    McCarty's Return

Many people on here are too emotional to the present time rather than what this is trying to be accomplished. It seems a lot of people on here want every player to score goals. That isn't realistic at all. How many points do you expect from Drake? Maltby? Drapes? You aren't on their backs because they are Red Wings fans fav players. Drake brings as much as Maltby.

Top 5 Favourite Players of All Time?

Wow you must be really young. I mean come on, i am only 20 years old but at least i know the history of the Red Wings and can appreciate what Howe and Delvechio had done.

    McCarty's Return

Wow!?! Yes it is your opinion and you seem to be observant to the details of each game, BUT how can you base what drake does on stats? or Even Downey for that matter. here are some good questions: How many points do you want out of Drake? Does Downey EVER play penalty kill? Is Drake's roll a point getter? or a playmaker? or a leader? I am pretty sure he is a leader to all his teamates, he wants nothing more than to give another cup to Detroit faithful. Downey is great, I love him on Detroit, but why not replace Hudler? instead of Drake. Hudler has no heart, he is small, and people wonder why Babs has him on 4th line. Anyway I don't see Drake sitting, no way.

    McCarty's Return

Man you are so ignorant to what this team is about. A hockey team needs players like Drake, McCarty is just another player like Drake except worse as of right now. Drake will put his heart and soul for this team on the ice (not saying McCarty won't) But how can someone say get rid of Drake? He was an aquisistion in the summer for a reason! Of course all wing fans want Sammy gone, he has been playing as expected in the last 3 weeks. So shut up about that one because Babs loves him to much anyway.ey Who should be sat down is Hudler. And anyway when Cleary gets back wouldn't that mean antoher player needs to sit? So if anyone wants downey in during playoffs then kopecky and hudler will sit. And no way should kopecky sit over Downey unless it is against a Colorado or Anahiem or Minny with their fighter in. I think it will be hudler who sits for McCarty if he even plays and Kopecky for Downey (slim chance though)

    Number 37

Alright, so not many fans can tolerate Samuelsson. That is fine I am one of those fans as well. Lately though (last 2 weeks) he has been playing 300% better than I am used to seeing. Now of course he hasn't been scoring goals compared to his 7-10 shots a game. That is fine as long as he is hitting, skating hard, not turning it over, most importantly not bringing his linemates down. He has been playing great hockey, good passes (still a little hot to handle for the receiver). I hope he keeps it up and maybe Zetterberg and Datsyuk could play on different lines for the rest of the year. Anybody with similar observations? Or completely different about Sammy?

    Number 37

The majority of you who replied to this post are basing your opinions on his past play. I started this topic to see what you all thought of him lately? Are many of you not even going to get rid of the bias against him and applaud his nice plays or his hustle? He has been skating hard through the neutral zone with the puck and making the right plays! Last 5 games he has been great. I want to know how Red Wings fans feel about his recent play, not at the start of the year, quite frankly he sucked for most of this year; I hated him. It is just a good sign to see him playing so well right now in the last 20 games. on a side note i like how babcock has hudler playing with kopecky, 2 skilled players that know they are in the doghouse and they give a lot of energy when out there lately.

    3/5 GDT: Red Wings 4, Blues 1

WOW sammy is playing well lately (last 3-4 games)! I am so pleased to see him dangling it and not turning it over. I hope he keeps it up. Even though he isn't scoring goals, that is not what I ask of him even as a 2nd liner. As long as he isn't bringing the production of his linemates down as he used to. and i am serious too.

