I dunno about that. It just means you only get 2 touches of the ball -the first to control it, the 2nd to pass/shoot. I imagine its a game Anaheim don't play much on their off days As to why they have to stay in Pittsburgh, I'm almost certain it will be to do with the media. Surprised Detroit asked to go back actually, as I remember in the 02 finals even at home, the Wings players were staying in a hotel.

Well, there has been talk of him retiring for a start. Anyway, Shanny is too old and too slow. His last season with us was, as someone pointed out at the time, the quietest 40 goal season in Wings history. And his playoff numbers have nosedived this millenia.

If you're staying at a hotel, or even with friends/family, just stick Channel5 on and watch it live. No need to find a bar that's showing it. The presenter is a big Pens fan, but even he is more neutral than NBC/CBC/ESPN/Versus.

Good stuff - anyone else notice in Game 3 how several pens got very panicky with the puck just inside the blue line when they saw Kronner coming towards them? He never made any big hits because the Pens always got rid of the puck well before he arrived
-
Freep are reporting this morning that he will be good to go Saturday
-
And then you end up with Lebda and Lilja out there against Crosby and Hossa You gotta do at least some matching up against a team like Pittsburgh. This isn't the BJs we're playing
-
No problem with the Refs in game 3 - they mostly let the players play, only called obvious stuff and no massive gaffes like the no goal in Game 1. Only think I can complain about is the pitchfork on Homer. As for the discrepancy in PPs, maybe if the pens didn't goon it up every time they are down late in the 3rd, they wouldn't take so many penalties? Hmmm? Kudos to Babs and the team for not whining and blaming the refs for the loss because - just like the Pens 2 losses, they weren't the reason.

Exactly, Pittsburgh played as well as they could and it took a couple of bounces to go their way and the last 15mins clinging on by their fingernails to win. I highly doubt they will be able to generate the same level of emotion and intensity for game 4. Oh, and UK_Redwing, "scapegoat bowl", love it

So, I'm on a night shift tonight, so I *could* listen to it on internet radio....however I think I'll just record it and watch it when I get up Thursday "as live".

QFT. Babcock deserves a lot of credit for making Datsyuk into the all around monster he is. Zetterberg already had the rep as hard-working 2-way player when he came to Detroit. Dats on the other hand was a just a quiet Russian with dazzling stick-handling skills who was afraid to shoot the puck....

Just wanted to bump this thread and say - it was worth the wait! What a performance.
-
Clearly between Ozzie & Z right now - but the thing is, if the Wings continue to suffocate the Pens, Zetterberg will get a LOT of credit for shutting down Crosby. Post-season scoring leader *and* erasing the NHL's Golden Child?

I saw a quote by a pilot once, talking about an accident that had happened on 3 separate occasions "Once is an accident, twice is a coincidence, three times is a trend" And I counted at least 3 Pens players who took shots at Franzen's head. Low, disgustingly low. So glad that the Wings aren't like that (at least, since Derian Hatcher left).
-
It can't be denied that Ozzie has gone down rather easily on more than one occasion. But then again, nor can it be denied that 1) The Pens have tried to run him 2) He is playing great 3) His embellishments have absolutely nothing to do with Pittsburgh getting totally pwned the last two games.

QFT And like has been mentioned, it was really obvious during the game that Crosby and Therien were spending every stoppage whining from the bench. At one point (one of the 4on4s?) I thought Therien was going to start crying

Right from the 1st period I though Flip had a tremendous game. He was all over the ice and made numerous excellent defensive plays taking the puck away or intercepting passes. He thoroughly deserved his 2pts last night. Clearly that week off before the finals has benefited him and whatever leg injury it was that he was playing with.
-
I think he was trying to start sh*t and the refs grabbed hold of him and got him off the ice before he did any damage. Never saw him actually do anything, just the refs hauling him off.
-
Not too surprising when you think about it - he is, despite being a grade A ******, one of the top D-men in the game and it just goes to show that when you don't just stick a microphone under their noses that Hockey players have a greater understanding of the game than just "we gotta work harder and get pucks to the net" And I'm sure a journalist cleaned the prose up for him

I won't be able to watch this game till Tuesday evening!! AAAAAAAARRRFGFFFFFFFFFFHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *must stay away from internet till then* Cos its just not the same watching it when you already know the score...

If they give a ring to *everyone* in the organisation, that a lot of $$$ for Ilitch to pay out - I mean, do even the girls in the ticket office get a ring? Still, that's what classy organisations do - I remember when Man Utd were in the Champions League final in '99, they hired a 747 and flew EVERY club employee to Barcelona for the game.
-
Go back and read the 5 or so pages before he scored - its a Sammy-sucks! fest. Like Babs said in the press conference, Sammy is a confidence player, and is streaky. For the sake of the team lets hope so

Actually, I hate the International Feed, always have. Its like they suddenly treat the international audience like a bunch of N00bs who have just decided to watch the NHL, and feel the need to explain to us all what "icing" or "offsides" are They never outright criticise the refs and when talking about a player they feel the need to preface every name with "The Great" ie The Great Russian Evgeni Malkin. Basically, they treat the audience like a bunch of know-nothing idiots. Although to be fair, I did notice that they were nowhere near as bad this year, fingers crossed on that for the rest of the series. Still, seeing Nick Halling admitting that his Pens got mauled was sweet
