though. I think Matt is making a bracket on Monday or Tuesday.