    3/5 GDT: Red Wings 4, Blues 1

Wings baby, Wings. On a roll. they will redeem themselves with a nice relaxed central division month and a half. Sure the central has been bad to Wings so far, but this is where they make is all correct in the way the central is supposed to play out. 13-2 to finish the year. PASHA and Hank make a statement on the rest of the NHL that the Wings are for real in the West. anyways, tonight's win will be 3 - 1 WINGS. Kronner continues his great play with a hat trick. Boyes pops one in on us, he is pretty good.

question about nhl jersey's with lettering

Sucks for you, but it seems as though you should have done a lot more research. I have never bought a jersey from nhl.com because of the fact that is costs so much so I do what you are saying, buy a black and get customized myself at local place. I knew that you had to pay $260 for authentic jersey's, and it was not hard to find on the site. Completely overpriced; I get customized for $180-$200 at local place. Next year, Jimmy Howard Jersey. Although will he always wear #35? Or when Drapes retires will he go with 33? Any way Jimmy Howard jersey will be sweet.

    Future roster?

I find it hard to beleive that any the guys on here that are bashing Holland will have the same oppinion when the Red Wings win the cup this year. If they were able to go 30-7-3 to start, why can't they get back on track when Cleary gets back? Have some confidence. Sure they went to Conference finals last year, they should not have beaten the Sharks if it wasn't for the Hated Bobby Lang. and they should have beaten the Ducks if it wasn't for Lidstrom tipping Scott Niedermayer's shot with less than a minute left to tie the game and led to Selanne's OT winner. They won't blow it again, this team has a winning attitude and Babcock will get the best of them this playoff's.

    So......Lebda Or Lilja?

Maybe neither of lilja or lebda will sit. Maybe it will be Stuart. Although i hope not. Who knows? Stuart might not fit in well? IMO i think it will be Lebda, he can't handle the big players opposition.
  12. redwings56

What happened, Holland? Cap space for what?

I fully agree, the user who started this topic should have his account baned, or let him post things but only he can see it and nobody else on here has to deal with his B/S. And calme down with the vulgarities.
  13. redwings56

    Sammy and Lebda

Sammy played well last night he used his size and hit a little, shot the puck at good times but also did not shoot the puck at other good times. over all he had a good game but it seems that when he plays well the rest of the team doesn't. I want him to play the same tonight.

    Thoughts on Howard

Has he been steady? Yes He is consistant, not only looking at goals against (1 goal against every game). I am not at all saying that he is the second coming of Patrick Roy like Habs fans are dubbing Price. And I do not want Howard to take us to the Promise Land. But this last week is reasurring Holland and Red Wings exec. that they do not need to sign a big name goalie in the off season. Howard is hopefully ready for next year 100%. I hope Hasek is back soon because Osgood is not the answer for the playoffs, no matter how much people love him. (he was great at the beginning when Dom went down for a few games 22-3-2 I think) But the team just isn't playing well in front of him lately. Really though I noticed early in the season when Ozzie was in they allowed a lot more shots than when Dom was in. Anyone else notice that? And Ozzie made at least 3 huge saves a game. Now those huge saves are goals. We can't blame Ozzie and Howard is not the answer for this years playoffs, but he is a nice change and I like how well he is playing.
  15. redwings56

    Thoughts on Howard

Wow, really? It was a screened shot from the point that was redirected by Lilja trying to play soccer. Howard had it heading toward his chest and then he had to stick his pad out which resulted in the bad rebound. Wake up. He is not playoff starting material this year, DOM in the guy. Howard is looking really good for next year though. Possibly the same way Ryan Miller developed.

Funny Datsyuk quote to the press

Datsyuk is great. I love how Ken Daniels pumps him up all the time every game.

    MVP! MVP!

I love it. Maybe try and get the word to all Wings fans. Since many Detroitians who go to the games are only casual we need all the Season ticket holder's to definetly say it loud and the casual's will follow suit. I hate it when I watch Sens games and Alfie gets that chant. NO MORE THAN 1 year ago SENS fans were chanting for him to get traded.
  18. redwings56

    Trade suggested on SI.com

tucker has been awful this year, but recently has picked his game up. If the Leafs get out of the picture they will look to move him. I am note sure, but I think ferguson signed him to a no trade, so who knows what will happen. Ferguson is a dumbass.
  19. redwings56

    Jimmy Howard

Don't forget the 4th goal was the 'God' Lidstrom getting caught and allowing Radulov on a breakaway. so it should also read 4th Goal : 1 - 0 The Wings played well after the 3-0 deficit, kind of the way they have been in the last 2-3 games, when they get behind they play well but can't climb out of it, or run into a hot goalie. Sammy had an alright game. it is just I wonder to my self how is he in the league? When he is skating hard he is effective, but when he jukes and swivles at the Blue line he is useless.
  20. redwings56

What do you think the problem is for our current slump?

You absoluetly destroyed the English language. When Kronner gets back everything will be back to normal, Chelios won't be depended on as much and Rafy will hopefully turn his game around.
  21. redwings56

Howard recalled to replace Hasek (hip flexor)

I think Ozzie will get all the starts, maybe only one game will be played during this time. But If Ozzie has a bad game I would really like to see Howard in. Remeber when Dom went down earlier this year and Ozzie played outstanding during that time. I would much rather see Dom in net during playoffs, so let's hope he gets better soon.

    2/10 GDT: Ducks 3, Red Wings 2

With Cleary out that means Sammy will get more ice-time on a 2nd line. He scored yesterday on a fluke goal, which is fine and great, maybe he realizes that he doesn't need 10 shots a game to feel like he is doing his job, just go to the net, hit along the boards and skate hard. Thats all any fan wants from Sammy. I feel that if he has a good game, the Wings will have a good game. The Wings have been getting away with some wins lately until L.A. and T.O so I expect a good effort today, but the fact that it is an afternoon game following an afternoon game, maybe that effort won't be so good. It's a tough call as to who will win, I am not going to bash the Wings like other Wing fans, this is what they need, a wake up call that they can't steal wins every game. Game goes to S/O that is all I can predict.

    Samuelsson does not fit in

Hey all you Wings fans I just joined a couple days ago and am a huge fan. This is just what I have been noticing since about the 10th game this season. Sammy had a good start with a couple goals at key times for the Wings to start the season off, but since then has looked lost. I understand why Babs would put him on the top line a couple times when homer was out. He got a goal last night which was great, but he does not go 110% every shift like all the other wings. He enters the zone and right away is calling for the one-timer from hudler when he is well covered. It is like somebody told him he has a great shot (which he does) and now it has gotten to his head and it is all he thinks of ever doing. Now when the coaches say for him to shoot more, that doesn't mean every time the puck is on your stick in the offensive zone. He is not talented enough to playon the second line and would not fit on the 3rd or 4th line (becase he does not work hard enough) so where else can you put a player like that? They dump him, and have Franzen with Flip and Hudler would make for a much better line. Maybe sit him out for a couple games and send a message.

    Samuelsson does not fit in

Samuelsson had a rough night against Pheonix, but he has still been playing well before the break. I really liked the lines last night with hudler, kopecky, fil. and Sammy with Franzen and Cleary. I'd like to see Cleary though play with Pavs and Hank. But the top guns stepped up last night and Sammy was noticeable which is never a good thing for him, because it means people will see how poor he played. But I feel he will turn it around once he gets his legs under him. One play last night when he was crossing the blue line on a 2 on 2 he really likes to stickhandle right on the blue as he crosses, and ofcourse cleary went offside. Another time he should have entered the offensive zone but instead stopped the rush and turned back into neutral zone. I expect more from him based on his play in the last month. He will turn it around and he is a piece on the team that is better than what other teams have.

    2007 WCF Post-GAME 6: Ducks 4, Red Wings 3

not so far away now from the playoffs, we are more than half way through and just getting past the 'dog days' of the season. Wings will win it in 16 games!!!! Rafalski will be the difference and of course the experience gained by all the players. I honestly like the way Hasek has played of late, you can even exclude his good game last night, before then he was still in playoff form of 10 years ago. I have never ever supported Hasek, he should be in the old folks home but recently he gets an A+. 30 odd games left, GO WINGS.
